Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX-1 is to be constantly monitored by four manned watchtowers located 3 kilometers away from SCP-XXXX-1 in each direction, collectively known as Outpost-XXXX, which is to be guarded by NTF Upsilon-12 ("Leave Her, Johnny"). Any civilian crafts attempting to approach SCP-XXXX-1 are to be denied access at any cost. SCP-XXXX-2 does not require any supervision, but must be cleared of any and all civilian personnel during testing. SCP-XXXX has been removed from any and all public location services, such as Google Maps, by the Foundation.

Description: SCP-XXXX consists of a pair of identical islands located in the Atlantic Ocean, approximately 75 kilometers apart. The islands both have an area of 546 square meters. Both islands contain a small forest, the contents of which are currently unknown. SCP-XXXX-1 refers to the eastern island and SCP XXXX-2 is the western island.

Any subject that steps foot onto SCP-XXXX-1 will begin to experience drowsiness after a few minutes, with the effect gradually intensifying until the subject eventually falls asleep. The subject will then wake up on SCP-XXXX-2 with their brain having been seemingly altered. Effects range from slight adjustments in memory to entire changes in personality and identity. Repeated visits to SCP-XXXX-1 will produce the same results. The amount of time one sleeps while being affected by SCP-XXXX does not seem to affect the intensity or quantity of the replacements made. The only unifying trends in memory alterations among subjects observed so far are the removal of any memories relating to SCP-XXXX, a development of aquaphobia, and a strengthening in the subject's belief in climate change.

It is unknown if memories lost by SCP-XXXX can be truly recovered, but research has produced success in reverting very minor changes.

Discovery: SCP-XXXX was brought to the Foundation's attention in August of 1915 when a ship containing citizens fleeing German Kamerun during World War 1 stumbled upon SCP-XXXX-1, leading to ██ personnel undergoing SCP-XXXX's effects. However, the islands are believed to to have been originally discovered by Portuguese explorers in the early 16th century.
