Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a remote locker accessible to Level 1 Personnel and above. Lighting SCP-XXXX is prohibited unless authorized by either Dr. █████ or an O5-Council member.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a decorated candle stick made of the manganese. It is harmless when not in use, and has little potential for danger. Should any anything happen, regarding SCP-XXXX, that is unfamiliar with its current activity; Dr. █████ is to be notified immediately.
When lit, the wick on SCP-XXXX will eventually undergo physical change and melt entirely. After the wick melts, the subject responsible for lighting SCP-XXXX falls unconscious and, after a very short period of time, regains consciousness. They will then attempt to remove the melted wick from SCP-XXXX, and retrieve a new one to place on SCP-XXXX to relight it. They repeat this until another entity put out the candle. Subjects under the effects of SCP-XXXX do not cease attempts to relight it, and they do not fall unconscious a second time after the candle they relit melts; However, they do if it's an entirely different session. Any wick installed onto SCP-XXXX is classified as SCP-XXXX-W
Subjects under the effects of SCP-XXXX tend to behave in a brash manner, refusing to answer any questions during interrogations. Most subjects attempt to cause disruptions of minor irritation, but nothing alarming, such as physical damage against foundation staff or escape attempts. Subjects under the effects of SCP-XXXX have been classified as, "SCP-XXXX-2."
SCP-XXXX-2 regain consciousness after SCP-XXXX-W is put out. They suffer high levels of stress, insomnia, and paranoia. Their side effects wear off after three to five days. Former SCP-XXXX-2 do not recall any memories of themselves throughout the duration of their state. They do recall, however, memories of past SCP-XXXX-2, presumably from the Fourteenth Century, committing suicide, possibly the reason behind the side effects after SCP-XXXX-W is extinguished.
Recovery: SCP-XXXX was located and recovered from a basement in ███████ ███████, an orphanage inside of ███████, US, ██-██-2003. It was tracked prior to a supervisor making calls to a local therapy department about a minor rebelling against his teachers, and behaving very poorly ing general. Another call was made two days after, the supervisor described the minor having gone into a panicked state. The therapist was replaced by another from foundation staff, Dr. ███████ in suspicion of anomalous behavior. After a swift investigation, Dr. ███████ described that the minor seemed traumatized, and that he couldn't remember anything past lighting a candle. An MTF Alpha-4 squad consisting of two units posing as civilians looking to adopt someone were dispatched when adoption became available. The candle was then relocated to Site-73 to test for anomalous behavior. After tests were conducted and the candle showed signs of anomalous behavior, it was classified as SCP-XXXX. The reason SCP-XXXX ended up in that particular basement is unknown
