Description: All instances of SCP-2791 have the same general appearance, a set of stairs built in an "L" shape, and the height and amount of steps may vary between instances. All instances of SCP-2791 as of now have been found in relatively remote locations, and always in a wooded area. The objects' anomalous effects are only observed when a human subject attempts to climb the stairs. Overall anomalous effects of the objects vary from instance to instance(see text below).

SCP-2791 Incident 1:

Human subject (D-Class) is told to enter the instance's vicinity. Subject complies. No visible effects are seen on subject's way to the instance. Subject is told to stop in front of the instance. 30 seconds go by without incident. Subject told to climb the stairs. Upon touching the second step, subject reports hearing all noises that would normally be heard in a forest cease. On the fifth step, subject reports that all wind has abruptly stopped. Subject reaches half landing, and comments on the lack of movement. Upon reaching the landing, subject is told to standby. After 1 minute and 30 seconds, subject begins displaying considerable distress. An audible metallic screeching sound can be heard through audio transmission device. Subject reports the ground shaking and the sound getting deeper and louder. Audio cuts out. A large amount of blood was found on the staircase. Genetic testing confirms this to be the blood of the subject.

SCP-2791 Incident 2:

Subject approaches instance. No effects reported. Subject told to climb the stairs. No notable effects observed.Subject reports a tingling feeling throughout their body on the half landing. Upon reaching the landing, subject vanishes from vision on pre-installed surveillance cameras. Despite this, subject reports no change in environment. Another human subject is sent to the object for investigation. Second subject vanishes, but reports seeing first subject. After approximately 2 hours, subjects discover another instance of SCP-2791 after walking about 8 kilometers West. Instance confirmed to have some sort of "teleportation" property, in which when one reaches the top of the stairs, they are placed on an identical instance of SCP-2791. Each time a human triggers this event, a new instance is created, seemingly at random within 100 kilometer distance of the instance. The new instance that is created is linked to the initial object in which the person was displaced from, allowing a person to be moved to the linked instance, regardless of which staircase is being interacted upon. No adverse side effects are observed. Further testing of the object approved, for possible future tactical application.

SCP-2791 Incident 3:

Subject enters object's vicinity without any reported effects. While approaching the object, subject reports seeing skeletal human remains around the stairs. Upon further examination, subject discovers the remains to be slightly charred, with a small amount of ash scattered around the area. Subject steps onto the stairs. After approximately 3 seconds after contact, subject [REDACTED]. Three more subjects were sent to the instance, and had the same results. No further testing permitted.

SCP-2791 Incident 4:

SCP-2791 Incident 5:

Subject views the object, and immediately begins walking to it. Subject is repeatedly told to stop. Subject replies by expressing his desire to climb the stairs. Once subject reaches the landing of the stairs, the object is seen extending upward. Subject begins walking up the stairs. After ██ hours, subject is seen walking back down. Once subject is no longer touching the object, the stairs retract. Subject displays no signs of exhaustion. Due to this instance of SCP-2791 being cognitohazardous, it is to be surrounded by a solid, opaque material in order to avoid future incident.
