Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is surrounded by a six foot electrical fence exactly one thousand feet from SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX is to be patrolled by four armed guards at all times, stationed on the exterior of the fence. Any civilians that come into contact with the site must be immediately transported away from the perimeter.

If an instance of SCP-XXXX-1 is to leave SCP-XXXX then they are to be immediately told by one of the stationed guards to "turn back" until it re-enters SCP-XXXX. If multiple instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are present outside of SCP-XXXX then the stationed guards are advised to follow the same protocols. Failure of containment will require MTF reinforcement to neutralise the SCP-XXXX-1 instances.

SCP-XXXX-1-A is currently being held at Site ██ and is only to be researched by level 3 and higher personnel. A detailed analysis on containment of subject is available on site.

SCP-XXXX-2 is to be left untouched at it's location inside SCP-XXXX. If touched or read by someone who does not have O5 clearance then neutralisation of the subject is advised.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an ancient, stone chapel located at [REDACTED], United Kingdom.

SCP-XXXX takes the appearance of a traditional Christian chapel. SCP-XXXX lacks the Catholic cross that the majority of chapels of similar structure have and has no decoration of any kind on it's exterior. SCP-XXXX is made entirely of stone and has no exterior windows. The only currently known entrance are the large oak doors located at the front of SCP-XXXX. The date of the construction of SCP-XXXX is currently unknown, but the personnel assigned to SCP-XXXX have concluded that the chapel is older than the Christian religion itself. This conflicts with the idea that the design of SCP-XXXX was based on a Christian chapel.

The interior of SCP-XXXX is that of a traditional Christian chapel. On the left side of the interior of SCP-XXXX are four pews and on the right side of SCP-XXXX are four pews. The first three pews on each side face the northern side of the interior of SCP-XXXX, away from the door. The fourth pew on each side is turned to face south, towards the door. At the most northern part of the interior of SCP-XXXX is a stone slab with a primitive knife on the surface, which is believed to be an altar. On the far left of the altar is a set of descending, stone stairs which leads to an unexplored section of SCP-XXXX.

Seated on each pew are six instances of SCP-XXXX-1. SCP-XXXX-1 are humanoids resembling a Human with a variety of ethnic groups, which are seated directly ten centimetres apart from each other, with six instances of SCP-XXXX-1 on each pew. Each instance is missing their eyes, which from study indicates to have been clawed out. Although motionless and unresponsive, any physical contact with an instance of SCP-XXXX-1 will send all surrounding instances of SCP-XXXX-1 into a fit of panic, some will descend down the stairs at a running pace and the rest will attempt to kill the person that touched them by clawing at their skin. If any living person attempts to descend down the stairs the same result will happen, with the instances of SCP-XXXX-1 attempting to kill the person that enters the corridor at the bottom of the stairs and the rest pushing past the person to escape down the corridor. SCP-XXXX-1 instances appear to have no interest in other living creatures around them and do not react to noise. There has only been one successful attempts at communication with the SCP-XXXX-1 instances, and can be seen in test log ███. SCP-XXXX-1 instances can be neutralised by the destruction of it's 'head'. Any other damage on it's body regenerates after an uncertain amount of time. Even if neutralised, exactly thirteen hours after dispatching of the subjects the same amount of SCP-XXXX-1 instances neutralised will ascend from the stairs and take their seats back on the pews. The subjects appear to be emerging from the corridor at the bottom of the stairs which is yet to be fully surveyed.

Behind the altar is a wooden book stand made of oak. On the book stand is a book of unknown origin which has been dubbed SCP-XXXX-2. The language inside is unreadable. After physical contact with the book is made and after a person(s) have looked upon the pages they will become unresponsive. After several hours the person(s) will then descend down the stairs on the left and will make it's way down the corridor. Note that this action does not agitate the SCP-XXXX-1 instances like it does when other personnel do the same.
