Special Containment Procedures:

A 5km perimeter should be established around the site of all SCP-xxxx manifestations until the instance demanifests. Provisional Site-████ has been established inside the structure of SCP-xxxx in order to effect containment of SCP-xxxx-2 and maintain the facilities present within the facility, as well as to enable active research into the origin of SCP-xxxx as well as the anomalous phenomena and entities found within.

All data recovered by P.S.-████ is to be analyzed thoroughly in order to detect possible current or future containment risks, as well as active breaches by SCP-xxxx-2 instances. Any individuals mentioned in the data recovered will be put under surveillance in order to determine any potential connections to PoI-xxxx or any other GoI.

In the event of a containment breach, MTF Psi-19 "Writers' Bloc" will be dispatched to retrieve the SCP-xxxx-2 instance and protect SCP-xxxx-1. If MTF Psi-19 fails to recontain the escaped instance, disinformation will be distributed to local news outlets regarding SCP-xxxx-1's cause of death.

Description:

SCP-xxxx is the designation for a series of seemingly non-anomalous structures which often temporarily manifest near populations of reality bending individuals, primarily those with a growing interest in fictional writing. In all manifestations of SCP-xxxx, a single entry point can be found which leads to a vast non-Euclidean space housing a variety of scientific research and containment facilities for a number of unusual and semi-anomalous objects and creatures, hereafter referred to as SCP-xxxx-2. Besides this threshold and the structures' sudden appearance and disappearance, the area surrounding this "access point" are otherwise mundane.

Observed instances of SCP-xxxx-2 have varied significantly in size, shape, effect, and threat level during exploration of SCP-xxxx's interior space. Extreme caution must be exercised during all interactions with SCP-xxxx-2 instances. Much like the entry point to SCP-xxxx, SCP-xxxx-2 instances and their apparently designated containment areas also tend to appear and disappear from the facility without warning. In some cases, upon returning, SCP-xxxx-2 instances will be modified in some way, often times appearing to have "evolved" in some fashion. New data regarding these changes will also manifest on both physical and digital files within the facility which are associated with the instance.

Discovery:

On [][]/[][]/[][][][], a series of apparently anomalous murders were brought to Foundation attention after an investigation was initiated by the UIU. While none of the causes of death appeared related, in all cases they had been in some way associated with a written work being produced by the victim shortly before their death. During their investigation, the UIU discovered a number of brochures and pamphlets in the homes of several of the victims advertising opportunities for "up and coming fiction writers" to have their works […] (there's a phrase here.. I just can't remember what it is) UIU agents attempted to contact the phone number provided in the advertisements —

Special containment procedures: SCP-xxxx is kept in a standard secure containment locker in site-██. SCP-xxxx is now kept in a reinforced secure containment locker with additional biometric security measures restricted to personnel with Clearance Level 4/PROMPTU.

Description: Besides its anomalous traits, SCP-XXXX is an otherwise typical hardcover book from the 1960's, containing 300 137 blank pages.

SCP-xxxx's anomalous ability manifests when the name of a living individual is written on its pages. After a period of five minutes from writing the name, the targeted individual is still alive, they will be instantaneously translocated to an unidentified region of forest mountain ranges, hereafter referred to as SCP-xxxx-1.

Examination of SCP-xxxx-1's environment strongly resembles that of Earth. Attempts have been made using observed astrological data to precisely identify the potential region occupied by SCP-XXXX-1, but with no success. Initial exploration of the region revealed there to be no apparent limits to SCP-xxxx-1's expanse, with no visible signs of civilization of any kind in all directions. Discrepancies were also discovered in the lengths of exploration video and audio logs from inside SCP-xxxx-1, suggesting a difference in the regions local timescale.

Testing of SCP-xxxx's translocation effect has revealed that all items worn by the subject will be translocated as well. If the target individual is already present within the internal region of SCP-xxxx, then writing their name will transport them back to the location they were taken from, instead.

Foreword: After initial exploration teams discovered the time dilating characteristic of SCP-6000-1 during initial testing, it was decided that further exploration of the region would be necessary to ascertain the nature of the time dilation as well as the physical limits of the space.

Procedure: D-5331 and D-8469's names will be written on a page in SCP-6000. To account for the relative time difference within SCP-6000-1, D-5331 and D-8469 will be equipped with a standard survival kit, including tents, several days worth of MRE's, and basic survival tools such as a compass, flashlight, spare batteries, etc. Both subjects have been instructed to wait approximately three days before writing their names on the page again in order to return. Neither has been informed of the anomalous nature of SCP-6000 or -1.

13:31 D-5331 spontaneously manifests in their original position after longer duration than expected. Subject was immediately questioned regarding their time in SCP-xxxx-1 and the apparent absence of D-8469. D-5331 stated that after the first few days, they thought they would be able to "escape" the Foundation inside SCP-xxxx-1. After nearly a week had passed, they realized that there wasn't enough food to last. D-5331 reported that D-8469 proceeded to attack them after a particularly heated argument over this fact, resulting in D-5331 wounding them in self defense.

Conclusions: Based on the experiences of both subjects, supported by the amount of supplies they consumed during their time within SCP-xxxx-1, it has been determined that there is a roughly 1:1200 difference in timescale. This would mean that for every month spent inside SCP-xxxx-1, subjects experiences roughly one century. Due to this, excursions into SCP-xxxx-1 that last longer than a few minutes are ill advised outside Project PROMPTU. D-8469 has been presumed deceased from their injuries and later exploration teams were able to locate their body in the remnants of what was likely a camp made by the subjects. Autopsy of the corpse revealed injuries which correspond with D-5331's story.

D-5331's attention abruptly snaps to Dr. Carlislav.

D-5331: How do you sleep at night, Doctor?

Dr. Carlislav is visibly confused.

Dr. Carlislav: I'm not sure I understand what you're referring to, 533-

D-5331: We're all just numbers to you people. You insist on dehumanizing us so you don't have to feel so bad about the nightmares you feed us to on a daily basis.

Dr. Carlislav: That's not what we're talking abou-

D-5331: Oh, no. Its precisely what you want to talk about. You want to know what happened to ██████? He flipped his lid because you people want to do your research. Gestures quotations

D-5331: Yeah? Well, I guess your numbers were bad or something, because it wasn't enough. Maybe you misplaced the decimal. It doesn't really matter, now, though. ██████'s already dead, and I doubt you'll be using any of your fancy toys to bring him back.

Dr. Carlislav: Were you close to D-846-

D-5331: His name is ██████! We all have fucking names! ██████ still had a family! But you braniacs went and did some bad math and he lost his shit in that fucking forest. What the hell were we supposed to do when the food ran out? Its not like there was anything to hunt in there! There are just god damn trees, as far as the eye can see. But you already knew that, I'm sure… You just wanted to see what would hap-

Dr. Carlislav: We're… We're going to continue this interview another time. What happened to the two of you was clearly traumatic, and I think you need some time to work thr-

D-5331: You're so full of [multiple expletives and vulgar comments redacted.]

At this point, D-5331 proceeded to lash out aggressively at Dr. Carlislav, requiring security to subdue the subject with tranquillizers before transporting D-5331 back to their cell.

SCP-xxxx Incident Report: On 11/09/1980 SCP-████ broke containment and proceeded to rampage through the D-Class cell block at Site-██, damaging multiple cells and freeing their occupants in the process. As a result, D-5331 was released and somehow managed to escape the site with SCP-xxxx. It is assumed that before site security could identify the missing item, D-5331 managed to write his own name into SCP-xxxx. As D-5331 possessed the only known instance of SCP-xxxx, obtaining any information pertaining to either the individual or SCP-xxxx's whereabouts were designated a high priority.

Addendum-1: Approximately three days after the theft of SCP-xxxx, security personnel at Site-██ reported multiple D-Class suddenly missing from their cells with no signs of tampering or foul play. Security camera footage showed that all of these disappearances occurred within a short time period. During further investigation, a dossier of D-Class present at Site-██ was discovered missing. It was theorized that D-5331 may have also stolen this list of names during their escape, as it specifically contained information on each of the missing D-Class.

On 11/15/1980, one of the missing D-Class was seen at Site-██. Site security were unable to capture the subject, but video footage showed the individual carrying a variety of miscellaneous toiletries and other items through the halls of the site before entering a janitor's closet. When Security personnel searched the closet, however, the subject was nowhere to be found. Several hours later, another of the missing D-Class was seen at Site-███ carrying a standard issue security rifle, which was later reported stolen from site's armory. Yet another D-Class was observed shortly after in the site's cafeteria. Security arrived to find the subject carrying a large bag filled with food from the cafeteria pantries. The D-Class fled back into the pantry when the security team moved in to detain them, but when the team opened the door, the subject was gone along with the bag of food. The next day, a note was found in their cell reading "Freedom is found in the City of Dreams. ~██████ █████"

The name "██████ █████" corresponds with the name of D-8469, despite the evidence of their death.

Within a few weeks, a total of ████ D-Class were reported missing, along with mass reports of raids on sites by the missing individuals from locations around the globe. A steady increase in the frequency and calculated nature of these incidents suggest a significant population may now likely reside within the space accessed by SCP-xxxx.

Addendum-2: On 12/10/1980, D-4756 (one of the missing D-Class) was captured raiding the supply stores of Site-███. D-4756 was seen entering the storage area by site staff. When security teams arrived, D-4756 was found huddled in a corner of the room with a large backpack and several bags filled with miscellaneous objects similar to previous reports. D-4756 also had a standard issue security rifle in their possession. When ordered to relinquish the weapon, D-4756 refused and opened fire on the security team. Security personnel returned fire, critically wounding D-4756 before the subject abruptly disappeared, leaving behind several of the bags which they had dropped, as well as a crumpled piece of paper that appeared to have been torn from a book. The page had a number of names written on it, each one corresponding to a missing D-Class, including that of D-4756.

Given the possibility of a connection to SCP-xxxx, researchers attempted to bring back the individuals listed on the page. Of the ██ names listed, only █ were able to be recovered by writing their names on the page again. It was noted that D-4756 was not among the recovered D-Class, likely having died of their wounds shortly after disappearing. Interrogation of the recovered individuals revealed that a settlement had been built within the anomalous region accessed by SCP-xxxx shortly after the theft of the book by D-5331. D-5331 had deemed himself their savior and promised freedom in this "new world," free from the Foundation. The D-Class also revealed that they had in fact been using SCP-xxxx in order to steal supplies periodically, as needs had grown significantly over the years inside the internal region of SCP-xxxx.

In addition to the information obtained through interrogation, several of the D-Class had been found possessing similar pieces of SCP-xxxx. In order to verify the statements of the recovered D-Class and assess the current situation within the anomalous place, Agent Michael ██████ of MTF Alpha-4 ("Pony Express") was briefly sent in using the page recovered from D-4756. Agent Michael's orders were to avoid all contact and reconnoiter the area, before using the page to return. Upon Agent Michael's return, they confirmed all of the information divulged by the recovered D-Class. The existence of an entire city of D-Class capable of spontaneously teleporting into and out of Foundation facilities was considered too high a risk to let continue without immediate action.

Agent Michael volunteered to infiltrate SCP-xxxx-1 and recover SCP-xxxx. On 12/12/1980, Agent Michael, posing as D-7815 was introduced into the ranks of Site-██'s D-Class holding block, where a significant number of the missing D-Class had escaped. Within several days, Agent Michael received an opportunity to "escape" with several other D-Class who had been in contact with the inhabitants of the place of SCP-xxxx. Agent Michael's took the opportunity, disappearing into the anomalous place, secretly in possession of one of the recovered pages provided by the Foundation. Approximately one hour after his disappearance, Agent Michael reappeared inside Site-██ with SCP-xxxx in his possession. A debriefing interview was conducted immediately following their return.

Foreword: Questions about the current situation of the colony of D-Class which has formed inside the internal region of SCP-xxxx.

Dr. Benedict: Please state your name.

Agent Michael: Michael ██████.

Dr. Benedict: Perfect. So, Michael, could you tell me what you saw during your undercover mission into SCP-xxxx-1?

Agent Michael: Do you want me to start from the holding block or jump straight to the Dream City?

Dr. Benedict: Dream City?

Agent Michael: Yeah, that's the D-Class are calling that place. They've started calling themselves the "Free Dreamers." Said it's because they're no longer "disposable" and are free from the nightmares they endured in the Foundation.

Dr. Benedict: Interesting… writes something on notepad.

Agent Michael: So yeah, there really isn't much to say about the cell block. A surprising amount of the D-Class have heard of the city. It's sort of turning into a "D-Class heaven" for some of these guys. I couldn't believe a lot of what they were saying about it, even after seeing it from a distance. But when they finally brought me in, I was amazed. The place was beautiful, like some kind of Garden of Eden. The inhabitants may be death row inmates, but there? They were… kind. Respectable. Some of them have started whole families because of the time warp thing. They've built their own homes with the resources inside SCP-xxxx-1 and whatever they've been snagging from our sites. It was really just peaceful, there. Like walking into a fantasy movie.

Dr. Benedict: How did you manage to steal SCP-xxxx?

Agent Michael: Well, once I got in there it was actually hard to pin it down. Because of the accelerated time inside, D-5331 was obviously long dead. The people there practically worshipped that guy, though. He was like some kind of saint to them, and I guess I can see why.

Dr. Benedict: I don't see how that is pertinent to the recovering 6000. You said they passed it on to someone else?

Agent Michael: Wha-? Oh yeah, so when he died, apparently the D-Class set up some sort of council of elected Elders. They had passed the book down to someone on the council for keeping. This one lived in one of the older houses in the city. Looked like it had been around a while and had a lot of work done. My guess is they started building it a little after xxxx was stolen. It was decorated with all sorts of stuff from Foundation sites, too.

Dr. Benedict: So they've been taking things from the sites as trophies?

Agent Michael: Yeah, I guess so. It wasn't actually very hard to get in, though. They may be convicts, but most of them aren't trained like the MTF's. I just sort of slipped in the back and took the book. Put my name on that page you gave me, and here we are. Looks like there are quite a few missing pages, though.

Dr. Benedict: We should be able to recover a significant number of the escapees with what's been written in SCP-6000. Thank you for your hard work, Michael. When it comes time to take in the rest of the colony, you're welcome to join the operation. Was there anything else important that you wanted to add?

Agent Michael: Yeah, actually… They have a pretty fair number of our guns, too, by the way. Taking them out may not be as easy as you guys are hoping.

Dr. Benedict: I think we'll find a way to deal with them just fine.

Agent Michael: Doc…

Dr. Benedict: What is it, Michael?

Agent Michael: I don't think we should "invade" them… I mean, yeah we should probably recover the rest of the pages, but there are so many people living there. Some of them were born there. They're not even really D-Class. They haven't done anything wrong and that place is all they know. Would it really hurt to just… Leave them alone?

[Pause]

Dr. Benedict: …What?

Alpha-4 Micheal: All I saw in that place was peace. I know some of these guys have done some messed-up stuff, but most of the original D-Class seem to have either changed their ways or died off. I don't think it's our place to ruin what these people have.

Dr. Benedict: Do you realize how big of a risk that would be to the Foundation? We've lost a significant amount of resources to these scavengers, as it is. And you want to let them go? Based on what, the goodness of your heart? They're killers, Michael! Murderers! The worst of the worst!

Alpha-4 Micheal: Yes but-

Dr. Benedict: We just had a horrible breach at Site-██ because the D-Class needed for containing ███ disappeared! Good people died, Michael! People I knew!

Alpha-4 Micheal: I'm very sorry for your loss sir, and I understand that, bu-

Dr. Benedict: Do you understand, Michael?

Alpha-4 Micheal: pauses… I still think they should be allowed to stay… The D-Class are tortured, killed and… frankly massacred by the hundreds for "what they've done"… But the people that are born there haven't committed a crime. I know how this place works, though, Benedict! As soon as we take them out of that place, they're just going to throw them in a jumpsuit and add their bodies to the pile. Congratulations on your new position with the Ethics Committee! You must be wondering why, with all the more sinister and immoral dealings of the Foundation… Why were you charged with… Well, this? You could have been assigned to any number of Ethically questionable projects, goodness knows there are plenty. SCP-xxxx is certainly one of the lesser-known anomalies on the Ethics Committee's radar.

I know you probably have so many questions, and I did too. What happened to the last addendum? What happened to the "Dream City"? What is Project PROMPTU? This automated message is here to fill you in on the details. The document you just read was meant to make you ask questions.

The only personnel allowed to know the truth are the Overseers and the Ethics Committee, so I'm here to clue you in on the real function of SCP-xxxx. But in order for me to do that, I need to tell you a story.

Back in 1980, the Foundation as you know it was in quite a predicament. Most of the world's developed countries were starting to ban the death sentence. Given the majority of our D-Class at the time were sourced from prisoners on death row, you can probably guess why this wouldn't bode well for us. At the time, we didn't have another reliable means from which to obtain this suddenly precious "commodity," if you will. Well… At least none which hadn't been reserved for higher priority issues. We were forced to make do for quite some time, with the average number of on-hand D-Class at a site sitting around 1000 or less at a time. We had a few dangerously close calls thanks to these circumstances. Things changed when D-5331 stole that book, though. Somehow, he managed to build a city of D-Class inside of SCP-xxxx-1 and stole a significant portion of what D-Class we had left. It didn't seem like it at first, but this would eventually become a serious stroke of luck in the given circumstances.

You've read the initial reports. Within a few weeks, most of our sites' maintained D-Class populations were dwindling into the double digits or less. We had to do something and we were losing more by the day. Someone even suggested "breeding" them, but that didn't sit well with most folks and would have taken to long anyway. Then we caught that idiot with a piece of the book. We weren't able to snag the 5331. He was probably long dead of old age, but we got a few back along with more pieces of SCP-xxxx. We were originally planning on sending in an MTF, wiping out the population and stealing the book back. But when the agent we sent in reported a whole city in there? At first the higher-ups were surprised, and then worried. They considered the threat of an anomalous city of D-Class too great to just "live and let live." And then we had an idea.

We all expected some resistance, but what we weren't expecting was a war. We sent in an MTF to do the dirty work and clean out the ones we couldn't manage to bring back with SCP-6000. When they got to the city, the D-Class was already prepared. They had put together an army of their own from stolen gear and scraps and turned their little city into a fortress. We lost a lot more people than we had anticipated. The "Dream City" fought back against us with tooth and nail, clawing back every inch of the way. Of course, they didn't want to go back. Who wants to be considered disposable? Some of them even went so far as suicide, preferring to go out on their own terms than at the hands of some monster contained by the Foundation.

In the end, we took the city. The D-Class that survived were amnesticized and sent to the facilities that needed them most. There still weren't enough… During this process, their leader offered a compromise. Yeah, none of us were expecting that. His proposition was; at the end of every month (you know, when terminations come around) we take what we need out of their city and amnesticize the rest, and in return, they get supplies and to live out their lives in peace.. It's a weird sort of compromise, but this way, when the D-Class in the city has pretty much lived out the perfect life, we wipe their minds and get to use them as needed again. That's Project PROMPTU and we still use it when we need D-Class to this day. Their leaders then tell those that are left behind that their bodies are given a "burial" ceremony elsewhere and we all move on with our lives. We've left a portion of SCP-6000 as collateral for the supplies we provide, and kept the other portion so that we can retrieve the month's D-Class and follow through on our end of the bargain.

It's a perfect loop. With the amount of D-class that we receive through this project, there's no real need for using up vital resources like SCP-████ to clone them. That's not to say we don't get them from elsewhere when an exceptional or urgent need arises, but 6000 helps cut down on other less… "savoury" methods. Even the Ethics Committee understands that sometimes we must do difficult things and finds it challenging to argue this one. I mean, the D-Class gets to live a whole life in peace. What we need them for effectively becomes like a really bad dream and we all sleep a little better by looking at it that way.

So you must be thinking: "What? The Foundation just lets a bunch of D-Class rule themselves?" Well… No, not that's not explicitly the case. We have a member of the Ethics Committee embedded in their leadership to make sure everything stays on the up and up, and to keep them from causing trouble.

Overall, we let them live in the light so they may die in the dark. Is it bad, is it good? Well, it's somewhere in the middle. Remember: we are the SCP Foundation, we don't deal in black or white, we are grey and it shall stay that way.

**Addendum-6000.3: PROJECT PROMPTU

Following its creation, with the approval of O5-Command and the Ethics Committee, Project PROMPTU has been deemed the most appropriate means of dealing with the current situation.

Every week, a team of hand-selected agents are to exchange places with the current team in charge of Project PROMPTU. Agents will be chosen by the current project lead and approved by O-5 command.

Once every month, this team will provide a list of names from the current occupants xxxx-1 to the current Project PROMPTU lead. The number of names is determined by the current estimated needs of the Foundation's global containment operations.

This list of names will be transcribed in a new iteration of xxxx, bringing those individuals out of xxxx, where they will then be administered Class-D amnestics in order to remove any memory of their time within xxxx. After this, the individuals will be distributed to their designated facilities for D-Class duties as needed.
