Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is veiled as a training property for firefighters, and other emergency responders in the use of practical and experimental methods of escaping burning or collapsing structures. On-site personnel are to dress accordingly. Any exit made from SCP-XXXX above SCP-XXXX-4 are only to be attempted between the hours of 12:00 AM and 5:00 AM local time.

Security Personnel are to be stationed on SCP-XXXX-31 and SCP-XXXX-33 to prevent any non-cleared personnel from making contact with SCP-XXXX-U, and to ensure SCP-XXXX-U is contained on SCP-XXXX-32. Any member of SCP-XXXX-U attempting to escape SCP-XXXX is to be subdued. Lethal force is authorized.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a building located in Matthews, North Carolina originally with four floors only accessible by an elevator, designated as SCP-XXXX-A. There are no stairwells inside SCP-XXXX.

The control panel within SCP-XXXX-A has several buttons. These buttons are labeled as follows: 1, 2, 3 ,4, and Up. The numbered buttons function normally, taking the elevator to the corresponding floor. The numbered buttons only function in this way when the floor being travelled to is higher than SCP-XXXX-A’s current position. Any attempts to travel downward in SCP-XXXX-A have been unsuccessful. The button labeled “Up” will take SCP-XXXX-A upwards exactly one story from the current floor it is on.

Pressing the “Up” button while SCP-XXXX-A is on the fourth floor of SCP-XXXX SCP-XXXX’s currently highest floor will cause it to travel upwards exactly one story, creating an entirely new floor identical to the last. The original floors, and any newly created floors have been identified as SCP-XXXX-1 through SCP-XXXX-871. The control panel within SCP-XXXX-A will not create new buttons for these newly formed floors. The only way to access SCP-XXXX-5 through SCP-XXXX-87 is to repeatedly press the Up button. The only way for SCP-XXXX-A to travel downwards is to be called upon externally at a lower floor. SCP-XXXX-A will not travel downwards when called upon if it currently has living occupants. SCP-XXXX-A will travel downwards with deceased occupants.

SCP-XXXX-5 through SCP-XXXX-87, along with any inhabitants of these floors are only visible and tangible from within SCP-XXXX.2 Injuries suffered and illnesses contracted within SCP-XXXX only persist within its walls. Testing of anomalous diseases within SCP-XXXX is currently pending approval.3

Addendum 1-XXXX: Any Foundation personnel traveling to any location higher than SCP-XXXX-4 within SCP-XXXX must be equipped with a survival kit consisting of, but not limited to: two days worth of non-perishable food, two days worth of water, and a standard issue hunting knife. Depending on the exact height of the expedition the kit should also include either a parachute, or a wingsuit. Any Foundation personnel on one of these expeditions should receive proper training with both aforementioned additions to the kit regardless of which one is taken.

Addendum 2-XXXX: Testing of anomalous diseases, infections, and illnesses is permitted within SCP-XXXX exclusively on SCP-XXXX-77. A testing camp is to be established on this floor and should be restocked weekly with necessary supplies. Use of SCP-XXXX-U members for these tests is under the discretion of researchers assigned to SCP-XXXX.
