Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to kept on a table within an approximately 5x5x5 square meter room. The containment room is to be guarded at all times by approximately four (4) armed guards, rotating shifts every 8 hours. The room is to be equipped with approximately four (4) closed-circuit security cameras all pointed directly at SCP-XXXX. The floor, walls, and ceiling of the room will be reinforced concrete of at least 30 centimeter thickness. The containment room will contain no windows or natural light of any kind, and the entrance will be a standard █████ Vault Door, equipped with approximately nine (9) locking mechanisms, and a code that will be randomized every seven (7) days by a Foundation-approved random number generator.
A rotating group of Foundation security personnel will monitor the room at all times (via the security system), from a secure location within Site-██. The group will consist of twenty (20) members of Security personnel, with each team consisting of five (5) members. Each team will rotate monitoring of SCP-XXXX approximately every six (6) hours. Besides the security personnel, no Foundation personnel below Level 3 are to be allowed within the premises of either the monitoring room or the containment room, and no Foundation personnel below Level 4 are to be allowed within approximately 1.5 meters of SCP-XXXX.
In the case of a Class-1 Event, A team consisting of approximately 10 plainclothes members is to be dispatched to the new location of SCP-XXXX in order to retrieve SCP-XXXX, and return it to safety at Site-██. This team, designated SCP-XXXX-T, are to remain on standby at all times, due to the relative frequency of a Class-1 Incident. SCP-XXXX-T consists of a total of 30 plainclothes Foundation members, with each team consisting of 10 of these members. They are to rotate in shifts, at the same times as that of the monitoring team. SCP-XXXX-T are to remain in constant contact with the monitoring team, with check-ins between each side every 30 to 45 minutes. SCP-XXXX-T are to use standard Foundation-issue amnestics for any direct witnesses of SCP-XXXX's materializations. The team is to destroy all photographs and other evidence of a transportation Event. SCP-XXXX-T is not required for a Class-2 or Class-3 event. A separate plainclothes team of 5 will be dispatched during either events.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a 203 millimetre W33 Nuclear Artillery Shell. It is unknown whether the shell is inert or live. There are no identifying markings on SCP-XXXX. It appears to transport itself instantaneously, through unidentified means, to a completely random point on Earth, at a completely random interval between transportations. SCP-XXXX is equipped with a long-range tracking device in the case of a Class-1, 2, or 3 Event.
Each transportation of SCP-XXXX is designated into events of three classes. A Class-1 Event is a transportation in which SCP-XXXX has re-appeared in a location further than 500 meters from the original location of SCP-XXXX. A Class-2 Event is a transportation in which SCP-XXXX has appeared between 100 and 500 meters from the original location. A Class-3 Event is a transportation in which SCP-XXXX has appeared below 100 meters from the original location.
All observations of a transportation Event have been on land, between 10 and 1,000 meters above sea level. SCP-XXXX tends to not appear in extreme-cold or extreme-heat locations, although instances of it doing so have been observed. It is unknown if the shell is capable of transporting to other planets, space, a mid-air location, or the ocean, as it has never been observed to do so. It has also never been observed to transport itself to vehicles, such as airplanes or boats. SCP-XXXX does not materialize within other matter, and tends to keep a "safe" distance from walls, objects, trees, etc. of at least 10 centimeters. The interval between each transportation Event is currently hypothesized to be random, as no pattern has been observed. The current range of transportation intervals has been observed to be anywhere from 33 seconds to 49 days. Typical intervals appear to be around 13 to 18 hours.
Due to the potentially dangerous nature of SCP-XXXX (equivalent to approximately 20 kilotonnes of TNT), experiments on SCP-XXXX are highly restricted. It is completely restricted for any personnel to attempt to deconstruct, disarm, open, or otherwise disrupt the structure of SCP-XXXX. Experiments in which personnel do not touch (both directly and indirectly) SCP-XXXX, however, are allowed, such as attempting to influence either the interval or the position of a transportation Event.
Addendum: After Class-1 Event ███, restroom breaks for monitoring room personnel on a "shift" are now no longer allowed. (Effective 01/08/2009)
