SCP-XXXX-1 in a dormant form
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: Item SCP-XXXX is to be kept within a dark, cool 5 m x 5 m x 5m chamber that is with only one source of light, preferably handheld lighting. In the case of a need for personnel to enter the chamber, only one person may enter at a time, and all sources of light near the entrance to the chamber must be off. Personnel may bring one flashlight, lantern, or other handheld device for lighting with them into the chamber.
Description:SCP-XXXX is a tall, white, spider-like creature, with the greatest recorded height of a specimen being approximately 2.7 meters. The creature has 16 spindly legs, with an average length of 2 meters, and it has the ability to fully retract any or all of the legs into its body at any given time. The center part of the creatures body is a plastic-like sphere with a diameter of 4 centimeters and no features. Every day, edible organic matter, preferably meat, must be put inside of the chamber on a platter, and once the meat is gone, the platter may be removed.
SCP-XXXX is stable when in the presence of a light source if no other organic substances come near it. When an organic substance comes near the creature, it will attempt to burrow inside of the closest light source, and will contract all of its legs once it is snugly fit inside. Also, if it's body is too large to fit inside of the light source, it will shrink itself until it can fit If SCP-XXXX is not in the presence of a light source, it will become hostile and attempt to find a new light source. SCP-XXXX also may become hungry, and will burrow inside of light sources, waiting for prey to pass by. Once any organic matter, preferably meat, comes near the light source in which it resides, it will leave the light source and attempt to consume the matter. The manner in which the matter is consumed is unknown, as the creature will attack any other organic matter which nears while it is feeding, and there are no marks left on the partially-consumed matter.
