Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be monitored as continuously as possible without revealing the existence of researchers or other staff observing the anomaly. Entrances to the cave containing SCP-XXXX are to be blocked off (currently, the cave is marked as hazardous due to unstable rock formations within) and all land within an 8 km radius is to be uninhabited by humans. Due to the sentient nature of SCP-XXXX and the hostility it presents to intruders, SCP-XXXX has been given the Euclid classification.

Description: The designation SCP-XXXX describes any member of an anomalous population of semi-humanoids residing deep within [[a cave in somewhere, US]]. Few persons have successfully observed the population due to the difficulty of traveling to its location. Those who have seen the creatures describe them invariably as smaller than the average adult human, standing anywhere between 0.3 and 0.9 meters. The creatures also possess large, pointed ears and two small, glowing eyes. Despite the cave housing the population being nearly completely lightless naturally, the organisms can be seen due to their natural bioluminescence. Luminescence among the population varies in color with the most popular colors being purple, blue, and green, although some specimens have been noted to glow red and, most rarely, orange and yellow. Only one specimen in the known population has been shown to possess yellow bioluminescence.

SCP-XXXX is considered sentient, and exhibits traits of early sapience. The creatures have been observed to use tools (most often comprised of surrounding rock) and create habitats in an organized, collaborative fashion. Interestingly, the population has shown evidence of a semi-rigid caste system. It is not known what this system is ranked by as there seems to be no physical or behavioral pattern to which specimens are dominant over others. Furthermore, this caste system has not been seen to change, meaning creatures seemingly cannot be demoted or promoted within the ranking, except by the birth of another member.

The mating habits of SCP-XXXX have at large not yet been observed; the species has no clearly defined mating season, the pairings are seemingly random and impermanent, and the physical mating process has yet to be documented as organisms immediately hide once paired and return only when the offspring has reached maturity, which takes between two to three months, averaging towards three.

SCP-XXXX subsists upon the minerals in the surrounding rock, feeding off of stalactites at the top of the cavern, of which there are an abundance.

Addendum: Observation of SCP-XXXX is possible due to the nature of the cave; the main observational point is a small opening located on the north side of the cavern, following a trek of approximately 10 km and an additional 300 meter climb of a nearly 90º cliff. However, observation of SCP-XXXX is hindered by the hostile nature of the species to outsiders, and care should be taken to remain covert while researching the population.
