The Great Pumpkin Entity is a primeval entity of immense size and power, bearing an uncanny resemblance to Satan in both appearance and role. It is one of the so-called “Old Ones” who made their home at the center of the planet before the Great Event, the cataclysmic event which eventually caused the Flood. The Great Pumpkin is a formidable monster, weighing in at least 3,000 tons, made almost entirely of stone, and possessing an imposing, gargantuan, scorpion-like scaly body. It has eyes that glow red in the dark, and a protruding jaw that can be opened in two separate sections, allowing it to swallow prey whole and devour it. The Great Pumpkin has, on several occasions, displayed the ability to use some psionic and thaumaturgic abilities with relative ease, including psychic incapacitating and nuclear storm disruption. The Chief Rapscallion has classified as a Gamer-Chungus level troublemaker.

In the year One Hundred Trillion/100 Trillion (1,000,000,000,000,000 CE), Biggleston Chung wrote the first of the Great Dialogues, on the topic of the 24 known (at the time) Penile Realities. It is considered to be the greatest piece of literature originating from Plopland, and one of the greatest works of all time. He continued to write further dialogues concerning the Penis in the years that followed.

In the year 2689 CE, the SS-Legion Poopenfarten (SS Legion of Poop and Fart) was activated and deployed to the planet Gfxgkgbnh in the Chungus-Administered Buffer Zone (CABZ). The first companies landed in the territory of Sheikh Cromwell, a vassal of Shahanshah Penis. The rules of engagement at the time meant that they could not engage with the numerically superior enemy in combat. Instead, they would capture castles, villages and industry, forcing the local rulers to pay tribute. This lasted a mere eight months before they were brought to full attention by the superior might of the Tankentürme von Mardia of the Regent Rasundighan. This new threat to the region spurred the combined military forces of the Kingdom of Mardia and the neighboring nation of Adrabadkhan together. The following month, when SAC's ammunition supplies finally ran out, a great winter storm ravaged the city, which resulted in mass casualties of all those stationed within the walls.
Two days later, General Kentsel caught word of SAC's plight and led the outnumbered force to safety.
Though his plane was damaged, he was the only one of the eight pilots to walk away.
KENTSELL, whose head was shaven to better blend in with the locals, survived his ordeal in the wilds of Gfxgkgbnh.
And his story, along with that of Chief Warrant Officer First Class Christopher Merks, brought the men of the 317th to the attention of The Today Show.
About a year and a half after the initial invasion, the SS-Legion Poopenfarten was all but destroyed by an orbital bombardment from a rather large Chungusian auxiliary strategy fleet. There were at least 1,000,000 Poopenfarten casualties during the bombardment itself, as well as an additional 600,000 casualties in the ensuing months. Several of the units tried to retreat and regroup around Galbraith, but they were intercepted and surrounded by the Chungusian reinforcements. Unable to escape from their doomed ships, they were destroyed by conventional explosives.
The final stage of the war for Galbraith came in 2691. At the time, there were thousands of failed Baronies dotted throughout the reaches of the Barony, and the old bloodlines of powerful people still existed in some of the former courts, primarily around Abergeld
The collapse of the Chungusian Empire came about slowly and painfully. It began when the military dictator and emperor, P. Boonk Penon Cumwelt, died of pneumonia. Following this, the empire was divided between Cumwelt's children into three regions, known as "constituents." At first, these constituents were unified as a confederation under the government of the "Boonk Gang," an administration of elected and appointed officials who had close ties to the Cumwelt dynasty. Unfortunately for the Boonk Gang, relations slowly deteriorated between the constituents, mainly due to growing cultural differences as a result of Penon Cumwelt's death, the three descendants vying for total centralized control over the empire's realms, and near-universal calls by civilians to resurrect the monarchy. Tensions rose further as the areas were taxed heavily by the Boonk Gang, and led to further calls for the reintroduction of the monarchy. In response, the elite of the Boonk Gang decided that Penon Cumwelt's reign was a failure, citing the failing relations between the constituents as an example of the poor state of the dynasty. It was decided that his dynasty should be removed from the Boonk Gang altogether. On 5 October 2701, during a meeting in Paguri, the dynasty was deposed and replaced by a new ruler, former Queen Siti Wadud Shah, who established herself as the "Arch-Matriach of the Three Republics."
This did not sit well with Cumwelt's three descendants, who were still relatively in control of their constituents. During the Pissville Peace Conference, they formed the "Grand Reclamation Government," which was made up of the three constituents and all of their willing vassals. Vassals who supported the Boonk Gang declared that the constituents were illegitimate, false rulers and left the constituents to form their own local governments, known as "republics." These republics were incorporated into the territory controlled by the Boonk Gang and were governed almost entirely by the Arch-Matriarch herself. A third faction, consisting of vassals who were displeased with both the Boonk Gand and the Cumwelt Dynasty, seceded from the Union of the Three Republics (The name of the Chungusian realms under Siti Wadud Shah) entirely and proclaimed the Paxum Union, a new government which declared itself to be the legitimate government of all of Chungusia.
By mid-2704, tensions had reached a breaking point. The Bol Chungonium, the Boonk Gang's secret police, had launched violent crackdowns against protesters and supporters of the two opposing factions in early 2703. The Arch-Matriach had attempted, on several occasions, to assassinate the descendants of Penon Cumwelt to no avail. Moreover, the Secretary of War, Minvar, had taken steps to draft a force of explicitly human military and civilian advisors into the backbiting Hexacorps, precipitating the power struggle. Finally, the three sides had opened direct fighting in the streets of Kirinmon, the most powerful of the Cumwelt family holdings.

The Goons, for example, had a fear of petty theft, the mob lifestyle, and it was the security presence of a valuable commodity far away that was finally found to have prompted their involvement in the conflict.
Most importantly, though, the Goons wanted what most pirates wished: to go beyond merely making a living, to accumulate power and influence that would make the life of piracy a truly civilized affair.
The Chungusian Civil War officially begun on 9 Septober 2724, following the Battle of Port Penis. A Cumwelt merchant ship was just departing, preparing to travel across the system to the planet Gamerland. Before it could take off, the ship was attacked by agents of the Bol Chungonium, resulting in nearly 4,000 deaths and the destruction of the ship. The Bol Chungonium claimed that the ship was an illegal smuggler ship that had just escaped Port Penis' custody.
The Bol Chungonium and the ground forces of the Cumwelt began fighting over control of Port Penis. During the chaos, Zam Zam arrived at Port Penis on a Trade Corps ship. He, along with his nephew Simon Kim, made it to the Port, where they joined in the fight. The Plop Rouge was the de facto government of Plopland from 5374 CE to 5489 CE. It came to power following the Plopland Crisis and Big Chungus' military coup. Under the Plop Rouge, Plopland shifted from being a loose collection of disparate feudal states to being a unitary, highly centralized dictatorial regime. This sudden shift caused many problems, such as a decline in the quality of life for the commoners and a severe economic crisis. These problems led to the abolition of the Plop Rouge in 5489 CE, and the adoption of democratic reform.
The Plop Rouge is characterized by being particularly oppressive, especially in the race department. During the Rouge, many laws (decrees) were created with the intent of segregating and oppressing any non-Ploplandian race. the Plop Rouge's secret police, known as the Grumfumblus, was feared universally due to its violent crackdowns against dissenters and its brutal forced sterilizations of anyone it deemed undesirable. Their signature piece of equipment was the Flarex, a square bar that would burn anything it touches to the ground.
The Plop Rouge also used a secret penal code, known as the Geana, which was the main penal code used by the Grumfublus to carry out their operations. The Geana was extremely harsh, with most crimes resulting in a death sentence, including relatively minor aggressions such as vandalism or fraud. The Geana also allowed torture, with some punishments being rape, branding, electrocution, and bloodletting. A victim's entire family (even distant relatives) could be executed for the same crime. The Ploplandian term for this is geana, which is where the penal code got its name.
Not everyone was subjected to the harsh penal code of Plop Rouge. The children of wealthy parents were exempted from its most severe punishments. However, to ensure the punishment was more widely felt, if someone stole something from a wealthy family he or she would lose several fingers (e.g. with the index, middle, ring and little fingers). Another law considered to be extreme was the Law of Redemption, as it required the loser of a dispute to stand on a sand-covered platform holding a live snake. The snake would wrap its coils around the waist of the offending party, forcing the other party to release his or her money.
The only check on these abuses was the existence of village councils that functioned as a form of government. Although the councils, which consisted of rich landowners and local tradesmen, enjoyed the same authority as the Ploplandian elite, they did not pass laws that could violate the serf's rights.
The Plop Rouge was toppled during the Bloody Monday Incident, in which nearly 12,000 Ploplandian citizens stormed the Plophall (the main administrative building of the Plop Rouge). During the event, the citizens were able to take control of the government, where they then declared the Republic of Democratic Plopland. The former leaders of the Rouge were arrested and exiled to locations in the Buffer Zone. The Plop Rouge was also subsequently abolished, along with the Grumfumblus and the Grand Peace Corps of the Ploplandian Armed Forces.
The Republic of Democratic Plopland was first established in 5489 CE by a group of people who had participated in the Bloody Monday Incident. For decades, Plopland had been ruled by a totalitarian government that used extreme censorship, isolationism, and political persecution to suppress dissent. When this regime was abolished, the resulting power vacuum created an opportunity for Plopland to reemerge as a democratic political entity and to come into its own as a modern republic. It is, after all, a perfectly civilized nation that gives everyone a voice regardless of gender, race, age, ability, or previous criminal history.
Citizens of the republic are treated to a plucky approach to governance; where rights are equally distributed by public vote, an extensive civic program allows citizens to make changes and seek redress through an efficient and easily accessible rule-making process.
These changes did not come about easily, though. The rule of the Plop Rouge had all but annihilated the economy, drained stockpiled resources, and destroyed the industry. This made the first democratically-elected president, Peepo Ploopy, initiate the Six-Year Plan, which would stabilize the country and return it to the status of an industrial, agricultural, and economic superpower.
In order to implement this plan, President Peepo Ploopy reestablished the colony of Manny's Mount on the planet Kluppwell. The remilitarized territory, with its arid climate and rugged terrain, had been kept as a territory with rich resources of gold and platinum. However, it was closed off to prevent its exploitation and destruction.
