Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained within Area-133, situated one hundred and twenty meters beneath the mountains of █████████ inside a 6 x 6-meter primary containment cell. The interiors of the primary containment chamber are to be lined with tungsten carbide plating twenty-five (25) centimetres thick backed by a secondary layer of lead eighty-five (85) centimetres thick. The exterior of the primary containment cell is made of rebar-reinforced concrete six meters thick, and embedded into the concrete is a continuous mesh of metallic copper surrounding the primary containment chamber in a Faraday cage. Internal temperature is to be maintained at a constant 70 °C via a conglomeration of Bonded Heat Sinks and on-site Cryogenic Coolant Pumps.

The primary containment cell is to be situated in the centre of a larger 24 x 24-meter secondary air-tight containment chamber made of concrete and granite slabs, which acts as a buffer zone and features six pneumatic revolving flood valves. All electronics present in the containment chambers are to be adequately shielded from radiation or radiation tolerant and waterproof. Due to the radiological nature of SCP-XXXX, personnel entering the primary containment chamber are to wear Class IV environmental protection suits equipped with Foundation-issued self-contained breathing apparatus.

The interiors of the primary containment chamber are under twenty-four-hour surveillance and communication with the subject is to be done via the integrated intercom system. Radiation levels are monitored by Geiger counters installed into the exterior of the primary containment cell. Four guards armed with Liquid-nitrogen projectors are to be assigned to SCP-XXXX at all times and the structural integrity of the primary containment chamber is to be inspected regularly on a bi-weekly basis.

In the event that SCP-XXXX deviates from its beliefs then Procedure Hazard Gamma is to be initiated.

Should Procedure Hazard Gamma fail, MTF Beta-7 is to be dispatched immediately and the secondary containment chamber valves are to flood the secondary containment chamber and submerge the primary containment chamber under deionized water supercooled to a temperature of -45 °C.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a sapient amalgamation of fissionable Uranium-235 in the form of seven (7) gyroscopic disc optically perceived by sapient beings as a woman of Meditteranean complexion clothed in a white Doric chiton1. Notwithstanding visuals, it does not bear a true physiological or anatomical structure. It inherently elicits an intense fight-or-flight response in all non-anthropoidal lifeforms, which refuse to be within five hundred feet of SCP-XXXX at all times. It insists that Foundation personnel are to refer to it by the self-designated title known as "The ordinary magistrate"2. When it is pressed further in regards to its origin and background, SCP-XXXX refuses to provide any useful information outside of personal anecdotes and banter.

SCP-XXXX is observed to have a pathological obsession for amiable interaction with Homo sapiens, automatically pursuing the human being(s) that cross its line of sight (Dubbed henceforth as SCP-XXXX-1) and will attempt to engage in social interaction. This behaviour is broken down into two states: an active state and a dormant state. Its attitude appears to polarize in a fashion similar to that of Bi-polar Disorder, after failing to acquire an interaction with SCP-XXXX-1 in a period of twenty-four hours, SCP-XXXX enters an indefinite state of dormancy, becoming docile and sedimentary until contact with SCP-XXXX-1 is re-established.

In contradiction to its non-terrestrial, inorganic nature, SCP-XXXX involuntarily mimics organic life functions such as respiration, despite the fact that it lacks an observable respiratory system, and will respond to "dangerous" stimuli in a manner akin to a pusillanimous human being. Despite its psychological tendency to pick flight over fight, testing has revealed that it is impervious to deformation inflicted via means of penetration, pressure and abrasion. However, Liquid nitrogen is successful in both stunning SCP-XXXX and temporarily deterring its radioactive emissions. Additional testing has also demonstrated that SCP-XXXX is susceptible to the use of amnestics, allowing for the procurement of sufficient counter-measures.

Spectrochemical analysis of SCP-XXXX confirms a chemical composition consisting of seventy to eighty-five per cent Uranium-235 isotopes, fifteen per cent Neodymium isotopes and five per cent Ruthenium isotopes. SCP-XXXX generates large quantities of energy in the form of ionizing radiation through self-catalyzed nuclear fission similar to the process of natural nuclear fission reactors3. It is hypothesized that SCP-XXXX reproduces its own mass through exotic means of matter generation but the exact method through which SCP-XXXX obtains additional mass to supply its internal nuclear reactions, eludes current Foundation knowledge.

Radiation readings estimate that SCP-XXXX radiates ionizing radiation at an excess of 1.8 x 107Sv/hr4. Contrary to computed projections, SCP-XXXX's area of effect is localized into an area comprised of two zones:

The Black Zone
The inner-area surrounding SCP-XXXX up to a distance of six meters. Unprotected subjects within the Black Zone will instantly develop symptoms of acute radiation syndrome and expire.
The Red Zone
The outer-area between six to one hundred and fifty-two (152) meters from SCP-XXXX. Unprotected subjects inside the Red Zone will acquire symptoms of chronic radiation syndrome which intensify depending on the relative closeness of the subject to the Black Zone. Subjects within the Red Zone will expire between one to five days from chronic radiation syndrome if left untreated.

SCP-XXXX can manipulate the wavelength of the electromagnetic radiation it produces, including the entire spectrum of visible light, ultraviolet and ionizing radiations, and has even been shown to project invisible beams of ionizing radiation. SCP-XXXX has never demonstrated the ability to produce or manipulate low-frequency and ultra-low-frequency EM waves, suggesting that its anomalous effects are limited to high-frequency EM waves.

Addendum XXXX-A: Recovery Log

SCP-XXXX was originally retrieved on ██/██/████ following the disappearance of the French-led six-man archaeological expedition to Vous Island. Dubbed "The ████████", they were purportedly excavating the ruins of a previously undiscovered man-made subterranean system. Suspecting a likely anomalous nature of the event, seven Foundation agents concurrently stationed at Athens and its surrounding regions assembled at the nearby █████ Observation Post and launched their investigation into the disappearance. Upon arrival at Vous Island, Agent ████'s reported that their spectroscopic survey meter instantaneously picked up the presence of 75 rads of nuclear radiation, which only intensified as the agents approached the mouth of a subterranean labyrinth artificially carved into the indigenous rock. Abandoned excavation equipment was found around the tunnel entrance, but there was a notable absence of human and local wildlife. It had been determined (See Recovered Items Document R2) that a massive chamber containing an unknown individual had just been uncovered one hundred and ten meters from the entrance, when [DATA EXPUNGED] which prompted the entire team to enter the labyrinth. The field agents entered the tunnel system, and five minutes into their exploration, radio communication with high command were unexpectedly terminated. After a forty-eight hours duration of unbroken radio silence, the field agents were pronounced Killed-In-Action and Mobile Taskforce Beta-7 was mobilized to handle the situation.

When Mobile Taskforce Beta-7 reached Vous island, the field agents presumed dead were confirmed to be KIA. An immediate reconnaissance mission into the tunnels was carried out via a hyper-redundant, biomorphic robotic snake (HBRS). The first fifty meters comprised of a narrow, empty hallway with murals5 transcribed to the rock, portraying over a dozen Aegean men in the act of belching with six others deceased, all surrounding a figure in a white garment. It encounters a slight elevation change and the hallway begins to be partially flooded in brackish water with a depth of two feet. It continues to venture an additional thirty meters down the hallway before the live-feed with the HBRS was spontaneously terminated6. Another attempt at reconnaissance via a quadcopter drone proved to be as equally unsuccessful, eliminating the possibility of malfunction.

The squad of nine Maz Hatters, including the Team Captain, entered the tunnels. The top priority of their investigation was recovering the anomaly. Ninety meters into the flooded tunnel, the Maz Hatters felt a conspicuous increase in ambient temperature as they stumbled into the foretold chamber. It was carved into the igneous rock with a diameter of twenty meters, its wall was of a smoothness impossible for the tools of the time and was practically undamaged with the exception of particular indentations in the form of shallow, hand-dug crevices. It also contained a stone podium located four feet from the entrance, vertically protruded from the water, bearing the abrasions presumed to be caused by an explosion of dynamite. It bore engravings on a half-melted golden plate, translating into English as a message which read "Sickness shall greet the cursed who frees the false Athena from their cage."

The MTF Beta-7 ignored the derelict warning and went deeper into the chamber. The deceased bodies of seven foundation field agents and five French archaeologists bobbed in the water, their bodies were all intact but at various stages of acute radiation syndrome. Missing was the man identified to be ███ Delphi, the Greek translator of the French expeditionary team, whose remains were later found [DATA EXPUNGED].

Contact with SCP-XXXX was established as it was encountered emerging from an unseen crevice in the chamber walls, sufficiently stalling the Haz Matters enough as to temporarily capture a member of Mobile Taskforce Beta-7 in its embrace. The Maz Hatters quickly responded with small-arms fire, which proved to be sufficient in stunning SCP-XXXX to the point that it released the captured member out of shock. Cryogenic grenades were detonated during their tactical retreat, subsequent discovering the effectivity of Liquid nitrogen against it. It was tricked into entering the timed simultaneous blast of six cryogenic grenades, neutralizing further radiation emissions.

A Superstallion arrived, specialized for the transportation of mobile radiological anomalies. Both MTF Beta-7 and SCP-XXXX were retrieved with no further incident, and the afflicted Haz Matter was rushed to medical treatment. The remains of the deceased were deemed irradiated and were consequently incinerated. Four days after SCP-XXXX's recovery, a cover-story was printed which deemed Vous Island the site of illegal toxic waste dumping, and access to the island is now off-limits. Demolition teams returned to the island and conducted a controlled demolition of the subterranean labyrinth, succeeding in collapsing 73% of the known structure.
