The special room where SCP-XXXX is located in Site-17. No photos of the actual artifact is allowed.
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is locked in a small, dark room located in Site-17. Only authorised personnel are allowed to enter the room with special sonar-googles, with no less than 3 professional companions. At least one person must enter the room blindfolded. After the entry of the team, the room must be locked down until the end of operation. During the examination of SCP-XXXX, a medical team will wait outside.
No photos or videos of SCP-XXXX are allowed under any circumstances.
In an unlikely event that requires the relocation of SCP-XXXX, a special remote-controlled transportation kit will be provided. Physical interaction with SCP-XXXX is strictly forbidden.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a silver mirror broken in half. It's exactly 75 centimeters tall, 50 centimeters wide and 35 milimeters thick. It is presumably constructed in 20th century. At all times, the two parts of the broken mirror are kept together.
The anomalous effects begin when SCP-XXXX enters a person's line of sight. Once that happens; the victim is immediately forced to look directly at the center of the mirror. After that moment, he victim will be unable to look away from SCP-XXXX and is forced to slowly move towards the mirror until the victim's view is blocked, or the victim reaches the mirror.
Once SCP-XXXX is out of sight, the 'addiction effect' will trigger. If the mirror gets out of a victim's sight, the victim will gain control over his/her body movements. The victim will now try to actively search for SCP-XXXX and look at it again. If the victim can not locate SCP-5XXX for a longer than a few hours, various mental issues will be observed.
Directly viewing photos or videos of SCP-XXXX will have the same effects described above. If SCP-XXXX is viewed through an electronic device, the victim will move towards the location of the mirror. If recovered by external intervention, the victim will actively search for the media file in order to keep looking at it. Deleting the media file will not terminate the effect and the victim will search for the photo indefinitely.
The only exceptions that do not trigger the anomalies are ways of indirectly observing SCP-XXXX through non-optical means such as sonars or particle-mass-tracing 3D maps. Night vision googles, thermal cameras and laser-reflection-visualisers do not prevent triggering the effects.
Physical contact with SCP-XXXX by a living person will cause the person to be invisible to all other living organisms. Not much is known about the fate of the people who had physical contact with SCP-XXXX.1
If victims are recovered before they can reach out to SCP-XXXX, they will require immediate medical attention. Although the victims can sustain their lives under supervision, there is no known way to fully recover from the effects.
Small Scale Incident Report
15/06/1997
During a previously-decided examination of SCP-XXXX, a two-person team was allowed into the room. The leading team member █████████ accidentally took off his sonar-googles and were forced to look at SCP-XXXX during the act. The blindfolded team member, ████████████ was warned about the situation through the radio. The examination was aborted, and the emergency procedure was initiated. ████████████ quickly took his blindfold off while looking away from the SCP-XXXX's direction. He blocked █████████'s view by using the metal shield included in the kit. The attempt was successful, and █████████ was able to move again. But instead of moving away from SCP-XXXX as planned, █████████ pushed ████████████ out of his way and kept looking at the mirror. ████████████ was then advised to leave the leading team member inside and make his way out of the room.
A special team of three medics arrived into the room before █████████ could touch SCP-XXXX. They were able to get █████████ out of the room. After the incident, █████████ was forced to retire from duty and was placed under a special psychologic supervision routine.
After the incident, the old containment procedures were changed with more restrictive ones. A Small Scale Incident Report was prepared, and the case was closed.
