(FIRST DRAFT)

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Site and Personnel Requirements: By order of O5-██: Under no circumstances are any personnel allowed to make direct, unprotected eye contact with SCP-XXXX. Any personnel who ignore this order will be terminated after debriefing and clearing of Class-E status.

Special Containment Procedures:

• SCP-XXXX is kept at Site-██ in a windowless 3.5 m x 3.5 m enclosed containment cell equipped with cameras capable of thermal imaging to track the movements of SCP-XXXX.
• Although SCP-XXXX currently shows no interest in leaving its containment cell, if SCP-XXXX escapes it must be returned to its cell via an opaque container.
• A minimum of two security personnel must guard the door to the cell at all hours.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a quadruped with characteristics similar to the white-eared opossum, Didelphis albiventris. It measures 0.7 m from hind to head. SCP-XXXX features long strands of hair that cover its entire body; its hair is uniformly black and coarse.

SCP-XXXX’s most striking characteristic is its pair of eyes that look distinctly human. Eye contact with SCP-XXXX reportedly causes emotional distress, painful migraines, and in a few cases a loss of consciousness.

During the daylight hours, SCP-XXXX is docile and spends most of that time in the far corners of its cell. During the nighttime hours (approximately sunset to sunrise) or when the lighting in the cell falls below 3.4 lux, SCP-XXXX becomes agitated and moves erratically within its cell while making guttural noises.

Recovery Report – SCPXXXX-REC

Location: ██████, New York

Date: 02/28/2016

On the evening of 02/28/2016 Field Agent D██, embedded within local law enforcement, was the first responder to a complaint about a strong odor coming from a residential house located at ████████. Agent discovered the body of an approximately 78-year old woman at the bottom of the house’s basement stairs. When he went to determine whether there were any other persons in the basement, he spotted SPC-XXXX hiding underneath a storage shelf about 1.5 m in front of the deceased, watching him. Agent reportedly felt an immediate, intense uneasiness come over him and contacted his superior, Agent F██████, for support.

Upon arrival, Agent F██████ discovered Agent ████ prostrated in front of SCP-XXXX, who was now crouched directly in front of him. Agent F██████ attempted to get Agent D████’ attention, but SCP-XXXX abruptly reared up on its hind legs and emitted a growl towards Agent F██████. The Agent reported a sudden, irrational feeling of anxiety once he made eye contact with the entity, later stating, “It felt as if that thing was looking within me rather than at me.”

Agent F██████ remembers fleeing the basement, securing the door shut, and contacting the Foundation for assistance before passing out.

Mobile Task Force Eta-10 ("See No Evil") arrived at SPC-XXXX’s location and successfully subdued and captured SCP-XXXX with minimal difficulties. Both Field Agents were recovered and brought to Site-██ for physiological monitoring. MTF Psi-7 was tasked with post-containment assessment of the building.

Report Submitted By: Eta-10 Operative ██████

Addendum, approved for publication by O5-██ on 6/15/2017: The deceased woman has since been identified as the resident’s sole owner and occupant, Mrs. ████████

While the initial suspected cause of death for Mrs. ████████ seemed to be the result of a tragic fall, Foundation coroner Dr. H████ discovered the cause of death to be dehydration rather than a heart attack or blunt force trauma. Dr. H████ found abrasions on the deceased’s hands, knees, and forehead, suggesting the deceased was mobile before death.

It was also noted that the deceased’s eyes were missing.
