Item #: SCP-XXXX
Special containment:
Machine is to be contained in a bulletproof glass box with gaps for wires stationed in site-25. Which can be accessed by any trusted individual upon request who is not partaking the session. People who are taking part in the sessions are not allowed to interact with SCP-xxxx itself. While harmless in nature, SCP-xxxx does cause above average emotional response with its users as such any foreign objects within the room say for furniture is not allowed.
Description:
SCP-xxxx appears to be a gaming console, similar to that of old Nintendo design. It has no visible markings of manufacturer or company logo associated who has created the SCP. Currently foundation is yet to disassemble the machine as there appear to be no screws or holes which to start disassembly, say for the unusual looking controller- and game cartage ports. X-ray shows up nothing, as if the machine isn't there.
Testing shows by itself SCP-xxxx has no anomalies properties with power on. If a game is placed on the cartage port, it will play as the game normally would with no deviation from the original product. The port however seem to accept any game cartage, but not CD's or flash drives. Same effect occurs with controller ports, SCP-xxxx seemingly allowing to use any controller. Keyboard and mouse however show no response.
Optional information: Interaction with SCP-xxxx should be discouraged from foundation personal who exhibit high competitive nature and are prone to aggressive behavior upon "losing". Any personal wishing to use SCP-xxxx outside experimentation are to bring their own controllers. See Experiment xxxx-C.
SCP-xxxx came to foundations attention when infamous speedrunner [redacted] attempted to make viral video about his new device. He ended up getting banned from the community upon the allegations regarding his runs with said software being faked and his questionable acts towards the community against the allegations. In his desperate attempt gain any fame his behavior became more disturbing until [DATA EXPUNGED]. Afterwards Foundation retrieved the SCP-xxxx. All the blogs and videos from user [Redacted] has been since deleted by Foundation.
Experiment xxxx-A: Two D-class personal are given game a cartage and set of controllers then taken into the chamber containing SCP-xxxx. They are instructed to play the game on SCP-xxxx as if it was normal console. D-class personal comply and seem to have great time.
Results: So far it seems to function like normal video game console.
Experiment xxxx-B: Two D-class personal, designated D1 & D2, are given a game cartridge set of various controllers. They are instructed to test the functions of SCP-xxxx. Game [REDACTED] is placed into the console and power turned on. Game starts up normally. Original controller for the D1 is inputted, everything works accordingly. D2 requests same controller from the staff. Request is denied and D2 is instructed to input any of the controllers into the console. D2 complies and inputs controller from different console manufacturer. D2 notes that after plugging in the controller, several more controller ports have appeared on the side of the SCP-xxxx. D2 controller has no input on the game. Staff tells D2 to test all the controllers one by one. None work say for one used D1. D2 is instructed to plug in all the controllers in the new ports that have appeared. No input. Original controller is plugged into the slot used by D2. Player to is playing normally.
Results: It seems that the controllers while plugged in are limited to what the game itself is intended to be played with. After the test all the controllers were tested to function normally on their designated consoles. Number of maximum ports for each side appears to be four, allowing up to eight controllers to be plugged in. These new ports only appear once all the existing ones have been filled.
Experiment xxxx-C: Four D-class personal are given game cartage and same controllers. D-class personal will be referred as D1, D2, D3 and D4. D-class are instructed to insert and play the game on SCP-xxxx. D3, seemingly familiar with the game, points out that the game is for two players. Staff instruct D-class to plug in the controllers and start the game. D3 shrugs and does as ordered. With additional controllers, new options have appeared to the menu that have not been documented before nor are they part of the programming of the original cartridge. All of D-class report to be playing normally with the extra number of players. D3 reports that the game is more fun than he remembers. While D1 states that he never really like the game begin with but is enjoying it now. D2 and D4 are enjoying the experience. 13:12 minutes into the experiment, D4 is showing signs of irritation. 13:40 D4 is visibly angry and is starting to act aggressively. 13:52 D4 throws the controller on the nearby wall destroying it. Armed guards enter the room ordering D4 to calm himself. This seems to agitate D4 further and he chargers towards the SCP-xxxx. D4 is terminated before reaching the SCP-xxxx.
Results: It appears that the SCP-xxxx can temporary modify the cartridge to function with more players than intended. Game was tested on to no longer have the options on it's original platform. During the interview remaining D-class, while shaken from the termination of D4, reported they were enjoying the experience more than they normally would have. Suggesting that SCP-xxxx may cause heighten feelings compared to regular games, explaining the sudden outburst of D4. SCP-xxxx should be placed in protective casing to prevent subjects from harming it. D-class personal were given amnestics due the incident.
Experiment xxxx-D: Three D-class personal are given a game and two controllers. D1 is instructed to insert the and the controllers to SCP-xxxx, then observe the game. D-class are to report verbally their mental state during the experiment. Experiment was stopped at 42:51 minutes when D2 expressed he was rapidly getting irritated and no longer had interest to play.
Results: We have confirmed SCP-xxxx has effect on the people who are playing with it. It also seems that the area of effect is limited to people with direct contact to SCP-xxxx. All the individuals appear to be recovering from these heightened emotions back to normal, albeit taking longer than usual.
Addendum xxxx-1: With results so far we request limited foundation personal to have access to SCP-xxxx in order to increase the testing sample size and study the continuous exposure to SCP-xxxx. The way SCP-xxxx affects the mind can be potentially used in our benefit.
Request Grated.
Addemdum xxxx-2: Agent J[Redacted] noticed that after his with SCP-xxxx that the game cartage was still on the chair next to him. But stated he had been playing the game all along. Further testing shows that SCP-xxxx does not require the game cartridge to actually play the game, someone touching the game controller. It seems that somehow SCP-xxxx recreate a game either from controller or is able to, in lack of better wording, "remember" the games it has been subjected to.
Addemdum xxxx-3: Further testing upon these new developments with SCP-xxxx are showing that in some rare cases the games can sometimes be mixed, having features, characters or enemies from different games. How SCP-xxxx does this is still yet to be determined. Due it's mostly positive influence we request SCP-xxxx to be available for all the staff to use, under controlled circumstances to further investigate the possible features of SCP-xxxx.
Request Pending.
Incedent xxxx-[Redacted]: Foundation staff personal was found dead after gaming session. The body was viciously mauled as if attacked by large animal. Security footage shows four research staff members having normal session, until what seems like slowly of three others getting slowly irritated of the now deceased member. After a while deceased researcher starts to laugh maniacally, while rest of the three now simultaneously stand up and start to [DATA EXPUNGED], all the while the victim was laughing until his death. None of the personal in question seem to remember anything of the incident.
