Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5228 is currently uncontainable by physical means, as there are too many instances of SCP-5228. Though, instances of SCP-5228 can be observed via. the SCP Foundations radio receivers within each site, and the use of triangulation by way of the strength of signals received. Note, this is often not possible due to the change of frequencies emitted by SCP-5228. SCP-5228 is permitted to be used by the public, as there is no way of stopping this from happening, and there are no immediate adverse effects observed from SCP-5228.
O-5 █, O-5 █, and Dr.███(Former head, and top technological researcher at Site-15) have all requested that if any recorded instances of SCP-5228 to reach a frequency of above 700 MHz, to initiate protocol "Drown Out", where MTF Mu-4, designated "Debuggers", to immediately be called to a 1-mile radius of the target location. Once reaching the location, 1 quarter of the team will begin searching the area for devices emitting 675-830 MHz and set to block the RF flooder frequency. The other 3 quarters of the team to to begin placing RF flooding devices within 1-mile of SCP-5228. SCP-5228 will then be tracked down and immediately destroyed.
Description: SCP-5228 is a pre-soldered, circuit board, originating from unknown origins. SCP-5228 is 7mm by 5mm in size and has been found in almost every mass manufactured device. Devices that this circuit board has been found in include: Smart phones, TVs, Monitors, Laptops, Desktops, Tablets, Headsets, Earbuds, Refrigerators, Electronic Ovens, Microwaves,and many other commercial, or consumer grade electronics. SCP-5228 properties are unknown, as it has no electrical connections to the components of the board, or the device it is contained within. SCP-5228 does however have structural supports, made up of fibrous plastic-like material, later revealed to have an extremely complex, and unknown molecular makeup.
Despite not having any electrical connections, and its extremely small size, SCP-5228 emits extremely strong radio signals with a varying frequency of, 2 Hz to 830 MHz. SCP-5228 is also surprisingly heavy and dissection of the interior of SCP-5228 has revealed an entirely hollow interior. SCP-5228 is to known to originate within a device within 2 weeks of manufacture. SCP-5228 is known to originate in 85% of devices, this number can fluctuate, through out the year, depending on what products are manufactured.
SCP-5228 is usually emitting a frequency under 100 MHz to 500 MHz maximum. During these phases, SCP-5228 is known to have no anomalous properties and is known to have no effect on life and minimal effect on other electronic devices. If SCP-5228 reaches a frequency below 100 MHz, its wave amplitude becomes significantly larger and begin to affect other electronics devices around it that operate on the same frequency as it. If SCP-5228 reaches a frequency above 500 MHz, than an 10 mile radius advisory should be put over this location. If the device harboring SCP-5228 reaches a frequency above 700 MHz, than protocol "Drown Out" be initiated. As the devices output frequency reaches 700 MHz, SCP-5228 will begin to climb rapidly in output frequency, as will its amplitude. During this phase, and depending on amplitude or staging of the frequency climb, SCP-5228 will either slightly, or significantly, begin to draw power from nearby sources
If SCP-5228 reaches microwave radiation frequency, the device harboring SCP-5228 will begin to rapidly cause things around the device to heat up due to microwave radiation. Previous recordings have shown temperatures in the device to reach ███°C , but SCP-5228 will not be harmed by the intense heat. Though, the device will most likely be damaged or rendered useless in the process. As the frequencies pass this phase, if the device is near on in contact with a person or any organic substance containing water. The person or organic substance will begin to warm or heat up, often sustaining internal or external burns in the process depending on the amplitude and wavelength of the frequency.
If the device harboring SCP-5228 is able to pass the infrared, and visible spectrum. Any video recording device will be able to see the infrared light emitted by SCP-5228 and visible light. And any person will also be able to see the visible light(and potentially blinded depending on how bright). If SCP-5228 enters the Ultraviolet and X-ray frequency range, SCP-5228 will begin to seriously effect all life near or around the it, as well as potentially seriously damaging other electronic devices around it, depending on amplitude. At this point current draw from nearby power sources will be significant, resulting in many devices shutting off, lights dimming, or breakers tripping. At this point, SCP-5228 often is unable to climb the frequency spectrum any more and often drops down to under ███ MHz frequency and resides there, due to lack of nearby power. But if there is still power nearby to be drawn, SCP-5228 will continue to climb the frequency spectrum.
If SCP-5228 is able to gain anymore power, it will continue on a trajectory, exponentially climbing in frequency and amplitude, until no more power can be consumed, and then residing under ███ MHz.
Due to potential loss of widespread of electricity, electronic devices, and possibly life. Dr.███ has considered destruction of such devices reaching 700 Mhz by (and immediate dispatch of) MTF Mu-4, as Beta class priority.
