Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: Each instance of SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a separate containment unit consisting of a 1 X 5 X 2 meter containment chamber lined with 0.5cm copper plating. Within each chamber is a 0.5 X 2 X 0.5 meter tank constructed from tempered glass and filled with a formaldehyde solution of no less than 10% formalin. Instances of SCP-XXXX are to be kept fully submerged within their tanks at all times outside of testing. The solution is to be replaced by D-class personnel twice monthly. No devices capable of emitting an electromagnetic field of ██ a/m or higher are to be brought within the containment units. Direct contact with SCP-XXXX instances for testing is restricted to personnel with security clearance 3/XXXX or higher.
Description: SCP-XXXX refers to several instances of animate Human Central Nervous Systems. These consist of a brain and spinal cord, all other tissues and organ systems are absent. Each instance of SCP-XXXX measures between 1 and 1.5 meters in length. SCP-XXXX is capable of a form of levitation, this is used for slow movement when in a relaxed state however in a state of aggression; instances have been noted to reach speeds exceeding ███ Km/h.
SCP-XXXX's spatial awareness is unimpeded despite a lack of sensory organs, so far SCP-XXXX has been observed to react to touch, sound, light, and electromagnetic fields. Instances of SCP-XXXX are highly aggressive when confronted with force and have been witnessed using their spinal cord as a weapon similar to a whip. This is capable of inflicting deep lacerations resulting in severe bleeding. When exposed to an electromagnetic field of ██ a/m or higher SCP-XXXX will enter a state of considerable distress and react with heightened aggression toward whatever device is producing said field, attempting to destroy it or otherwise render it inoperable.
When immersed in a solution of at least 10% formalin SCP-XXXX will enter an inert state, reacting to no external stimuli. Being in the presence of an SCP-XXXX instance (in an inert or active state) for an extended period of time will induce severe side effects including; cluster migraines, bleeding from the eyes and nose, permanent nerve damage, intracranial hemorrhaging, and insanity.
Instances of SCP-XXXX can be temporarily disabled via an application of an electric shock of ██████ volts. When applied SCP-XXXX will retract its spinal cord up into its brain and become functionally inert for a period of 8-12 hours. Upon resumption of standard activity, SCP-XXXX will react to stimuli with increased aggression. Personnel are advised to discontinue testing and interaction for a period of 24 hours.
Addendum: SCP-XXXX was discovered after reports of a human brain found within the forests surrounding the town of ██████, Gloucestershire, England after a severe storm struck the previous night. The brain was delivered to the nearby hospital for possible identification and autopsy. The foundation was alerted approximately 6 hours post-recovery after local media reports detailing that several staff members of the hospital had been killed or severely injured by a "floating brain". A foundation containment team was dispatched and arrived shortly after and successfully secured the instance of SCP-XXXX by utilizing tasers to disable the instance and recover it in its inactive state. Residents of the town were administered Class B amnestics and cover story 6245-C "Mentally ill patient" was disseminated to the media.
Several other instances of SCP-XXXX were discovered within the cellar of an abandoned cabin after investigation of the area surrounding the initial discovery site of SCP-XXXX. The cellar of the cabin had been converted into a makeshift laboratory containing 5 glass tanks filled with formaldehyde with exception to one that had been broken from the inside, post-recovery it was found that the formaldehyde had considerably deteriorated due to age, thus allowing one of the instances of SCP-XXXX to enter an active state and breach its tank. Several decomposing corpses were also discovered that had their skulls pried open and central nervous systems, including spinal columns, removed in one piece. Several research papers were also found detailing the extraction and reanimation process of each SCP-XXXX instance. Each paper was signed "Scorpion" at the bottom with no other identifying marks found. An investigation into who or what "Scorpion" is is ongoing.
