Item #: SCP-5881
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5881 is currently contained behind locked doors in the basement of House 52. Officials have not released any information about SCP-5881 in order to prevent potential panic in the surrounding neighborhood. The remaining residents of House 52 have been asked to leave the dwelling immediately and not discuss any possible stories that were encountered with the “hallucination” (term used in case of any leaked information). Presently, House 52 is being dealt with by the Lakeside Paranormal Association for further inspection. No inspectors nor officials are allowed access to the downstairs part of the dwelling yet due to safety precautions (CODE 11). An alternative exit found multiple days after the incidents were reported has been blocked off completely by rubble, allowing no possible escape for the subject.
The jobs of several officials and inspectors have been terminated for violating CODE 11 along with their attempts to tamper with the subject. However, one previous official placed various cameras throughout the basement in which current officials are able to tinker with to track subject activity. The LPA has confirmed that simple lock mechanisms prevent SCP-5881 from transferring to different rooms of the basement. Opening and unlocking the two known entrances is clearly banned until further notice.
Officials are coordinating a plan to run further experiments on the subject itself. The LPA’s main goal is to observe test subject interactions with the unknown subject, yet avoiding human interaction altogether based on the reported incidents.
Description: SCP-5881 appears to be an 8-foot tall rat with the body structure similar to a human’s. Residents that survived the encounters between the unknown character have reported several instances where SCP-5881 had metaphorically disappeared or gone invisible. Along with that, residents have also reported that the creature carries around a knife-like object practically everywhere it seems to travel and tended to wander about the neighborhood at night. No official or inspector has captured any proof of the subject’s existence on a digital device.
DNA tests have been conducted by several scientists to match various primates for behavioral purposes. The hair samples were located directly on the floor, right next to the entrance of the basement. All tests that have been completely conducted have failed to match anything in behavior, not even a rat or a human.
Reference: The subject has been solely responsible for the slaughter of three confirmed previous residents. On top of that, nine other residents have been reported as missing under the encounters with SCP-5881. If any of the nine are found, the LPA strongly advises an immediate report to gather more details on possible whereabouts. All interviews with the residents that experience an encounter have been scraped or lost.
