Yggdrasil Burnes: Glowing Dream Catcher (Working Title.)

Author: Yggdrasil Burnes
WIP.

Bullet Points:
Description:
>Black-dyed leather dream catcher, 25 minus 3 black-dyed pigeon feather, 18 minus 1 generic black plastic beads securing the feathers, 5 tiny obsidian beads in a star pattern within the web, slight wear and tear.
>acrylic soft-green glow-in-the-dark star placed behind web, secured with 2 cm wide black electrical tape, completely blocking other end of web.
>1.35 inch diameter ring, feathers 2-2.5 inches long, with plumage.
(How much is too much here? The Image will be clear enough.)

Abnormality:
Classification: Safe

Containment: All collected instances of dream catchers are to be contained in a 6 meters^2 containment room, under constant exposure of light. (How secure should this be? It's safe, but it's not harmless.)

Effects: In short, severe hallucinations on lack of light exposure to the object.

Anyone who is near the dream catcher while the star has a glow is completely unaffected, rendering the object harmless in constant light. When someone of any age or background is near the dream catcher when the star has no charge, they will begin hallucinating about pupils of light staring intently at them in shadows from that point forth. (should I make the effects a gradual buildup instead? There are already plenty of hallucinatory SCP's.)

Furthermore, all shadows appear as pitch black emptiness, regardless of actual light level, distorting the perception of the afflicted even further. (Imagine looking at the slight darkened spots on your skin in the sun and it just be devoid of light. Like an image with shadows artificially bucket-painted one color.)

Once this happens, there is no way to stop the effects from progressing further without constructing additional instances of the dream catcher. (More on this later.)

Artificial dream catchers built with feathers from the original are capable of permanently negating the effects of the original dream catcher, but can also trigger the hallucinations again themselves.

The afflicted will continue to experience increasing instances of these hallucinations until psychological integrity is compromised.

Those at this point will begin obsessing over the night sky, describing it as an infinite number of eyes staring at them.

At this point, the original, and any recreated dream catchers will lose their effect completely.

Within a certain amount of time, the afflicted will enter a catatonic state, staring blankly at the sky, regardless of time of day or location, physical examination will show that the pupils of the afflicted no longer reflect light, but instead produce a small lipid of white light in the dead center of the pupil, with the eye no longer reacting to light, nor being able to be examined by flashlight, and autopsy will show that the internal structures of the eyeball are completely blackened with an oily substance. (Maybe?)

(This is supposed to imply that the hallucinations physically affect the viewer, and are actual in some regards. The idea is that they feast on light, but can only handle so much light at any specific time. The glowing stars themselves produce a soft enough glow that attracts them, but fades away over time, leaving the creature(s) in a dark location with minuscule, but manageable amounts of light to consume. The definition between how real they are and how psychosomatic they are is the mystery.)

Recovery:Apartment of a hoarder, reported after noise complaints and screaming affecting 3 adjacent floors of the building, and all affected tenants displaying the aforementioned behavior, with the original owner having died of health complications 2 days before. Upon investigating the tenants' rooms, the landlord began hallucinating as well, and reported the sightings and corpse to the police. Upon collection of the tenant's, the responding officers began hallucinating as well, and wired the unusual information to the foundation personnel, who investigated the building for anything noteworthy. Foundation personnel immediately experienced the described effects upon entering the original tenant's room. During investigation the dream catcher was exposed to light, instantly reversing the hallucinations, and concluded recovery with the item under constant illumination.
