Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a non-reflective containment chamber at Site-76. The power button on the bottom right edge of the casing must be kept in the "on" position, with SCP-XXXX-1 plugged in to a source of power at all times. As an added precaution, SCP-XXXX-1 should be stored with the screen facing away from the entrance to the containment chamber, in case of unexpected power failure. Anyone known to have been affected by SCP-XXXX is to be interviewed by O4 personnel or higher, and subsequently administered class A amnesiacs. Subjects may not then leave Foundation premises under any conditions, and should be kept away from any and all reflective objects, if possible.

Description: SCP-XXXX-1 is an early 2008 LCD Samsung flat screen TV (A550 Series). It is fully functional as a normal television set, and rigorous screening has not revealed any anomalous properties while plugged in.
While disconnected from power, however, the matte surface of the blank screen reflects activity in the room impossible to observe through any other known means. The most common observation is that of humanoid figures (henceforth designated SCP-XXXX-2), engaged in what appear to be ritual activities. These figures cannot be observed through video or pictures taken of SCP-XXXX-1, although their effects on the surrounding environment may be recorded. When a male human over the age of forty-five is brought within twenty meters of SCP-XXXX-1, instances of SCP-XXXX-2 have a roughly seventy percent likelihood of being observed. Once observed, instances of SCP-XXXX-2 will interact with the reflection of any humans within the “line of sight” of SCP-XXXX-1. Said interaction typically consists of an apparent ritualistic ceremony culminating in the removal of a limb from the observer’s reflection. Any mutilation inflicted on reflections do not have any discernible impact on the body of the observer, but any reflection of the observer henceforth seen will be perceived as mutilated in an identical manner. Further details of the observed ceremony and extensive interviews with victims of SCP-XXXX can be found in [REDACTED], available by request upon authorization by level O4 personnel or higher.

Addendum: SCP-XXXX was discovered at an abandoned tenement house in ███████, during a routine Foundation search of locations abandoned for unknown reason. The circumstances surrounding the discovery of SCP-XXXX are currently under investigation.
