CONTINUED LIFE SIGNS CONFIRMED. WELCOME, AUTHORISED PERSONNEL
SCP-XXXX OBJECT FILE.
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Keter
Special containment procedures: All instances of SCP-XXXX are to be disposed of via an incinerator bin. Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the death of any specific case of SCP-XXXX are strictly prohibited. Any subject who is given an inquiry of this nature is to be immediately sedated and administered a Class 1A Amnestic. In the event that a subject who is given such an inquiry dies before the above procedures can be carried out, either inside or outside of the Foundation, Protocol XXXX-ALPHA is to be initiated. Protocol XXXX-ALPHA is as follows:
• A thorough investigation is to be carried out into the subject’s associates. All staff members and members of the public who know about the existence of the subject, particularly close friends and family members, are to be given a Class 1A Amnestic.
• All information about the subject is to be removed from both Foundation and public records.
• The subject’s body is to be disposed of via an incinerator bin.
Authorised agents are to be planted into the public police forces and private investigation agencies with the task of investigating any suicides and reporting any cases of SCP-XXXX in the public.
Description: SCP-XXXX is the collective designation for all subjects who have died as a result of the memetic effects of earlier cases of SCP-XXXX.
When a subject is given an inquiry regarding the death of any specific case of SCP-XXXX, they will invariably commit suicide while attempting to demonstrate how SCP-XXXX died. If possible, they will do so in the same manner as SCP-XXXX (suicide by a fatal gunshot wound to the head). This effect will occur even if the subject is not aware of the circumstances surrounding the death of SCP-XXXX. The subject will then possess the same memetic effects as SCP-XXXX.
Destruction of SCP-XXXX’s body does not appear to neutralise its memetic effects. Despite this, procedures to destroy the body are still in place, since a dead body or evidence of its former presence will inevitably trigger an inquiry into how it died. Attempts to prevent affected subjects from committing suicide have revealed that administration of a Class 1A Amnestic will “cure” them. In addition, earlier incidents involving SCP-XXXX have revealed that the memetic effects do not appear to be triggered if the subject is given an inquiry in a language they do not understand. It is therefore accepted that the subject must be able to both comprehend and remember the inquiry in order to be affected by it.
