Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained within a 90 m x 90 m square enclosure with 7 m high, soundproof, steel walls, as well as 24 hour armed patrol. Entry into SCP-XXXX must be done between the days of March 20th to June 20th, with visits being limited to research and maintenance. Entering SCP-XXXX outside this time frame strictly forbidden due to the nature of SCP-XXXX-2. During this period, soil samples should be taken in SCP-XXXX to ensure that soil is fertile1 to prevent event SCP-XXXXA from occurring. If fertility requirements are not met, personnel are authorized to use whatever means necessary to keep the region fertile. In the event of SCP-XXXXA, personnel must immediately prepare a 85 m x 85 m fertile area within 1000 km of SCP-XXXX using whatever means necessary.
During visits in SCP-XXXX, personnel are required to wear at least 24 dB Noise Reduction Rating headsets with radio communication capabilities as well as high-grade beekeeping gear. The harvesting of SCP-XXXX-1 is strictly prohibited and will be considered as smuggling contraband, with found instances being confiscated and incinerated immediately. Known persons who have consumed SCP-XXXX-1 must be quarantined inside SCP-XXXX immediately while facility plumbing must be monitored immediately to prevent spread of SCP-XXXX. Germinating and juvenile instances of SCP-XXXX must be immediately incinerated.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a roughly 85 m x 85 m high-density forest currently located within ██████, Puerto Ayora. The trees within this forest range from 5-7 meters in height and resemble fig trees, though research shows that the entity and fig trees share very little DNA. The forest as a whole shares a highly-complex hive mind with the oldest tree at the center of the forest. Though the age of this tree is unknown, records from ancient civilizations suggest that the tree could be 700,000 years old. The trees within the forest have the ability to communicate with organisms within using stored vibrations within their bark as well as respond to inquiries if so desired. SCP-XXXX primarily uses this ability to goad creatures into harvesting SCP-XXXX-1 though rarely, SCP-XXXX will converse with creatures it deems sentient. Through interview with SCP-XXXX, the Foundation has discovered its goal is to "show the world dormant power of arboreal lifeforms" by spreading itself globally. Although SCP-XXXX has claimed it would do this using event SCP-XXXX-A, Puerto Ayora does not have enough resources to facilitate SCP-XXXX traveling through seawater, thus forcing the entity to execute its plans using SCP-XXXX-1.
SCP-XXXX-1: SCP-XXXX-1 is the fruit produced by SCP-XXXX during spring. It most closely resembles a fig with a neon-pink coloration, edible seeds, and a ripening period of 12 hours. Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 only start to rot after the spring window with research has showing that if properly preserved via freezing, SCP-XXXX-1 can last up to 3 years. The nutritional values for SCP-XXXX-1 show that it completes every requirement for human nutrition, simultaneously filling all food group requirements, and thus being classified as a "superfood". Consumption of 1 instance SCP-XXXX-1 can sustain a human adult for one day without any noticeable weight loss or weight gain.
Due to SCP-XXXX-1's sweet flavor however, it is highly addictive, leading to subjects only partaking in a sole SCP-XXXX-1 diet after 2 instances. After a single instance of SCP-XXXX-1, subjects who partake in SCP-XXXX-1 report "a loss of flavor" in other foods, including their favorite foods, as well as increased cravings for SCP-XXXX-1 alone. Failure of personnel to satisfy these cravings will often lead to a self-induced fast by subjects, as well as attempted break-ins into SCP-XXXX in order to harvest SCP-XXXX-1.
Most important to its role, SCP-XXXX-1 is an extremely effective laxative, often leading to complete bowel clearing within 1 hour of consumption. Within a subject's fecal matter however are seeds of SCP-XXXX which use the fecal matter as a fertilizer. The seeds germinate within 5 seconds of exiting the digestive tract into a water source and 1 minute to reach sapling hood. Within 30 minutes, an adult instance of SCP-XXXX sprouts.
Furthermore, SCP-XXXX-1 contains 50-90 fertilized eggs of SCP-XXXX-2. Once ingested, juvenile instances of SCP-XXXX-2 hatch within 12 hours and mature within 6 hours, often leading to fatal hemorrhages as well as emergence of adult instances of SCP-XXXX-2 through the skin.
SCP-XXXX-2: SCP-XXXX-2 is a species of wasp-like insects that are distantly related to the fig-wasp. Instances of SCP-XXXX-2 are 1.5 mm in length, solid black, and possess cylindrical abdomens. Instances of SCP-XXXX-2 carry a potent venom, which in high doses, can kill a grown human adult.
While SCP-XXXX-2 maintains a mutualistic relationship with SCP-XXXX, outside of SCP-XXXX, SCP-XXXX-2 maintains a parasitic relationship with other organisms. Outside of the spring window, SCP-XXXX-2 is extremely aggressive killing any foreign organisms that enter SCP-XXXX. Researchers speculate the reason for this behavior is to gain nutrients and energy as well as boost the quality of the soil. What SCP-XXXX-2 consumes outside of the spring window when no foreign organisms are found is currently unknown, although it is hypothesized that SCP-XXXX produces a form of nutrient rich nectar specifically for SCP-XXXX-2 outside of the spring window.
During the spring window, SCP-XXXX-2 is relatively docile, stinging only for self defense. Throughout this period, SCP-XXXX-2 polinates
