Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Threat Level: ● Yellow
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained within a completely white room, 2m by 2m by 2m. The entire ceiling of the chamber must have fluorescent lights that remain on throughout the day. It is imperative that these lights be wired directly to the back-up generators, in case of a black-out.
Mobile Task Force Omega-3 (“Athena’s Hands”) must enter SCP-XXXX’s containment chamber monthly, and manoeuvre SCP-XXXX into a titanium-gold alloy1 box using magnets. At no point is a member of Mobile Task Force Omega-3 to make physical contact with SCP-XXXX. Said box should be 40cm by 40cm by 40cm, although the size may vary by 30cm either way if SCP-XXXX happens to change size. The inside of the box must be coated with Bis-(2,4,5-trichloro-6-(pentyloxycarbonyl)phenyl)oxalate,2 and must be exposed to high energy ultraviolet light for a minimum of 90 minutes, before SCP-XXXX is inserted into it.
Once SCP-XXXX is securely within the box, its chamber must be thoroughly cleaned, making sure that the walls are reflective enough to reflect 97% of light of that hits it. Measurements are to be taken all around SCP-XXXX’s chamber using a Lux meter. If any point in the chamber has a reading lower than 20,000 lux, it must be repainted, replaced, or further cleaned. Once the walls have been confirmed to be reflective enough, Mobile Task Force Omega-3 may remove SCP-XXXX from the box and put it back on the pedestal.
Description: SCP-XXXX is an small,3 undulating entity, resembling many intersecting, semitransparent stingray fins. Small blue sparks can also sometimes be seen within its center. Parts of its physical manifestation4 seem to grow, shrink, and contort slowly over time.
Many subjects report seeing a glow around SCP-XXXX, where instead of emitting light, it emits darkness. This observation was backed up by Lux meter readings during Test XXXX-2. Certain subjects also report being able to hear a subtle crackling sound and a low hum, but audio recordings have yet to be able to pick up on these sounds. It is predicted that these sounds are auditory hallucinations caused by the entity, or sounds created by the subjects mind trying to perceive it.
SCP-XXXX has the ability to contort and change the world around it, if the area it wished to change is dark enough. If all areas around it are bright, it loses the ability to contort its surroundings. Tests put the amount of light needed to stop its abilities at a minimum of 20,000 Lux. However, the glow of darkness emanating from SCP-XXXX allows it to contort objects directly within its vicinity. When contorting organic matter, the entity is able to physically change the creature in a way that should make it unable to survive, yet keep it functioning, abeit in immense pain.
Addendum XXXX.1
Test XXXX-1 ██/██/████
Subjects:
D-215681, a 23 year old Caucasian male of below average build and who was convicted of ██████ █████ 9 days prior. Referred to as ‘One’ for convenience.
D-220506, a 19 year old Caucasian female of average build and who was demoted to D-Class after mishandling another Keter class creature. Referred to as ‘Two’ for convenience.
D-211549, a 37 year old African American who was involved with a group attempting to infiltrate Foundation Site-23. Referred to as ‘Three’ for convenience.
Foreword: After conflicted opinions within the Foundation staff regarding its exact size, shape, colour, and sound, it was discovered that has a mental effect on those who perceive it. Various D-Class personnel were brought into holding chamber of the entity.
Dr. ███████: Please enter the containment cell.
Two: What the hell is that thing! It’s like some sort of [DATA EXPUNGED] entity!
Dr. ███████: Three, please describe the creature.
Three: Uh, yes. It looks.. kinda like those.. y’know the, uh, fins on a stingray? Like those but inside each other. [Three shudders] Really weird. Kinda makes me queasy looking at it.
Dr. ███████: Thank you.
Two: Hey do you hear that? A bit quiet but still there…
Dr. ███████: Two, can you describe the sound please.
Two: I swear █████, if you call me ‘two’ again I will get fucking pissed! I know you remember my name, we used to be in the same research team and I -
[Two is cut of by Dr. ███████]
Dr. ███████: I’m sorry but it’s protocol. You should know this, and you should also know that you may not refer to an interviewer by anything other than ‘Doctor’ or their surname, unless given permission. Now please, describe the sound from the entity.
Two: Fine. It’s like a crackling of some sort. Like sparks or a.. campfire.
Dr. ███████: Thank you. Now, One, can you describe your perception of the entity please?
[One is crouched down on the floor seemingly in pain or distress]
Dr. ███████: One, can you hear me, are you ok?
[One falls to his knees, shaking, and attempts to cover his eyes from the light of the fluorescent bulb above him. He makes sounds indicating that he is in large amounts of pain]
Dr. ███████: One please confirm your state! One! [SUBJECT NAME]! Oh Jesus!
[SCP-XXXX starts to grow in size by approximately 30-50%, and the sounds reported by Two increases in volume]
Three: Holy fuck! What is happening! [He screams loudly] Get me out of here!
Dr.███████: Security! We need help! Get One to the hospital wing! Two, Three, we have to leave now!
[Security enters quickly and removes One from the room. The others run out of the room as well and the door is closed and locked. Security camera footage shows the entity growing to 180% of its original size]
Afterword: One was brought to the hospital wing where doctors found his body - most notably his chest - covered in geometric scars and burns.5 These scars were hot to the touch, and could only have been created anomalously.
Two had no injuries after the incident, and Three was left with only mild dizziness. This has led many to believe that SCP-XXXX was directly attacking One, but the reason for this is unknown.
Addendum XXXX.2
Following the incident in Addendum XXXX.1, experimentation with SCP-XXXX was restricted, needing approval from a Level-5 personnel. One’s scars never healed and his burns still feel hot, after ██ days. After and X-Ray scan of One to determine the cause of the injuries, it was found that there were large holes 4-7cm in diameter within his inner tissue. Due to these anomalies, One has been designated SCP-XXXX-1 and is not to come near SCP-XXXX.
SCP-XXXX-1 has had █ violent muscle contractions since the incident. Personnel in proximity to SCP-XXXX-1 report a loud static and/or crackling sound during these muscle contractions. SCP-XXXX-1 is incapable of speech or movement after the contractions, and it often found perspiring more than usual.
Test XXXX-2 ██/██/████
Foreword: The footage of the incident was reviewed, and scientists found that SCP-XXXX-1 had been attempting to block his face from the light above him. This detail had not been payed close attention to due to Dr. ███████ ordering the D-Class personnel to exit the room as fast as they could.
Dr. ███ brought Lux meters into SCP-XXXX’s containment chamber, and set them up around the room. He then dimmed the lights and recorded the luminosity. He also let a living creature of the species Felis Catus into the chamber to detect its affect on living being.
At 20,000 Lux the specimen is inert. It is at its smallest size of approximately 15cm.
At 15,000 Lux the specimen’s glow of darkness appears to increase in intensity. Lux meter reading back up this observation.
At 10,000 Lux, SCP-XXXX’s self-contortions speed up. It is now approximately 22cm across. The animal inside the chamber appears more stressed and frantic
At 8,000 Lux, the chambers walls begin to contort. SCP-XXXX is approximately 3cm across.
At 5,000 Lux, the living creature looks to be in pain. Its fur moves as if there is a strong wind in the chamber.
At 3,000 Lux, the geometry of the room is unrecognisable, and the feline appears to have geometric protrusions on its body. The crackling noise is loud enough to be heard through the glass separating Dr. ███ from the chamber. At this point, the experiment was forcibly ended, after continuation was deemed too dangerous. SCP-XXXX is never to be in a room more less than 20,000 Lux.
