Foreword: Experiment conducted by Dr. Burnhardt to determine the importance of SCP-XXXX-3's presence between SCP-XXXX-1 and -2. Dr. Burnhardt hypothesizes separating SCP-XXXX-1 and -2 may be helpful in containing SCP-XXXX.
During the experiment, SCP-XXXX will be split up, with each half in a different, adjoining room. The rooms can be viewed into each other by a bullet-proof window. One room will be the experimentation room, where the present half of SCP-XXXX will be asked to do a task. The other room will be the waiting room, where the other half will wait. Only after the task is complete will the halves be allowed to unite with each other. The process will then repeat, with the other half being required to complete a task.
Time before and after the disappearance of SCP-XXXX-3 is tracked through the duration of this experiment, with 00:00:00 being the moment SCP-XXXX-3 is no longer detectable.
Log:
-00:04:43: SCP-XXXX-2 is taken into the waiting room. SCP-XXXX-3 is observed to extend between SCP-XXXX-1 and -2 through the window. SCP-XXXX-1 is asked by Dr. Burnhardt to begin working on a packet of mathematics. The packet begins with calculus problems and SCP-XXXX-1 begins working through it quickly. SCP-XXXX-2, in the other room, sits quietly under the supervision of two guards armed with standard-issue tasers.
-00:04:37: SCP-XXXX-3 has noticeably begun to fade.
00:00:00: SCP-XXXX-3 fades from sight. SCP-XXXX-1 continues to work, seemingly unaware of the fact. SCP-XXXX-2 does not react.
00:00:48: SCP-XXXX-1 displays discomfort, as though it cannot find a comfortable posture. SCP-XXXX-2 begins to display a similar state of restlessness.
00:01:52: SCP-XXXX-1 stops its work and asks if SCP-XXXX-2 may come back into the room, if only to stand and stare at the wall. Dr. Burnhardt asks it to finish the equations. It goes back to work. SCP-XXXX-2 is observed to be staring at its attendants with disdain.
00:16:27: SCP-XXXX-1 begins to take constant breaks from its work, staring through the glass at SCP-XXXX-2 and fidgeting in its seat. SCP-XXXX-2 attempts to get up and is pushed back into its seat by one of the guards. SCP-XXXX-2 vocalizes anger at the guard, but complies.
00:52:45: SCP-XXXX-1 abandons its work and attempts to walk towards SCP-XXXX-2. SCP-XXXX-2 does the same, attempting to move toward SCP-XXXX-1. Both are stopped by guards. Dr. Burnhardt asks SCP-XXXX-1 to go back to its work. SCP-XXXX-1 asks if it will be able to return to its other half if it does. Dr. Burnhardt tells it yes, and it returns to the table to resume its work. SCP-XXXX-2 fights against the guards restraining it, making sounds of anger and distress, showing no sign of understanding their requests for it to return to its seat.
00:53:13: SCP-XXXX-2 is tased and loses its ability to fight back. Attempts to resist the guards prove futile as they force it back into its seat. SCP-XXXX-1 looks upon the scene in alarm, but continues its work.
1:00:57: SCP-XXXX-2 regains the ability to push against its guards and attempts again to push past them. It kicks one of the guards in [redacted] and is tased. SCP-XXXX-1 attempts the last question: 0/0.
1:05:34: SCP-XXXX-1 writes [redacted] to solve the equation. The door is opened and SCP-XXXX is allowed to reunite. SCP-XXXX-3 appears as it closes the 5 meter distance and reaches full brightness in the space of three seconds. SCP-XXXX is observed to [redacted].
1:06:00/-0:04:40: SCP-XXXX is split again. SCP-XXXX-2 remains in the experiment room, while SCP-XXXX-1 is escorted into the waiting room. SCP-XXXX-1 sits peacefully in the chair. Dr. Burnhardt asks SCP-XXXX-2 to begin work on a packet of paper full of prompts to draw different images. SCP-XXXX-2 is told that it will be reunited with SCP-XXXX-1 once the packet is done. SCP-XXXX-2 looks at Dr. Burnhardt, then stares at SCP-XXXX-1.
-00:04:35: SCP-XXXX-3 noticeably begins to fade.
-00:03:56: SCP-XXXX-2 looks at the packet, reading the first prompt.
-00:03:32: SCP-XXXX-2 flips to the next page, reading the next prompt. This process continues, as SCP-XXXX-2 continues to flip to the next page every twenty to thirty seconds.
00:00:00: SCP-XXXX-3 fades from sight. SCP-XXXX-2 flips back to the first page to draw, otherwise seemingly unaware of the fact. SCP-XXXX-1 tells its guards that SCP-XXXX-2 will not be able to read any more prompts.
00:05:31: SCP-XXXX-2 finishes the first picture and moves on to the next one. Both SCP-XXXX-1 and -2 have begun to display discomfort and restlessness.
00:11:48: SCP-XXXX-2 finishes the second picture and moves on to the third.
00:17:54: SCP-XXXX-2 finishes the third picture and moves on to the fourth.
00:19:38: SCP-XXXX-2 begins to be distracted, looking around the room and at SCP-XXXX-1. Requests from Dr. Burnhardt to continue drawing are ignored. SCP-XXXX-2 returns to drawing on its own whim.
00:28:23: SCP-XXXX-2 finishes the fourth picture, incorrectly responding to the fifth prompt. It moves on to the fifth picture. SCP-XXXX-1 explains that SCP-XXXX-2 is halfway through what it knows to do.
00:43:05: SCP-XXXX-2 finishes the fifth picture, incorrectly responding to the fourth prompt. The detail of SCP-XXXX-2's sketches is observed to have dropped as it appears to be trying to rush through them, despite its distractions.
00:47:54: SCP-XXXX-2 finishes the sixth picture without distraction. The picture is noted to be hastily done with very little detail.
00:50:28: SCP-XXXX-2 finishes the seventh picture in the same fashion as the sixth.
00:52:49: SCP-XXXX-2 finishes the eighth picture in a very agitated manner. It stands after it's done and throws the packet at Dr. Burnhardt, stepping toward SCP-XXXX-1. SCP-XXXX-1 continues to sit, stating that SCP-XXXX-2 can't do any more. Dr. Burnhardt orders SCP-XXXX-2 to wait upon seeing the packet unfinished. The guards restrain SCP-XXXX-2 when it doesn't comply. SCP-XXXX-1 explains that SCP-XXXX-2 cannot understand words anymore and that asking it to do more is irrational. As SCP-XXXX-2's protests become more violent, Dr. Burnhardt orders SCP-XXXX be reunited.
Notes: SCP-XXXX-3 appears an integral part of SCP-XXXX. Dr. Burnhardt's original idea that removing SCP-XXXX-3 entirely might cripple SCP-XXXX has proved wrong. Both SCP-XXXX-1 and -2 are able to act on their own with intelligence. Containment of SCP-XXXX-2 has been proven easier when SCP-XXXX-1 is around to be reasoned with, due to SCP-XXXX-2's inability to understand words or language without it.
