Item#: SCP-5436(placeholder)
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5436 is to be kept in a 5m x 5m x 5m airtight room. Walls, floor, and ceiling are to be a minimum of 1 meter thick of steel insulated with heavy-duty soundproofing. Any materials used in the production of the containment room must be acid-resistant as low as -10 pH. SCP-5436 is never to be observed directly by SCP personnel unless cleared by class B or higher personnel. Indirect observation of SCP-5436 is conducted by two high-definition cameras on opposite corners of the room and are to be surrounded by heated steel plating that is a minimum 200 degrees celsius to restrict usage of webbing by SCP-5436 in front of the cameras.
SCP-5436 is to be fed one Class D personnel every year to maintain the health of SCP-5436. The personnel must be conscious upon entering the containment area.
According to a Level 5 intensity PET scan, SCP-5436 experiences higher brain functions than it currently outwardly exhibits. As such, all observing personnel is to remain on watch for potentially malicious behavior. Any attempts of the subject at communicating or attempting escape must be documented and reported to containment's nearest class B personnel. Any experiments attempted with SCP-5436 must have in attendance two Class B Researchers and a minimum of 4 Level 5 Special Containment Enforcers.
Description: SCP-5436 is a large arachnid of a previously unknown species. Roughly 2 meters in diameter, 1 meter at its tallest, and weigh approximately 51kg (112lbs). Resembling the body structure of a spider, SCP-5436 has eight legs, a head, a thorax, and an abdomen, all covered in 1-inch thick chitin. The subject does have working spinnerets that produce a substance comparable to standard spider webbing but with higher adhesive and tensile strength properties. The subject also has the capability of producing acid from its mandibles. This acid has been recorded as having a pH as low as -3. This acid has been observed contacting the subject's chitin appearing to have no visible effect.
SCP-5436's diet consists solely of humans, and the subject has refused to eat any other biologically produced item that could be considered food. Upon its capture, it was discovered that SCP-5436 could reproduce human speech on a rudimentary level, often mimicking words or phrases it has heard recently.
SCP-5436 exhibits perpetually predatory behaviors when in nature, even when it did not require sustenance, SCP-5436 continued to hunt humans.
Observed Hunting Strategies:
- Utilizing thin webbing at approximately 10 cm off the ground, SCP-5436 has created tripwires to slow down prey.
- SCP-5436 will often attempt to puppet previous kills to lure out other humans.
- SCP-5436 has created excess threading and attached it to a human captive before releasing it to find more humans. Upon the original captive finding another human, the captive is pulled back into the subject's grasp before it continues pursuit of the newly found human.
It is currently unknown if SCP-5436 is the only one of its kind. Further investigation is required.
