A still frame taken from a video of SCP-XXXX-1, showing the colored speckles that appear previous to SCP-XXXX-2’s manifestation.
The final frame of a recording of SCP-XXXX-2.
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a standard item containment locker at Site-145. Unless testing is ongoing, no cameras or video recorders of any type should be brought near SCP-XXXX. Any researcher with Level 2 clearance or above may experiment with SCP-XXXX without official assignment, as long as standard procedure is upheld. As of Incident 7238A, all testing must be approved and overseen by a researcher with Level 4 clearance or higher. Cross-testing with other SCPs, especially SCP-2181, is strictly prohibited without clearance from an O5.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a small, clear glass sculpture shaped like an egg. It weighs 137.3 grams, and measures 6.73 centimeters tall and has a 2.43 cm radius at its base.
The sculpture itself, henceforth referred to as SCP-XXXX-1, displays only one anomalous property: temperature changes in the surrounding environment do not affect SCP-XXXX, even when temperatures reach localized extremes.
The major anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX manifest when SCP-XXXX-1 is photographed by any type of photographic equipment. When SCP-XXXX-1 is photographed by a camera using film, the internal film will immediately combust, burning at an approximate temperature of 513 degrees Celsius.
The properties of the anomalous effect vary based on how the camera records information. When SCP-XXXX-1 is photographed using a fully-digital camera, combustion does not occur; instead, all circuitry in the camera will overload simultaneously, and much of the wiring will begin to melt, often reaching temperatures of 950 degrees Celsius.
When SCP-XXXX-1 is videotaped with any equipment that can record faster than ██ Frames per Second, a manifestation of SCP-XXXX-2 will invariably occur within the video taken of SCP-XXXX-1. SCP-XXXX-2 is a black-and-clear beetle made entirely of glass speckled with dark blue patterns on its carapace. In the video, SCP-XXXX-1 changes from clear to speckled with light blue and clumps of either chemically pure Silver or [DATA REDACTED]. Once the whole of SCP-XXXX-1 has been suffused with these materials, SCP-XXXX-2 will “hatch,” wherein it tears apart the top of SCP-XXXX-1. It then crawls 3 meters Northwest of SCP-XXXX-1, regardless of objects and/or walls in its way. Once it has reached its destination, it freezes, and the recording ends, no matter how long the recording was previous to SCP-XXXX-2 manifesting in it. No physical, temperature, or chemical changes can be observed to SCP-XXXX-1 during viewing of SCP-XXXX-2 on a recording.
The images of SCP-XXXX kept in the Foundation's database were captured by editing out single frames of video recordings in which SCP-XXXX-2 manifests. These frames show no anomalous properties, aside from the visible presence of SCP-XXXX-2 and the discoloration of SCP-XXXX-1.
Dr. ██████’s note: SCP-XXXX’s ability to overload circuitry and combust film is something we should research more. We could possibly use it as an anti-surveillance device.
O5-█’s note: Extra resources will not be allocated to the study of SCP-XXXX; however, its status will be changed allowing any researcher with Level 2 or above clearance can run tests on it.
