An Inconspicuous Crop Field

Item #: SCP-3141

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: The area containing SCP-3141 and instances of SCP-3141-1 is to be surrounded by chain-linked fencing at least 1.5 meters in height. The fences surrounding the property are to include signs that indicate the area as private land, as to deter trespassers. Trespassers caught entering SCP-3141’s containment are to be detained by on-site security, posing as local law enforcement, and given Class C amnesiacs before release. SCP-3141 is to be monitored by Mobile Observation Units, as well as by on-site researchers posing as farmers, between the months of May and November, as instances of SCP-3141-1 only appear in between the previously stated months. Should instances of SCP-3141-1 be spotted, Mobile Task Force Iota-9 “Cornhuskers” are to be notified and terminate the instances with small arms fire.

Description: SCP-3141 is a plot of farmland, approximately 35 acres, located in [REDACTED], Illinois. The plot is used to grow wheat and corn, which is also grown in the surrounding area on non-anomalous plots of farmland. The land is listed as belonging to the [DATA EXPUNGED] family. The elderly couple, which are currently cooperating with the Foundation by allowing the establishment of an Observation Post on their property, first reported anomalous activities on June 8th, 1995, when they reported what sounded like "several rabid dogs."

Further research into the source of the noise led to the discovery of anomalous specimens, which henceforth will be designated as SCP-3141-1. Specimens of 3141-1 have been described as resembling members of the Canis latrans species, standing quadrupedal at a height of approximately 0.67 meters and a length of 0.85 meters. Instances of SCP-5359-1 are also described as having a fur color composing of various shades of khaki and brown, as to allow the instances to camouflage themselves with the crops. SCP-3141-1 are carnivorous, with their diet mainly consisting of small mammals, such as chipmunks and moles. However, instances of SCP-3141-1 have also been shown to have an instinctual aggression towards humans. If a human approaches within 30 meters of an instance of SCP-3141-1, the entity will enter an aggressive state. Instances of SCP-3141-1 have been recorded at running at top speeds of 40 kilometers per hour.

SCP-3141-1 instances attack by using their teeth to bite onto prey, as well as their frontal claws to scratch and hold down prey. SCP-3141-1 have been shown to be very vulnerable to damage however, as multiple tests have shown that specimens have very low bone density, much comparable to the bones of chickens. As such, MTF Iota-9 (“Cornhuskers”) have been issued with Colt M635 submachine guns, chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum, as to provide the minimum required amount of firepower to counter SCP-3141-1 instances. Observation Post 2612 has been established in order to prevent the breach of specimens from containment, as SCP-3141 sits directly next to Illinois Route [REDACTED].
