Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP XXXX is contained within a secure, climate-controlled observation room at Sector-25. Under no circumstances is anyone permitted to touch or sit on SCP XXXX. Failure to comply will result in termination.

Samples of SCP XXXX-1 "blood" are kept in airtight biohazard containers, within a secure vault at Sector-25. Personnel are advised to use extreme caution when handling SCP XXXX-1 samples, and are required to wear protective bio-suits.

As of now, there is no known vaccine or cure for SCP XXXX-1. Therefore, because of the hazardous nature of the disease, all subjects who have contracted SCP XXXX-1 are to be destroyed, and their remains incinerated. Individuals who have contracted a separate anomalous disease from direct skin contact with SCP XXXX-1 blood are not required to be destroyed. The fate of said individuals are determined at the Sector Head's discretion.

Description: SCP XXXX is a large wooden structure which resembles a conventional throne, measuring 2.18m tall (7 ft, 2 inches) and 2.52m wide (99 inches). The base of the chair is made up of the many roots of the former tree, identified to be that of an oak, approximately 3500 years old. Carefully crafted steps are carved into the dead roots that lead up to the seat itself. Engraved into the arms and backrests are unidentifiable runic symbols and faces.

When standing in the same room as SCP XXXX, test subjects will claim to feel a strong compulsion to sit on it, the strength of said compulsion varying from person to person. Few may need to be physically restrained, others may only display a passing interest in sitting on SCP XXXX. Test subjects who were raised in poverty usually do not have very strong desires to sit on SCP XXXX. However, individuals born into wealth typically display intense obsessions with sitting on the structure. 15% of test subjects from Devon, England, may claim to hear and/or see the faces on the structure speak to them, urging them to sit on the throne.

After sitting on SCP XXXX, the subject will be instantly flooded with feelings of overwhelming ecstasy and confidence. They will then experience a sharp boost in mental acuity, physical strength and intelligence, being able to comprehend and speak any language and lift up to 100 times their own body weight. However, though the subject may now understand any language, their own preferred language will be replaced with old English (mid-5th century). The affected subjects will then suffer delusions of grandeur, claiming to be “the rightful king/queen” and the sole occupant of SCP XXXX. The subject will exhibit strong apprehensions to getting off the structure, even having to be forcibly removed in some cases. These delusions will continue to persist until the latter stages of the anomalous effect, 7 to 8 days later.

Subjects who sit on SCP XXXX will have contracted SCP XXXX-1, a non-communicable disease. The subject will begin to suffer an intense fever and an overwhelming sense of fatigue and weakness. Shortly after, the subject will begin to bleed: at first, from typical regions such as the nose, gums, and mouth. Then as time passes, the bleeding effect will spread to the eyes and ears, then out through the rectum and genitals. Then, the subject will begin bleeding from the small pores of their skin, resulting in the appearance of “sweating blood.” The bleeding is intense, and cannot be stymied with any medical solutions.

Though the bleeding itself is painless, subjects will complain of deep, aching pain from within their bones— theorised to be complications of the bone marrow as they are forced to produce more blood. As SCP XXXX-1 takes its course, the subject’s muscles will start to atrophy, and they will be incapable of movement. Within a week, without the proper amount of blood being supplied to the subject's internal organs, they will start to fail one by one until the body shuts down completely. However, through the use of constant blood transfusions, subjects are able to be kept alive indefinitely.

SCP XXXX-1 is not contagious. However, for the subjects that contract SCP XXXX-1 that happen to have children or grandchildren, the disease will automatically manifest in said offspring, regardless of distance or if the subject has been in contact with them. It is unclear what causes this transmission. It is interesting to note that the further down the subject's genetic line the disease is spread, the weaker it becomes. While the subject's immediate children may suffer the typical effects of SCP XXXX-1, their own children and their own children’s children may only suffer light bleeding, indistinguishable from haemophilia.

SCP XXXX-1 can only be contracted by sitting on SCP XXXX, or being a descendant of someone who has sat on SCP XXXX. However, when a subject comes into physical contact with the blood of an individual afflicted with SCP XXXX-1, they may develop separate diseases such as gout, bubonic plague, tuberculosis, measles, typhoid fever, typhus, smallpox, syphilis, leprosy, cancer, heart disease, and SCP 742.
