Item #: SCP-???? (Idea Shelved/Rejected)
Object Class: Euclid (Safe classification revoked on ██/██/20██)
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-???? can be taken anywhere in the facility and can be used by any personnel that are not assigned to a task. However, the dials and buttons are only to be altered by personnel who have been trained to use ????. Test subjects and guests may also use SCP-????, provided proper permission has been granted beforehand, and the aforementioned trained personnel are present. SCP-???? must be handled very carefully when being transferred to another room.
Description: SCP-???? is an old karaoke machine that resembles such machines designed in the 1980's. However, the exact the model of the machine does not match any other type of karaoke machine known to exist. The previous owner of the machine cannot seem to recall where he got it from. The last known previous location of SCP-???? was at a bar in ██████, Wisconsin.
Once SCP-???? is used, it appears to grant the user an unrealistically high level of singing talent to those who sing into the microphone without drastically changing the user's voice. The singer will also feel very warm-hearted and confident dependent on the song. This phenomenon occurs even to those with no singing experience whatsoever. Even individuals with high singing talent find themselves singing "better" using SCP-????, according to any listener within hearing range. The second the microphone is released from the user's grip, the heightened level of singing disappears instantly (such as the microphone being placed on a stand, rather than being in someone's hand). Note that the song (and genre of it) being sung can slightly weaken the effects of ????.
The anomalous effects did not instantly appear during the creation of the machine, as it was rumored to have been "activated" by an individual who went by ██████ ███ when he sung the exact lyrics "I thank God I'm alive" when singing the song "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" by Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. At that very moment, the singer's voice became very seductive and the audience became absolutely enthralled in the singing, with no negative opinions from the audience. The anomalous effects were no longer present for 4 weeks, until another singer during a birthday began singing "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me" by Mel Carter. After this, the anomalous effects became permanent.
Those who listen to any individual's singing from SCP-???? find themselves heavily captivated by the singer, regardless of the singer's type of voice, with no record of negative reception from any listener so far. Listeners may even begin crying during some songs. Songs with a positive tone and/or about love appear to give the greatest effect. However, songs with a "hateful" tone such as death metal can bring a strong feeling of distress and depression to any listener, though the singing talent is still present. For this reason, personnel must be careful of what songs are played on the machine.
The machine has been taken apart, but no further anomalous properties could be found within. The buttons and controls on the machine work normally, also with no further anomalous properties.
The machine's effects are not limited to humans, as various animal sounds and vocalizations uttered by non-human SCP's have been described to sound more pleasurable than they normally do. Experiments with SCP-???? have been made with other SCP's.
Addendum SCP-????-A: SCP-???? is given to multiple SCP's on 8/██/20██ to further test the sound changes given from the microphone.
SCP-???? is given to SCP-035 after the latter has possessed a test subject. Given the strange nature of 035's voice upon possessing an individual, the attractive and captivating effect is still heard when ????'s microphone is used.
SCP-???? is dangled above SCP-682, though due to his hateful disposition, is not very cooperative in the experiment. Though the very few sounds from 682 caught on ????'s microphone are still described as "more positive sounding".
SCP-343 showcases the most effectiveness out of using ????, as he sings a song that was capable of bringing many listening personnel to tears, due to the happiness the listeners felt during the short song 343 provided with the machine. This could just be 343's doing even if the microphone wasn't present, however.
SCP-073 was the last SCP to use ????, and not only provides a captivating listening experience, but was the first to showcase ????'s effects while singing in different languages.
Though this has not been fully proven by the personnel in charge of the experiment, it has been stated that the stone-shifting sounds created by SCP-173 have created a "catchy beat" when ????'s microphone is near enough to 173.
