SCP 4XXX: cows and cows and cows and cows and

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4XXX is to be kept in a lead-lined, foam-padded safe in Site 09's PSY/CH¹ containment wing. Personnel assigned to SCP-4XXX's containment and study are to maintain a strict vegetarian diet² and are to undergo psychological screening semi-annually, or as directed by security oversight. Any notable increase in empathic or anti-authoritarian tendency is grounds for immediate reassignment, with amnestics to be administered at the discretion of site security and the current research lead.

SCP-4XXX-1 may be used for historical or linguistic research. Researchers interested in contacting SCP-4XXX-1, in addition to observing the necessary dietary restrictions for not less than six months, must familiarize themselves with Document-4XXX-B3.

Description: SCP-4XXX is a fossil skull from an unknown bovine species resembling domestic cattle, albeit considerably larger. Radiocarbon dating places the death of the organism SCP-4XXX was taken from at around the 4th century BCE, although consensus among Foundation paleontologists³ is that the fossil is likely older, with estimates ranging from the 10th to 12th century BCE. The skull is extraordinarily well-preserved, with only minor surface damage consistent with other objects found in ███████ around the same period. Object resembles a standard specimen of Bors taurus⁴ aside from its large, prominent horns. Specimen is also larger overall, measuring 2.2m from horn to horn, and has a much larger cranial cavity proportional to its volume compared to a standard Bors taurus skull.

SCP-4XXX contains an entity, hereafter designated SCP-4XXX-1, which may be contacted via a ritual described in Addendum-4XXX-3A. SCP-4XXX-1 may also manifest itself in certain conditions besides ritual summoning, although these conditions appear to be ones which greatly agitate the entity and are therefore not indicated for research purposes.
