Item #: SCP-4109

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4109 is to be contained in a standard humanoid containment cell located in the east wing of Site-88. The room is to be supplied with a list of items that SCP-4109 has requested to keep him occupied; all of which have been approved by 05-█.

  • Blank sheets of paper, size and brands irrelevant
  • Multiple black pens
  • A shoe-polishing kit, manufactured in Taiwan
  • Three packs of Taiwanese cigarettes, along with a lighter
  • Various pieces and volumes of Chinese literature, written within the 20th century

As SCP-4109 does not appear to need to eat, excrete bodily fluids or wastes, sleep, or able to contract disease, they shall remain within their containment chamber majority of the day. A set schedule is in place, regulating the length and times of day SCP-4109 is able to leave it's containment cell and go for walks, both inside and outside the premise of Site-88. SCP-4109 is restricted to accessing the courtyard only in terms of outside activity. SCP-4109 is free to walk around the facility unguarded, as he himself does not pose an immediate threat SCP-4109 must be accompanied by two or more security personnel at all times when removed from his chamber, with one gag rope carried by security personnel assigned to SCP-4109.

Personnel affected by SCP-4109’s speeches when not in an experiment are to immediately be attended to by medical staff on-site, and are to be given Class-A amnestics as soon as possible. If SCP-4109, for whatever reason, recites one of his written works around personnel without permission, he is to be immediately gagged and returned back to his holding cell. While this has grown increasingly unlikely, please refer to Incident-4109-█ for details.

During testing procedures, personnel involved are required to wear noise-cancelling headphones in order to prevent SCP-4109's effects being unintentionally spread to research and security staff.
While SCP-4109 is capable of reciting a speech whenever it likes, it has willingly agreed to halt any and all poetic and speech recitals unless ordered to during testing procedures.

Description: SCP-4109 is a middle-aged Chinese male, approximately six feet in height and of average build, formerly known as Wang Zhaoming,1 a former member of the Kuomintang political party of the now defunct Republic of China.

SCP-4109 is fluent in English, Chinese and French, and has claimed to have studied within France in his youth.2

SCP-4109 has been shown to enjoy writing poems and various other speeches relating to a variety of topics, such as fervent Chinese nationalism, anti-communism, patriotism, militarism, along with traditional oriental poetry for the 1930's-1940's time period. SCP-4109's anomalous effects occur when any individual hears him recite his poems, regardless of the amount of effort put in by SCP-4109. SCP-4109 recites his written work in traditional Chinese, as reciting them in English or French do not appear to acquire similar effects.

Individuals affected by SCP-4109's words undergo serious psychological shifts in attitude and fervor, and will henceforth be referred to as SCP-4109-1 until proper amnestics have been administered. While there have been varying effects depending on the content of said speeches, they have all expressed loyalty to SCP-4109 in different ways.

For example, a speech regarding militarism will have the individuals begin acting as if they are armed combative personnel on-duty, often entering formation near SCP-4109 and acting as a “personal guard” to 4109 from said point on. Individuals affected typically will not pause their “duty” unless SCP-4109 orders them to stand down, in which they will experience discomfort along with a brief nasal hemorrhage before losing consciousness.

A speech regarding tranquility will have most affected personnel become increasingly relaxed and wiser in stature, often stating that they feel “calmer than they have in years”. After prolonged effect, the affected personnel will eventually fall asleep for various amounts of time, ranging from two (2) to eight (8) hours.

Addendum: Mr. Zhaoming had committed acts of treason against the Chinese government within the second world war, conspiring with Japanese officials and being emplaced as the head of a puppet regime located around Japanese-occupied Beijing. Although official records state that Wang Zhaoming died on the tenth of November, 1944, SCP-4109 claims to be "the one and only, Jingwei".
