Item #: SCP-5449
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: [SCP-5449 is to be kept in standard containment unit and is to be entered once every week by an unarmed member of any personnel for maintenance. Maintenance consists of looking for abnormal behaviour from either SCP-5449’s pocket dimension or SCP-5449-01. If anything is suspected to be different from usual behaviour, personnel is to report to level 4 or higher clearance personnel and remain within SCP-5449 until further notice.]
Description: [SCP-5449 is an hexagonal 30cm wide by 30cm long by 12cm high dark blue stone made of an unknown material. When touched by a living organism, the organism will vanish from its current space and be transported to SCP-5449’s pocket dimension. Touching SCP-5449 within its pocket dimension relocates the organism to a space near SCP-5449 in our dimension.
The dimension consists of a 20 by 20 meters diameter perfectly circular landscape which appears to be surrounded by an empty void. The interior of SCP-5449’s pocket dimension always contains the same features: 10 cm away from the border of the circle is a 1.32 meters high column on top of which rests a perfect copy of SCP-5449, on the opposite side and 1.43 meters away from the border is a 3.4 meters high tree on top of a small hill, near the tree and is a 1 m long by 2 m wide by 2.3 m deep pond and finally, on the opposite side of the pond and 1.2 m away from the border is a 1.3 m long by 0.5 m wide by 0.34 m high bench perpendicular to the center. Composition of the ground, the pillar, the tree, the pond and the bench will change depending on the emotion felt by the organism as it touched SCP-5449. From 0 to 10 seconds after a subject enters SCP-5449, a tall humanoid entity referred to as SCP-5449-01 should appear somewhere within the circle.
SCP-5449-01 is completely white in colour and appears to be made of concrete. Despite its back being curved forward, it is 2.3 meters tall with short legs and a long torso. SCP-5449-01’s arms are 1.4 meters long, ending with enormous hands. Its head is bulky and lacks any facial features aside for a large smiling mouth which appears to be carved into its skull. The entity cannot be seen on video recording devices and doesn’t emit any sound or noises even while moving around. SCP-5449-01 acts friendly towards other entities and will not attack unless provoked. It will follow subjects around the dimension and attempt to calm anyone who feels anxious, depressed or angry by inviting them to sit with it at the bench.
Upon contact with the bench as SCP-5449-01 is also touching it, subjects immediately enter a calm and peaceful state of mind, appearing to suddenly see a silver lining to any of their problems, usually reporting that “their problems aren’t that bad after all”. This effect will only apply to subject’s current problems and will be negated by the addition of a new stressful situation or a modification that counters the silver lining seen of an already existing problem. SCP-5449-01 moves at nearly instantaneous speeds and while it doesn’t seem to run it appears to “walk” at an incredible pace. While SCP-5449-01 showed immeasurable strength and resistance to physical damage during a fight with D-class personnel, researchers have not further tested its resistance to chemicals due to the entity’s behaviour around objects it perceives as dangerous. Any objects left behind while exiting SCP-5449 will result in the object vanishing from the dimension, never to be found again.
Despite SCP-5449-01 not having eyes, present personnel always know exactly where it is looking. The entity seems to sense emotions from other living beings and while in its presence, personnel reported they could do the same for SCP-5449-01 even if its body language is non existent. The entity does not speak nor does it seem to understand any known language. It is theorized that it makes out the intention of a message by the emotion and/or the tone used. SCP-5449-01 shows no will to learn despite it demonstrating symbolism and a natural curiosity towards every object that are presented to it. This suggests that the emotions of SCP-5449-01 are artificial and simulated for therapy purposes.]
Addendum: [This section shows testing results and theories on SCP-5449-01.
This is a list of emotions corresponding to the material composition of the dimension known so far:
Neutral: blue stone of unknown material
Joy: pink coloured limestone
Excitement: green gem like crystal presumed to be peridot
Anger: bright orange gravel-like stone
Sadness: grey sand and limestone
Uncertainty: bright yellow sulfur
Calm: white marble like stone
Fear: unidentifiable solid material covered in thick black oil
According to a member of D-class, they where thinking about their own gruesome death when touching SCP-5449, leading to the dimension being made out of organic matter matching subject’s DNA.
SCP-5449-01’s behaviour is suspected to be algorithm based. It is usually expected to smile and stare at subject or do a situationally fitting action in response to subject. Here is a list of reaction-triggering acts known so far:
Subject doesn’t do anything: Entity will smile and stay still facing towards subject until further action.
Subject moves around: Entity will follow subject around.
Subject sits on bench: Entity will sit down with subject.
Subject sits on bench without entity and designates the available seat next to it: Entity rushes over and sits down with subject.
Subject purposefully damages terrain or objects belonging to SCP-5449: Entity will steal and destroy any object used to damage propriety and display an angry mouth as warning.
Subject attempts to harm SCP-5449-01: Entity will attempt to steal and destroy any object used to damage it and will display an angry mouth as a warning.
Subject attempts to damage terrain or SCP-5449-01 after first warning: Entity will straighten its back in an attempt to look more menacing as a second warning.
Subject offenses SCP-5449-01 after second warning: Entity will immediately terminate offensive subject before returning to its original happy state.
Subject speaks with a sincere or regretful tone resembling somewhat of an apology: Entity returns to its happy state as if nothing happened. Subject report that they “felt” SCP-5449-01 talking to them, saying: “all is forgiven”.
Subject falls or jump into void: Entity immediately catches subject and puts them back on land. Subject report “feeling” SCP-5449-01 telling them: “careful, you nearly fell”.
Subject hands over object to SCP-5449-01: Entity holds the given object until it is picked back up.
Subject shows off an object: Entity will appear deeply interested and contemplates the object.
Subject unintentionally forgets an object that has been shown within the dimension and comes back to pick it up: Entity will bring the object to subject and hand it over. Subject report “feeling” SCP-5449-01 telling them: “you forgot something”.
Subject is immersed in pond: Entity will stare at subject from near the pond.
Subject screams or hints distress while being in the pond: Entity pulls subject out of the pond and puts them back down on land. Subject report “feeling” SCP-5449-01 telling them: “careful”.
SCP-5449-01 recognizes some objects as dangerous and will attempt to steal and destroy the targeted object by crushing it in its hands. SCP-5449-01 will display an angry mouth as it does so, before returning to a happy state once the object is destroyed. These dangerous objects include so far anything that ressembles in shape or size a handgun or anything that has a sharp steel edge. These objects are suspected to be seen as dangerous after a member of D-class attempted to shoot SCP-5449-01 with a revolver and after a researcher attempted to collect a sample of stone from the bench with a pocket knife, which may have been interpreted as an act of vandalism.]
