Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX's containment and designation are both heavily debated within the foundation, as many researchers believe it to be perfectly safe. Others disagree, believing it to be indicative of a Keter threat. For the time being, SCP-XXXX is contained within Site ███ among other anomalous devices. It is to be kept charged and monitored through 24/7 video surveillance. Should the device display any anomalous behavior, it is to be reported immediately. Should any individual, personnel or otherwise, attempt to use the device, they are to be detained and questioned.

Description: SCP-XXXX is physically identical to a 2008 3rd generation Zune music player, manufactured by the Microsoft company. After extensive testing, it appears that SCP-XXXX exhibits no anomalous qualities, although the Play/Pause button is a bit sticky.
A large number of audio files are present within SCP-XXXX, all of which appear to be illegally downloaded. Among the files are songs by a wide variety of popular artists, including the likes of Jim Croce, the Jonas Brothers, and OutKast. There are also a number of tracks and artists on the device that according to all foundation records do not exist in our reality as of the year 2019.
The reason the object is under containment, as well as the reason for its Euclid designation, pertain to the circumstances of its discovery. SCP-XXXX was found by an anthropology student from the University of ██████████, dozens of feet underground at an archaeological dig site just outside of ██████,█████████. One of the on-site professors confiscated the device, believing it to be part of a practical joke. However, its story spread to the Foundation and it was quickly contained. The aforementioned testing included biostratigraphic dating of the device's sample, which concluded that it had been buried underground since approximately 3200 B.C.E. How it got there, why it still works, and the deeper implications of its existence all remain unknown.
