SCP-XXXX "The Forest Phantasm" (First SCP idea)

Special Containment Procedures: Due to SCP-XXXX never attempting to leave the ███████ Forest, Area-276 has been built to contain it. Area-276 houses agents, units, and D-Class personnel prepared to deal with the possible event of containment breach. Researchers with Level-3 clearance are permitted into Area-276 to study and observe SCP-XXXX's behavioral patterns, growth rate, and its method of consumption. For personnel's own safety Two (2) armed guards are to escort the researcher through the forest to find and observe SCP-XXXX up close. The researcher and guards are required to wear standard Military Grade Night Vision Goggles inside Area-276, and are to keep a safe distance of 30 meters from SCP-XXXX.

Area-276 was constructed to secure the ███████ Forest as a safety protocol to protect civilians in the event of possible containment breach from SCP-XXXX. Night vision cameras are to be placed at appropriate spots as to where SCP-XXXX has been seen, cameras also should be surrounding the forest to prevent personnel from getting lost inside Area-276, request to install motion detectors are being considered and currently pending.

Description: SCP-XXXX appears to have no physical form attributed to it, currently SCP-XXXX has never been seen to take on a "physical" form prior to and after containment, any changes to its appearance should immediately be reported. When SCP-XXXX manifests, it takes on the form of a small black mist with two small white eyes seen inside it. SCP-XXXX's method of attack is to "consume" the person inside its dark mist, despite the fact an average male human is estimated to be about 73% larger than SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX's white eyes cannot be seen during consumption, personnel assigned to Area-276 must monitor SCP-XXXX's growth rate at all time to prevent possible containment breach. Further testing has shown it is mostly docile unless provoked by researches or guards accompanying a researcher, where it will stare at the person for approximately five (5) minutes before it starts to slowly approach the individual

Addendum-A: The ███████ Forest itself appears to have no correlation with SCP-XXXX other then that SCP-XXXX has taken up "residence" inside the forest, reasons to why are unknown. SCP-XXXX has been heard growling, screeching, panting, and running inside of the forest. Attempts to use Class-D personnel to aggravate SCP-XXXX have all ended in the same way, each Class D Personnel never returned and no traces of the individuals were left, further research into aggravating SCP-XXXX are no longer allowed as of ██/██/88.

Addendum-B: Upon further research, it was discovered that SCP-XXXX somehow "blocks" out any lights and communication powered via electricity. Battery powered light devices and other non-electrical powered lights remain unaffected by SCP-XXXX. (See Incident-XXXX-1)

Incident-XXXX-1

Date: ██/██/89, Time: 2:25 PM

Four (4) MTF personnel, code name Foggy Weather, have been sent into the ███████ Forest, with them they are to wheel a standard floodlight near SCP-XXXX and connect the extended plug (which will be unraveled from the outside) and shine the light on the SCP in attempts to see its form better.

After two (2) hours of searching inside the ███████ Forest, Foggy Weather successfully located SCP-XXXX, they then set up the floodlight, aiming it directly at the SCP, one of the personnel notices that the SCP is staring at them.

SCP-XXXX stands perfectly still in direct line of where the floodlight is aiming, seemingly curious as to what they are doing.

Agent J.R. who was observing Foggy Weather through the night vision cameras notices that the unit has yet to turn the floodlight on, despite the fact that the plug was in.

Agent J.R.: "What's the hold up inside there? The SCP is right there, turn the floodlight on immediately."

Foggy Weather - Charlie: "That's the problem Sir, the floodlight is plugged in, but it won't turn on no matter how many times we try to get it to, did the floodlight get checked to see if it even works?"

Agent J.R.: "Our engineers made sure every part of the floodlight was in working condition, I assure you, it does work, let me try connecting the eletrical current via on-site back-up power."

Agent J.R. the proceeds to switch the floodlight power current from the remote circuit breaker, immediately Area-276's power goes out, emergency lights activate via emergency generator, all communications unknowingly disabled as well.

Agent J.R. and on-site units successfully contacted nearby NTF unit "Bloodhounds", Area-276 was put on lock-down until re-containment was accomplished.

Floodlight was located inside the ███████ Forest, NTF unit proceeded to cut the plugs wire, power was restored inside the building immediately, Search and Rescue granted to find Foggy Weather.

After ██ days, Bloodhounds S&R was called off and Foggy Weather unit was pronounced K.I.A

Area-276 resupplied with military grade flashlights and night vision goggles, on-site power replaced with gas powered generators, reasons as to how SCP-XXXX affected communication when prior to the incident it never had before, is unknown.

Addendum-C: I don't care if we can't see that fucking thing, it nearly broke containment due to your idiocy, we barely know what that thing is fully capable of. If you want to try to see it better so badly then next time use a flashlight, I won't stop you if you want to get closer to that damn thing, we have lost too many Class D and units to it already. -Dr. ██████
