SCP-4862

Item #: SCP-4862

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: All airtight vault doors surrounding SCP-4862's containment must be sealed as soon as possible. Any personal infected with SCP-4862 must be disposed of as soon as possible, with no contact with any multicellular lifeforms. SCP-4862 requires heavy plasma beams to be neutralized, and then must be contained immediately.

To dispose of infected personal, they must exposed to extreme heat and pressure, to force SCP-4862 out of their body. The dead body must then be burned into ash, to assure that there is no more SCP-4862 in them. If someone is infected with SCP-4862, they should be dropped down the large trapdoor in the floor of SCP-4862's containment. The trap door opens up into a chute filled with molten lava. This will quickly expose both SCP-4862 and the victim sufficient heat and pressure that both are fully destroyed.

However, SCP-4862 has only breached containment twice, because of holes in its containment, in the forty years that it has been studied by the Foundation.

Description: SCP-4862 is a parasitic life form, and has a very gelatin-like body. Because of this, its exact dimensions are unknown, but are estimated be around 2 liters. SCP-4862 most closely resembles a blobfish, but that seems to be the only similarity. SCP-4862 is multiple shades of brown and dark green, similar to the color of human feces.

SCP-4862 is a parasite, and enters its victims through any significant body cavity. This is usually the mouth, nose, and ears, as they are the closest the vital organs. Once inside the victim's body, it dwells within the intestines. The victim may experience vomiting, nausea, foaming at the mouth, and intense stomach pains from SCP-4862's presence. Everytime the victim eats, SCP-4862 will siphon as much nutrients as it can from the food, effectively starving the host. If SCP-4862 senses that its host is starting to become a threat to SCP-4862, it can kill the host in a number of ways, with its favorite seeming to be cardiac arrest. SCP-4862's only motivation in doing this simply seems to gain nutrients. SCP-4862 has been seen to infect any organism, from as small to a medium size dog, to as large as a large horse, but it has been theorized that SCP-4862 can infect organisms much larger than horses. It also tends to prefer larger organisms, because they provide SCP-4862 with more nutrients.

SCP-4862's containment is a rather simple one. It is encased in a glass sphere that is has a diameter of 6 feet. A heavy plasma laser is kept at the top, and is only to be used when SCP-4862 becomes excessively hostile and must be neutralized. Outside of the sphere are four acid-proof and air tight vault doors, that must be closed immediately in the event of a containment breach. The floor is a large trap door, that should only be opened if SCP-4862 breaches containment. Due to its sometimes unpredictable nature, access to SCP-4862 and all current research and containment efforts have been limited to personal with at least Level-3 clearance credentials.
