Item #: SCP-4XXX
Object Class: Euclid Keter (See Incident-4XXX-C and Addendum-4XXX-A)
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4XXX is contained in a containment unit built around it in ███████ Forest, ██████, Turkey. Three kilometers radius around SCP-4XXX is closed to the public under the guise of a military zone. SCP-4XXX is surrounded by four flamethrower turrets that use dicyanoacetylene as fuel.
SCP-4XXX is to be kept under constant surveillance through security footage.
A D-Class personnel is to be delivered to SCP-4XXX once every two weeks for SCP-4XXX's feeding. Aforementioned personnel must be heavily sedated during the procedure to prevent a violent containment breach. Remains of the D-Class is to be removed by site personnel.
Failing to provide a D-Class personnel within the given time period is likely to cause in SCP-4XXX relocating to a random location. (See Incident-4XXX-B) Within five days after its feeding, SCP-4XXX can be safely studied.
Showing any signs of fear or anxiety near SCP-4XXX results in subject's termination by SCP-4XXX. After the event SCP-4XXX goes into a frenzied state. While in this state SCP-4XXX is capable of teleportation. SCP-4XXX will attempt to kill every human in a 2.5-kilometer radius, originating from the starting point of its frenzied state. There seems to be no way to hide from SCP-4XXX during its frenzy. It will return to its docile state once there are humans remaining in the aforementioned radius. SCP-4XXX disregards subjects that enter the area after the start of its frenzy. (See Incident-4XXX-A)
Another way to stop its frenzy has found to be exposing SCP-4XXX to temperatures above 5000 K. Any probability of frenzy must be met with immediate activation of aforementioned flamethrower turrets and subsequent incineration of SCP-4XXX. Any personnel near SCP-4XXX at the time of observed probability of frenzy is to be considered unrecoverable and disregarded.
Any instance of SCP-4XXX-1 must be terminated on sight. See Incident-4XXX-C and Addendum-4XXX-A for further information about SCP-4XXX-1 instances.
ATTENTION! Under no circumstances should any mention of or anything related to SCP-1933 be made while working on SCP-4XXX. (See Incident-4XXX-C)
SCP-4XXX will reform after being incinerated, in a docile state, within two days of time at the location of its incineration.
Description: SCP-4XXX is a dried up pine tree approximately 5 meters in height. Thirty-two human heads hang from SCP-4XXX's branches at any time, tied by their hairs. These heads belong to the previous victims of SCP-4XXX. These heads are not decomposed or deformed in any way except for their monochrome white eyes.
During its feeding SCP-4XXX will pull off the victims head and absorb it into its roots. Though SCP-4XXX is known to kill animals, it is not observed to have any animal heads hanging from its branches and it does not feed on them.
Separating these heads from SCP-4XXX causes the head to crumble to dust and re-grow from the tree. The composition of heads seem to change on a currently unknown interval. No personnel has been able to observe the exact moment of change in the heads' composition, even by going through watching recordings of SCP-4XXX. For this reason, SCP-4XXX is thought to have mind-altering or ███████ ████████ capabilities.
The number of different heads on SCP-4XXX's branches so far observed to be 328. The number is to be updated after every feeding.
SCP-4XXX is capable of speech, using the many heads it carries. So far it is observed to speak English, French, Italian, Turkish, German, Russian, Greek and Bulgarian. However, it does not respond to any attempt of interrogation, usually just mumbling to itself. SCP-4XXX is known to sometimes ask questions to nearby site personnel, though it shows no interest in any answer given. For this reason, SCP-4XXX is considered unintelligent. (See Incident-4XXX-C)
SCP-4XXX uses its roots to move and attack. Nature of its teleportation ability is not understood.
Discovery: SCP-4XXX was discovered by a forest ranger named █████ in ███████ Forest, Turkey. Said ranger reported the sighting of SCP-4XXX to Gendarmerie, upon which dispatched an investigation unit. After witnessing the anomalous qualities of SCP-4XXX mentioned in Description, Paragraph 2, military command and National Intelligence Organization was informed and SCP Foundation was alerted.
Though no casualties were reported to the Foundation by Turkish authorities, given the nature of SCP-4XXX, it is hard to believe that nobody was killed during these events.
Forest ranger that discovered the SCP is now a Foundation employee due to the usefulness of him lacking a fight or flight response to threats. See personnel file █████ for further information.
Other low ranking individuals involving in the discovery of SCP-4XXX has been administered Class B amnestics.
Experiment-4XXX-A: D-15423 was given an axe to try and get a sample of SCP-4XXX, preferably a branch. Striking the tree cause it no damage. However, upon impact, all the heads on SCP-4XXX's branches turned to D-15423. Personnel's startled response to this occurrence triggered Incident-4XXX-A.
Experiment-4XXX-B: After Incident-4XXX-A, the need for a reliable suppression method became apparent. Site personnel attempted to damage SCP-4XXX with various weapons and tools. The fire appeared to be effective, also revealing SCP-4XXX's regenerative abilities. Flames of a temperature lower than 5000 K proved unable to overcome SCP-4XXX's regenerative capabilities. After the experiment SCP-4XXX's containment unit was equipped with dicyanoacetylene flamethrower turrets.
Curiously, SCP-4XXX did not respond to being harmed at any point. SCP-4XXX was also equipped with a GPS tracker for easier location of it in the likely event of its teleportation.
Experiment-4XXX-C: Dr. █████ requested permission to attempt to converse with SCP-4XXX which was granted. Details of this conversation are unimportant due to no intelligible answers being given by SCP-4XXX. After ten minutes and thirty-nine seconds of one-sided conversation, SCP-4XXX moved its roots. This previously never observed movement, outside of İncident-4XXX-A, cause Dr. █████ to take a step back, thus triggering Incident-4XXX-C.
Incident-4XXX-A: Upon D-15423's startled response, SCP-4XXX's roots sprouted from the soil beneath and wrapped around the personnel's body. A second vine of roots wrapped around D-15423's neck and pulled its head apart from its body. SCP-4XXX then teleported outside of its containment unit and started attacking nearby site personnel at which point containment breach was reported and Tactical Response Team Omega-15 was dispatched. Upon arriving at the site, TRT Omega-15 engaged SCP-4XXX. SCP-4XXX sustained no damage from attacks and ignored the members of TRT Omega-15 while continuing to kill other site personnel. After 128 minutes, SCP-4XXX returned to its original location on its own.
During this period of time SCP-4XXX terminated all human life within a 2.5-kilometer radius of its containment unit, except for the members of TRT Omega-15, who was ineffective in its suppression. Experiment-4XXX-B has been authorized to find a suitable method of suppression.
Incident-4XXX-B: Five days after Experiment-4XXX-B, SCP-4XXX relocated ninety-three (93) kilometers north-northwest of its containment unit. TRT Omega-15 was dispatched to recover SCP-4XXX. Upon arrival, members of the response team reported headless human bodies near SCP-4XXX. Incident was reported to the public as a bear attack. Following the event, study to understand SCP-4XXX's feeding habits has been given the highest priority.
Incident-4XXX-C: Upon request, permission to interview SCP-4XXX was given to Dr. █████. During the interview, SCP-4XXX showed signs of frenzy after being asked about its connection to SCP-1933. Dicyanoacetylene flamethrower turrets were activated promptly, resulting in the incineration of Dr. █████. However, in a previously never observed circumstance, SCP-4XXX survived the incineration attempt and a containment breach occurred.
During the containment breach, SCP-4XXX's behavior was outside of previous paradigms. It teleported beyond the predicted area in several occasions in pursuit of its victims and did not ignore the subjects that enter the area after the start of its frenzy.
TRT Omega-15 was dispatched for suppression of SCP-4XXX. However, despite being equipped with previously observed to be effective dicyanoacetylene flamethrowers, the task force was ineffective against SCP-4XXX. At this point, ████████-class SCP-████ was deployed to counteract SCP-4XXX. Their encounter resulted in the incineration of SCP-4XXX by SCP-████ along with all the remaining members of TRT Omega-15 except for Agent ████.
Following is a transcript of psychological evaluation of Agent ████ after the containment breach.

Psychologist: I understand that you have survived a workplace accident.
Agent: *Laughs* That is one way to put it I suppose.
Psychologist: Would you like to tell me what happened?
Agent: I am… was a part of Tactical Response Team Omega-15. We were tasked with the suppression of an SCP. When we arrived at the scene, it was already a bloodbath. Headless bodies were sprawled everywhere and people were screaming.
Psychologist: That must've been horrible.
Agent: I mean, I am used to it really. That's not the real problem. You know, we call this SCP the Christmas Tree. Because it carries the heads of its victims like ornaments. Half of my team had become ornaments on that damned tree and we still couldn't do anything against it. Once it became clear that we could not contain the thing they called in another SCP to do it instead. When it came it just fired its weapon and turned my team to ashes along with the tree. I'd be dead to if I hadn't thrown myself to the floor. Now, I'm the only one left.
Psychologist: I'll put a request for application of Class B amnes-
Agent: NO! I thought that son of a b** was here to help us! I should've known there is no way a f** SCP would care about us! They are all f** monsters! I will kill that b** and hang its head as a trophy on my wall!
Psychologist: Do you believe that you are capable of doing that?
Agent: …
Psychologist: I will put a request for application of Class B amnestics. Hopefully, after that you will be able to continue your mission here in the Foundation.

Following the psychological evaluation of Agent ████, SCP-████ was found neutralized with its head missing with Agent ████ standing next to it who promptly crumbled to dust and disappeared. Head of SCP-████ was later observed hanging from one of the branches of SCP-4XXX. Agent ████ was deduced to be terminated by SCP-4XXX prior to this evaluation after the discovery of her headless body among casualties and the agent that attended to the evaluation is thought to be a previously unobserved SCP-4XXX-1 instance.
It is important to note that this incident took place while SCP-4XXX was still in recovery. This means that instances of SCP-4XXX-1 are independent of SCP-4XXX's condition.
After the incident site was equipped with a nuclear warhead to be detonated in case of a similar event.
Addendum-4XXX-A: Following the events of Incident-4XXX-C, SCP-4XXX's class has been updated to Keter. It is now believed that the anomaly is not the tree itself, but an unknown entity that resides inside the tree. SCP-4XXX is discovered capable of creating SCP-4XXX-1 instances using the heads that hang from its branches. However, the exact moment of creation has never been observed, including in surveillance records.
The only confirmed instance of an SCP-4XXX-1 is Agent ████. So far it is unknown if there are any other SCP-4XXX-1 instances among site personnel or in general civilian populace. For this reason, any individual known to have been in direct contact with SCP-4XXX must be kept under constant surveillance for any anomalous behavior and an extensive list of SCP-4XXX's victims must be given to the site personnel along with their photographs.
Any individuals that were in direct contact with SCP-4XXX during the time of its discovery has been brought under Foundation custody after proper authorities were informed and are kept under surveillance.
Voice Log-4XXX-A: Following is a transcript of a part of Site Director Dr. ██████'s audio recordings regarding Incident-4XXX-C.

Not many people know that the stories of Santa Claus originate from Anatolia. I suppose Dr. █████ knew and that's why he asked that question to SCP-4XXX. No one would have expected that reaction. We though we knew how to handle SCP-4XXX, but it seems it was toying with us this whole time. I think it is safe to assume that those flamethrowers were only effective because SCP-4XXX wanted us to think they were. So why did it kill SCP-████? I think it's because SCP-████ actually hurt it, so it felt threatened. Good news is, we know it can be hurt. Bad news is, since SCP-████ is neutralized, we have no way to hurt it now. They did provide us with a nuclear warhead, but I'd rather not use it for obvious reasons. So we have to be careful around SCP-4XXX. What's worse is we don't know who is real and who is an instance of SCP-4XXX-1. We can't trust our coworkers. This makes finding a way to hurt this thing all the more difficult. I wish we had a chance to study Agent ████'s duplicate.
