Any discovered instance of SCP-6821 on Earth should be immediately reported to Dr. Mattias Hawthorne on Lunar Site 32. Non-terrestrial instances should be reported to Lunar Site 32 as well, at earliest convenience, and should be continuously monitored for any physical changes, including but not limited to:
-Sudden growth of SCP-6821-A colony size
-Formation of SCP-6821-B blastocytes
-Dispersion of SCP-6821 through actuation of SCP-6821-B
-Trajectory of SCP-6821-A that intercepts, or comes within 100 km of, Earth's orbital path

Following proper protocol, any instance of SCP-6821-B should be targeted with appropriate Surface-To-Space or Orbit-To-Space Defensive Bombardment Automata, which should be fired at the earliest possibility and continuously fire until any trace of SCP-6821-B can no longer be detected within 100 km of Earth.

As of [DATE REDACTED], no viable instances of SCP-6821 have been detected on-planet. If discovered, rendezvous with Dr. Hawthorne will be initiated, and once any effective data has been gathered, Orbit-To-Ground Defensive Bombardment Automata should be fired upon the instance, which should continue until no detectable traces of SCP-6821 are found.

If contact with SCP-6821 is achieved by any biological matter, whether living or dead, that biomatter should be captured and contained within the bombardment range of the SCP-6821 instance, and similarly destroyed. Next-of-kin shall be notified within twenty-four (24) hours for any Foundation-affiliated personnel, excluding D-class. Under no circumstances should the effects of SCP-6821 on biomatter be shared with anyone outside of Dr. Hawthorne's research team, and breaches of this policy will be met with Class-A amnestics, and repeat offenders will be terminated immediately, per Procedure 081-Hawthorne.¹

Any and all known samples of SCP-6821 are to be kept within the confines of Containment Cell 6821, located on sub-level 1 of Lunar Area-32, and may only be removed by individuals with proper O5-4000 clearance, for a period totaling no longer than three (3) hours per day.

Samples of SCP-6821 are to be stored in thorium²-lined steel cylinders, exactly 12cm tall with a radius of 5cm, and a wall thickness of 1cm. Removal from these containment cylinders should be done in full Grade-AAA hazmat gear, and should only occur within SCP-6821's designated storage cellblock. Any testing materials used in direct contact with SCP-6821 are to be disposable in construction, and are to be jettisoned towards the nearest star at the earliest convenience, for proper disposal.

At no time is non-authorized biological material to be introduced to any sample of SCP-6821, nor is any test involving the risk of non-authorized biological material coming into contact with a sample allowed to be conducted, unless previously authorized and overseen by O5-██. In the event that biological material is introduced to SCP-6821, the resulting reaction(s) are to be isolated, recorded, and jettisoned towards the nearest star for proper disposal. Description:
SCP-6821 is an anomalous cell-like structure, capable of asexual reproduction, which continually exhibits both class-3 mutagenic and psyonic properties. It manifests mainly as unstructured cell colonies, ranging in size from 1-2 cm, which propagate themselves through division to cover all available space, regardless of material. It is theorized that this propagation will continue indefinitely if the cell colonies are undisturbed, as they do not appear to require any measurable sustenance to reproduce. The colonies are bio-luminescent, light-blue in color, and usually seek to form complex, branching structures by linking "arms" with other colonies, unless otherwise directed.³

If allowed to join with enough colonies, the mass will form a quasi-sentient bioform, designated SCP-6821-A, which resembles a plant roughly 0.5 meters tall, with a stem of translucent blue skin-like material, through which you can see smaller instances of SCP-6821 moving through structures resembling blood vessels. The flower of this plant has between 50-70 petals, expanding from the pistil in a Fibonacci pattern. See Test Log 6821-03 for additional details.

SCP-6821 was first discovered in ore samples near the Yucatan Peninsula, and has since been traced to extra-terrestrial origin, being introduced to the planet by a meteoric impact roughly 65 million years ago.

Dr. Hawthorne is guiding a D-class subject through a proposed psychic-restructuring test of SCP-6821, where they will attempt to convince the cell colonies to assemble in the form of a common house cat. D-10772 has previously displayed aptitude while interacting with psychic anomalies.

Dr. Hawthorne: Have you successfully achieved psychic contact with the entity?

D-10772: ..Yeah. Says it wants me to open the lid.

Dr. Hawthorne:Okay, please do as the anomaly wishes for now.

The test subject is observed to have difficulty opening the storage cylinder, seemingly due to his ignorance towards safety locking screw lids.

D-10772: ████ing thing won't budge!!

Dr. Hawthorne: Try pressing the release button, near the lid's seam.

D-10772 presses the button, followed by a violent outpouring of SCP-6821 cell colonies.

D-10772: AAAAAUUUGHHHHHH!! ████ING THINGS ARE IN MY EYES!!!

Dr. Hawthorne: Do try and contain yourself, D-10772. This is a clinical environment.

D-10772: continues screaming incoherently

Dr. Hawthorne: *sighs* Prepare to cleanse room with thorium particle bath…

Asst. Researcher Lindley: Sir, do you really think we ought to be breezing through D-class this quickly? We've conducted 10 tests so far, and at this rate we'll likely run out of thorium by Friday…

Dr. Hawthorne: When we achieve proper psychic contact, we will stop testing, Lindley.

Test 27

Subject D-18072 has just opened the cylinder containing the SCP-6821 sample. She is currently suspended from the ceiling by her ankles, attached to the lighting fixtures by the colonies of SCP-6821, which have fused with her skin and muscle tissue. Her chest cavity has exploded, and more cell colonies are being expelled from her insides at a fairly constant rate.

Dr. Hawthorne: This is ridiculous. Open the door, Lindley.

Asst. Researcher Lindley: What?! You've seen what happens to people who touch that shit!

Dr. Hawthorne: I supremely do not care, Lindley. Open. The door.

Asst. Researcher Lindley: …Right. *Ya effin' lunatic.*

Dr. Hawthorne: What was that? .. No matter, now: do be sure the cameras are recording, as I'm about to do the only thing that's worth filming today.

Asst. Researcher Lindley: We're rolling. *Jus' like your head's gonna be in a sec.*

Dr. Hawthorne proceeds to enter the testing room, where several SCP-6821 colonies are currently suspended in the air above D-18072. He is gesturing wildly with his hands.

Dr. Hawthorne: ..both able-minded err, entities aren't we? So, would you kindly move over HERE..
*Dr. Hawthorne flails his arms at a corner of the room*
..and please adopt the bio-form of a cat. Felis catus, if you would please. Yes.

SCP-6821 pulses rapidly across its suspended mass, and begins to glow intensely.

[CAMERA FEED CORRUPTED]

Dr. Hawthorne is seen being lifted into the air, completely covered in SCP-6821 colonies, and growing what appear to be tendrils or feelers made out of said colonies. While no audio can be heard, he appears to be in excruciating pain.

Asst. Researcher Lindley: ABORT TEST!! Abort, goddammit!!! *rapidly punches buttons* Oh, where's the damned thorium routine?!

Automated Voice: Thorium gas dispersion imminent. Please do not open test chamber doors during this proceedure.

Asst. Researcher Lindley: …

Automated Voice: Gas dispersion complete.

Asst. Researcher Lindley: Doctor?? You okay in there?

Dr. Hawthorne is heard faintly groaning

Asst. Researcher Lindley: ..Doc?

As the gas haze clears, the form of Dr. Hawthorne is revealed, standing normally on his feet now. He appears unscathed, although every orifice in his body now has a faint blue bio-luminescence shining from within.

Asst. Researcher Lindley: Mattias?

//Dr. Hawthorne proceeds to spasm erratically, and emits a vocalization similar to that of an elephant's trumpet, though pitched down to his usual vocal range. He then rushes the test chamber's viewing window, making contact headfirst. This causes his cranial cavity to explode with roughly the same force as a compressed watermelon, showering the room with viscera, teeth, and additional colonies of SCP-6821.

Asst. Researcher Lindley: Aye, right. I'll get the mop then.

Assistant Researcher Jane Lindley was promoted to Lead Researcher on SCP-6821 three days after the reported death of Dr. Mattias Hawthorne.

Addendum 6821-A
What follows is an itemized list of substances introduced to SCP-6821, in chronological order. All tests were conducted inside a 5m x 5m x 5m thorium-lined cell, containing the specified amount of SCP-6821.

Mass of SCP-6821 used: 5 mg
Substance Introduced: 1 60 oz bag bovine rawhide, suitable for dogs.

Result: SCP-6821 observed interacting with the rawhide, but after determining it to have no active bio-signs, returned to an inert state.

Mass of SCP-6821 used: 5 mg
Substance Introduced: One (1) human femur bone, extracted 2 hours after donor's death.

Result: SCP-6821 quickly sought out the femur, and after attaching itself to the bone and propagating colonies to completely cover the surface, began to emit light pulses ranging from blue to ultraviolet. Within 2 hours, the femur was completely absorbed into the biomass of SCP-6821, and its resulting mass increased by 55% of the original mass of the bone sample.

Mass of SCP-6821 used: One specimen of SCP-6821-A, approx. 1.2 L³
Substance Introduced: 200 mL Miraculous Growth!^TM brand nutrient paste for plants.

Result: Specimen at first reacted like a normal houseplant, and achieved additional height and foliage growth of "double what yer started wiff", as advertised on Miraculous Growth^TM packaging materials. Following a period of 2 weeks, however, speciment was observed to return to its original size (as of the start of testing), and further applications of Miraculous Growth^TM yielded no further significant results.

Notes: Dr. Lindley observed that the specimen now permanently resembles the exact flower pictured on the packaging, however.
