SCP-XXXX, in a dormant period.

Special Containment Procedures: The staff of SCP-XXXX, including all researchers, guards, and all other personnel act as employees of a historical reenactment company, maintaining the grounds and educating the public about Regency era England, with a special focus on literature.

All research is to be conducted in the cellar and basement during daily operations as they are closed to the public. Nighttime tests on the grounds are to be approved by the site manager. A ten-foot fence is to be constructed around the whole grounds and the perimeter is to be patrolled regularly for trespassers. If trespassers are found having witnessed SCP-XXXX's abilities; class-B amnestics should be applied. Otherwise, they are to be escorted off the premises and to local law enforcement.

SCP-XXXX is a highly popular tourist attraction due to being one of only two remaining Regency era pleasure gardens in the United Kingdom, therefore fully closing the site to the public has proven difficult to achieve. Currently, efforts to discourage tourism are underway. Promoting the nearby Sydney Gardens as an alternative to SCP-XXXX.1

Additionally, all personnel are required to memorize the recorded Foundation floriography table derived from manuals contemporary to SCP-XXXX, created for rough communication with SCP-XXXX and all instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are to be reported immediately to the removal team.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a Georgian-Era pleasure garden built in 1801 by Horatio Powys in Bathwick Somerset, United Kingdom. Spanning approximately 2.8 acres on which a mansion and outlying gardens are located, with a hedge labyrinth in the northwestern section of the compound. The anomaly of SCP-XXXX is centered on a anomalous mass of flora in the center of the mansion's basement which itself is anomalously large; being 34% bigger than historic plans indicate. It is likely that this is evidence of a dimensional distortion, as all radio communication must exit via the basement door or cellar door otherwise being lost.2

The floral mass is attached to the floor and ceiling by a number of roots and vines, that are speculated to span the entirety of the grounds if not further. All attempts to break through the walls of the basement have failed due to rapidly regrowing plant matter surrounding the basement. Seismic scans inside the basement indicate that the room is at least 1500m below ground. While outside scan indicate that the basement is present in it's normal location. Attempts to enter this basement to confirm it's existence have failed due to the same reason.

The SCP-XXXX is controlled by a sentient entity that is non-hostile to both Foundation personnel and the public. Establishing a direct line of communication with SCP-XXXX has proven difficult and current methods rely on interpretations made from the entity’s control of the garden's grounds. With flowers being the main form in which SCP-XXXX is able to communicate. The meanings of certain flower blooms have been tied to Regency era floriography.3

Foundation telepaths have had a limited success in communicating with with SCP-XXXX. Difficulties in translating the floral mass's telepathic signals have made this both slow and hazardous for foundation personnel with some entering a catatonic state after contact attempts with SCP-XXXX.

SCP-XXXX has the ability to grow flowers at an anomalously fast rate,4 and to grow any flower known to SCP-XXXX. If the flower is unknown to SCP-XXXX it cannot be grown, and SCP-XXXX has been recorded as forgetting certain flowers if they are not in regular usage. SCP-XXXX has demonstrated having senses analogous to human senses with, sight, time, and temperature confirmed from answers given by SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX enters a state of dormancy for an average of six months between November and April due to cold weather.

SCP-XXXX does not purposefully display it's abilities to the public. While the reasons for this are unknown, it is theorized that an organization that previously knew of SCP-XXXX's existence was able to stabilize telepathic contact with it in someway, though little evidence exist for this outside of interviews conducted with SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX has made unconfirmed reference to at least three previous contacts with unique organizations including the Foundation.

SCP-XXXX is one of the oldest anomalies contained by the Foundation and growth rings of trees on the grounds indicate that it's anomalous activity originated at same time of the death of Horatio Powys's two children Emilia and Samuel Powys. SCP-XXXX was contained by the Foundation when Horatio Powys was found dead inside the basement of SCP-XXXX in 1834. The gardens were then purchased in an estate sale by a high ranking member of [REDACTED], one of the progenitor organizations that would become the Foundation.
