Note: I have been assigned to head the research into SCP-XXXX. Although it has been argued to reclassify SCP-XXXX as Euclid or Safe, I must remind all of you that though SCP-XXXX provides no direct physical or memetic threat, it is uncontainable due to its nature. Still, in hopes to reduce SCP-XXXX to a Euclid or Safe threat, further research into possible containment methods has been approved by Site Director █████. I will head this Project. A full manifest document has been attached, but in short, our goal here is to discover from where, if anywhere, XXXX-1 and -2 are manifesting from, who or what, if anyone/anything is causing them to manifest, and how they are manifesting. Once this has been established, more thorough containment procedures are to be hypothesized and tested if practical. -Dr. Gemini
XXXX Experiment 1:
SCP-XXXX Instance: ██, manifested on ██/██/████. Consisting of 5 birds. Instances labeled instance ██-1-A through -1-E, and ██-2-A through -2-E
Goals: To determine if matter ingested or removed from -1 instances demanifests with them. To determine if matter attached to -2 instances or removed from -2 instances demanifests with them.
Procedure -1: All instances were kept in isolated containment. Instances 1-A was provided with nothing. 1-B was given bird seed. 1-C was plucked of feathers. 1-D was anesthetized and a sample of blood taken. 1-E was terminated, and cut into equal 100 gram pieces.
Procedure -2: Instances and their removed/added parts were kept under surveillance in separate low-value anomalous storage containers. Instance 2-A Was left alone. 2-B's micro SD was replaced with an empty commercially available micro SD card. 2-C was shattered into pieces. 2-D was retrofitted with a wireless transmitter via its micro USB port, and set up to stream to an isolated on-site machine. A slot was cut into the top of 2-E, and a folded note with the word "Hello?" written in pen inserted.
Results -1: Instance 1-A demanifested without note. Instance 1-B demanifested, leaving no trace of matter consumed behind.. Feathers plucked from 1-C demanifested at the same time as the rest of the instance, the same being true of the blood sample from 1-D, and all pieces of 1-E. All fecal matter created by instances also demanifested.
Results -2: Instances 2-A demanifested without note. The original micro SD from 2-B demanifested, but so did the empty SD card. All pieces of 2-C demanifested simultaneously. All electronic devices attacked to instance 2-D demanifested, including the cable and transmitter. However, the non-electronic devices used to attach the apparatus (2 zip ties and a strip of electrical tape.) did not. The video feed from 2-D was lost upon the demanifestation of the instance. The note inserted into 2-E did not demanifest along with it.
Notes: So matter consumed -1 instances will go with them, as will electronics connected to -2 instances. We failed to record any footage from our wireless video feed, but I wonder if we could get physical video. Actually, I wonder most: if we alter a -2 instance, will it ever come back during a future XXXX event? -Dr Gemini
XXXX Experiment 2:
SCP-XXXX Instance: ██, manifested on ██/██/████. Consisting of 3 birds. Instances labeled instance ██-1-A through -1-C, and ██-2-A through -2-C
Goals: An attempt to mark and track instances of XXXX-2. This is a long-term experiment: results will not be received until future SCP-XXXX events occur.
Procedure: XXXX-2 micro SD cards were removed, and replaced with superficially identical copies. However, these copies were produced with a slightly altered firmware: with alteration has no effect on storage space or functionality, however, it can be detected with prior knowledge of the alterations.
Results: On ██/██/████, a SCP-XXXX event occured, consisting of 8 birds. Instances labeled instance ██-1-A through -1-H, and ██-2-A through -2-H. Instance -2-H was found to contain a micro SD from Experiment 2.
Notes: Well, that was more successful than I expected. Waiting around for █ months was excruciating, but we now have confirmation that at least some -2 instances are the same as previously observed instances. not only that, but it means subtle alterations to -2 instances will remain unchanged. I doubt we'll ever see that wireless video transceiver from Experiment 1 again, but there may be other ways to gain video footage.
XXXX Experiment 3:
SCP-XXXX Instance: ██, manifested on ██/██/████. Consisting of 8 birds. Instances labeled instance ██-1-A through -1-H, and ██-2-A through -2-H. Instance -2-H was found to contain a micro SD from Experiment 2.
Goals: To gain information on where SCP-XXXX-1/-2 instances go.
Procedure: Instances 2-A through 2-C were retrofitted with various designs of GPS tracker: 2-A's tracker was attached via dongle. 2-B's tracker was embedded in a replacement micro SD. 2-C's tracker was soldered into the circuitry.
Instances 2-D and 2-E were retrofitted with forms of video recording devices. 2-D was fitted with a smaller lens camera hidden in the corner of the device and powered by the main battery of 2-D. Instance 2-E was fitted with an encrypted micro SD. The card has a capacity of 64 GB, but will display only 8 GB when connected to a standard computer. A custom Foundation program has been designed to access the remaining hidden space. Instance 2-E was set to begin recording 1 hour before expected demanifistation.
Instance 2-F's was fitted with a 64 GB micro SD card loaded with a .txt file which read: "Can you read this? What do you want? We are friendly.", as well as a second .txt file designed to be understandable by extraterrestrial life which said the same message in a mathematical language, as well as a reading key for the language consisting of mathematical equations.
Results: Upon demanifestation, no GPS trackers were able to be located.
On ██/██/████, a SCP-XXXX event occured, consisting of 2 birds. Instances labeled instance ██-1-A through -1-B, and ██-2-A through -2-B. Instance -2-B's micro SD card was found to contain a .txt which read the following: "Cease alteration and interference, or there will be consequences."
Notes: Fuck. I didn't expect a response. And I certainly didn't expect a response in simple english. The fact we have a response proves at least that we know some sort of entity is behind this anomaly, and that they're intelligent. It seemed obvious to conclude, but you can never be certain until after testing. I am suspending further experiments until after at least two more SCP-XXXX events occur so that we can observe any possible changes to behavior and to see if any of our surveillance attachments come back.
Transcript of SCP-XXXX Video Log 1
Abstract: On ██/██/████, a SCP-XXXX event occured, consisting of 9 birds. Instances labeled instance ██-1-A through -1-I, and ██-2-A through -2-I. Instance 2-D was found to contain the encrypted 64 GB micro SD card implanted during experiment 3.
Transcript: Video begins 1 hour before demanifestation. Video of inside of storage locker. At 01:00:00, object demanifests. Video flickers to static for 2 seconds, then resumes, depicting a storage locker similar, but not identical to that recorded in hour 1. No changes until 01:28:89, at which point faint voices are heard, and the storage locker is opened. A human caucasian male picks up the video camera, showing a jerky view of himself, another male human, and a storage room. Video camera is shut off, and video ceases.
A new video file begins 32 days later.
Transcript: Video begins. Camera is being swayed and moved about in awkward movements: the sound of bird coos can be heard. Video feed shows an aviary, filled with SCP-XXXX-1 instances equipped with SCP-XXXX-2 instances. Several researchers stand outside of the aviary, huddled around the control panel to a large, complex device which the bulk of the room is devoted to. The device surrounds the entire aviary, and consists of wires, unknown metal structures, and vats of liquid. Camera turns away from the researchers, a clunking sound is heard (presumably the flip of a switch) and video feed cuts to static for 2 seconds. Video resumes, revealing a rural landscape as the bird the camera is attached to begins a controlled descent. Several other SCP-XXXX-1 instances with attached XXXX-2 instances can be seen around the camera, also descending. This SCP-XXXX event was never reported or contained. For the next 4 hours 58 minutes, video shows footage of the flock engaging in expected behavior: flying, roosting, foraging, socializing. After time is elapsed, footage suddenly flickers to static. Video feed resumes in the same aviary as before. Researchers enter the aviary, and detach SCP-XXXX-2 instances from surrounding SCP-XXXX-1 instances, and from the video camera's instance: video feed shuts off.

For the next hour, the flock of SCP-XXXX-1 enact in expected behavior, until containment is begun by agent Manno, Lisa, and Marcus, who contained SCP-XXXX event ██, retrieving the video device. Video shows SCP-XXXX-1 flock and nearby avians flying into the traps set up by agents. SCP-XXXX-2 instance is picked up by agent Manno, and video feed shuts off.
Note: In light of the success of firmware and software editing of the micro SD cards and replacements from SCP-XXXX-2 instances, Junior researcher Cornwalis has proposed developing a spyware virus in order to gain more information about the organisation responsible for SCP-XXXX. Request awaiting approval from site Director █████. -Dr Gemini
Note: Researcher Cornwalis' request has been approved. -Site Director █████.
XXXX Experiment 4:
SCP-XXXX Instance: ██, manifested on ██/██/████. Consisting of 12 birds. Instances labeled instance ██-1-A through -1-L, and ██-2-A through -2-L.
Goals: To gain information on the organisation responsible for SCP-XXXX.
Procedure: A Spyware requested by Reseracher Cornwalis, and developed by Site-88's software development and management team was uploaded to micro SD cards from instances 2-A through 2-E. Micro SD cards from instances 2-F through 2-L were replaced with 64 GB cards with storage over 8 GB hidden. These larger cards are designed to receive information from the spyware uploaded on the cards of instances 2-A through 2-E.

Event XXXX-███:
On ██/██/████, a SCP-XXXX event occurred, consisting of 121 birds. Upon discovery and attempted containment, it was quickly found that all SCP-XXXX-1 instances were infected with a strain of SCP-████. Due to the extremely dangerous nature of SCP-████, termination of authorized, and the area was carpet bombed, resulting in the deaths of ████ persons. Personnel equipped with full level 4 biohazard equipment and video/GPS devices were sent into the area to confirm that all instance of SCP-XXXX-1, and any possible instances of SCP-████-A were terminated. Personnel were also equipped with flamethrowers and automatic weapons and given orders to terminate any living organisms they came across. This resulted in the deaths of another ███ persons, but all instances of SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-████-A were terminated in the process, the area deemed safe, and SCP-XXXX Event ██ considered contained. A cover story blaming the event on ██████ government agents was enacted.
XXXX Experiment 5:
SCP-XXXX Instance: ██, manifested on ██/██/████. Consisting of 5 birds. Instances labeled instance ██-1-A through -1-E, and ██-2-A through -2-E.
Goals: Make them pay. -Dr. Gemini
Procedure: Instances 1-A through 1-E were infected with SCP-███. Instances 2-A through 2-E were equipped with wireless transmitters which attempted to send file "Stand_Down.txt" to any available networks.

Notes: This is not just a Keter class SCP. This is an SCP capable of enacting any number of end of the world scenarios. We have to stop this before it's too late. I am prepared to face any disciplinary actions deemed necessary. -Dr Gemini
Note: Following recent actions Dr. Gemini has been removed as head researcher of SCP-XXXX, and demoted to D-class. In her absence, I will be taking direct involvement in the containment of SCP-XXXX for the time being. -Site Director █████
Event XXXX-█████:
On ██/██/████, a SCP-XXXX event occurred, consisting of 1 human male, and no instances of SCP-XXXX-2. Instance labeled 1-Alpha. The subject appeared on the ground above ███████. Instance was extremely malnourished, and heavily injured. SCP-XXXX-1-Alpha, was promptly captured and contained in a standard humanoid containment chamber on-site.
Interview with SCP-XXXX-1-Alpha:
Interviewer: Site Director █████.
Interviewee: SCP-XXXX-1-Alpha
Begin Transcript:
SCP-XXXX-1-Alpha is in an agitated state: twitchy and nervous, with head down and arms crossed.
Director █████: "So you claim to be a SCP-XXXX instance."
SCP-XXXX-1-Alpha: "If that's what you call it when we █████████ ███, then yes."
Director █████: "Can you tell me why you are here, instead of normal instances of SCP-XXXX-1?"
SCP-XXXX-1-Alpha: "We needed to talk. After what you did. After what we did."
Director █████: "You mean your sending of SCP-████, and our sending of SCP-████. You take responsibility for that?"
SCP-XXXX-1-Alpha: "Yes. Well, my organisation does. I don't. I never wanted this. But i has to stop. Do you understand?"
Director █████: "I would rather things not escalate either, SCP-XXXX-1-Alpha."
SCP-XXXX-1-Alpha: "I have a name y'know, It's just just Geoff. Dr. Geoff. And good. We have the capability of destroying your entire world you know, and—"
Director █████: "We have have the capability to destroy yours."
SCP-XXXX-1-Alpha: "Yes. I can't make what you call SCP-XXXX stop. But I can make it stay safe. Not "Safe", mind you, but safe."
Director █████: "I would very much like that."
SCP-XXXX-1-Alpha: "Then do we have an agreement?"
Director █████: "That your organisation will cease any further aggressive actions?"
SCP-XXXX-1-Alpha: "And that yours will."
Director █████: "We are not the aggressors here."
SCP-XXXX-1-Alpha: "I know. So, you agree? Would you sign a document?"
Director █████: "It depends on the full terms, but how would you transport such a document? I know at least enough about SCP-XXXX events to know that no paper can be transported."
SCP-XXXX-1-Alpha: "May I remove my shirt?"
Director █████: "You shirt?"
SCP-XXXX-1-Alpha: "Yes, just my shirt."
Director █████: "I suppose?" SCP-XXXX-1-Alpha proceeds to stand, and removes his shirt, revealing a set of terms to an agreement tattooed onto his back. A full transcript of which can be found in file "XXXX-Agreement.doc".
SCP-XXXX-1-Alpha: "Will you sign it?"
End log.
SCP-XXXX-1-Alpha demanifested one hour later.
Note: After event XXXX-█████, SCP-XXXX has returned to a normal state. All testing and experimentation regarding SCP-XXXX has henceforth been suspended. -Site Director █████
