SCP-5139 before re-location to Site ██.

Item #: SCP-5139

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: Item SCP-5139 is to be kept inside of an empty, soundproof containment suite. Interviews with SCP-5139 are to be kept as a rare occurrence due to the anomalous properties of the item – Security personnel is always required to be stationed outside of the item’s containment suite to ensure no unauthorised interviews occur.
Interviews with SCP-5139 are not to be conducted without clearance from O4-█.

Description: SCP-5139 appears as a humanoid statue missing muscular tissue in various places and is formed completely out of siliceous stone. The statue is 2.32 meters in height and weighs 254kg including the base of the statue. The statue is placed on top of a base, however, is not directly attached in any form to said base, whereas this would indicate SCP-5139 may have the ability to move, such events have never been recorded.

Upon asking SCP-5139 a question, the SCP-5139 appears to harness the consciousness of a suitable person(s) who can accurately answer the question posed to SCP-5139. Once asked a question, SCP-5139 will then emit the voice of someone, somewhere, who holds the answer to the question posed. Regularly, voices emitting from SCP-5139 are dazed, confused, and come to the realisation they are unable to see, or move. Once the consciousness harnessed by SCP-5139 has answered the question correctly, they seem to vanish, likely returning to their original body. It is currently unknown what occurs to the consciousness’ body whilst attached to SCP-5139.

SCP-5139 has before shown the ability to inherit more than one consciousnesses at one given time, two people may not individually possess the answer to the posed question – however if they are combined by SCP-5139, only they would be able to discover the correct answer collectively. It is currently unknown how many consciousnesses SCP-5139 can harness, but the largest recorded amount is ██.

Asking SCP-5139 a question regarding, or involving SCP-5139 in any way will lead to SCP-5139 offering a response not about itself, but regarding the interviewer; SCP-5139 seems to reply to the interviewer with the interviewer’s own voice, and will tell them something they do not like about themselves. Often, SCP-5139 will remind the interviewer regarding some trauma they have experienced in their past, whether they are to blame for said trauma or not. After asking SCP-5139 a question about itself and receiving a reply regarding themselves; the interviewer always leaves SCP-5139’s containment suite with a cold feeling – as if they are unwelcome in the room.

Whether SCP-5139 is a sentient item is currently unknown, and no progress has been made in terms of discovering this; as it seems impossible to gain any information from SCP-5139 regarding itself.
SCP-5139 is currently kept within Hall ██ of Site ██, and all interviews have been cancelled.

Addendum 5139.1: SCP-5139 will offer no response to the interviewer if the following conditions are met:
• The interviewer tries to converse with SCP-5139 with anything other than a question.
• The interviewer asks a question that no human alive possesses the answer to.
• The interviewer asks a question they already know the answer to.

The following is one of few interviews conducted with SCP-5139, during the interview SCP-5139 harnessed only one consciousness.

Interviewed: SCP-5139

Interviewer: Dr. █████ Ballantine

[BEGIN LOG]

Dr. Ballantine: "SCP-5139, what is the current location of Dr. Maxwell ███████, a doctor who is believed to have fled the foundation?"

Rapid, panicked breathing and screaming, before the voice of a man with a raspy, terrified, half-muffled voice emerged from SCP-5139. The man appears to have a Russian accent.

SCP-5139: "Hello!?"

Dr. Ballantine: "Yes, hello? Who am I currently speaking to?"

SCP-5139: I can't see anything! I can't see! Please help me! I can— I can't move!? Why can't I move!?"

Dr. Ballantine: "Sir, to get you out of this you need to relax, please, it's alright."

SCP-5139: The man's breathing began to slow as he started to comply with Dr. Ballantine "Please.. please he..help me, my name is ██████████████ - How do I get out!?"

Dr. Ballantine: "Alright Mr. ███████, all you need to do is answer the question, what is the location of Maxwell ███████?"

SCP-5139: "That crazy old man!? He lives at ███████ ██████ █████, Glazov!"

Dr. Ballantine: "What country might that be in, Mr. ███████?"

SCP-5139: "Russia! Now please, how do I get o-" Mr. ███████ appears to depart from being embodied within SCP-5139.

Dr. Ballantine: "Mr ███████? Are you still with us?"

SCP-5139 made no response whatsoever.

Dr. Ballantine: "..Alright then, next question; SCP-5139, how were you created?"

SCP-5139 responded to Dr. Ballantine immediately with his own voice, speaking in a low, caliginous tone of voice.

SCP-5139: "You haven't forgotten when you failed to save your sole child from herself, have you Dr. Ballantine? You could have helped her with your social standing at the time, but you didn't, you let her leap from the one thing keeping her on the ground - you let her leap to her death from your balcony, your child - now why would you do that?"

Dr. Ballantine: "I..— You, that's n- I.." Dr. Ballantine reported post-interview he felt the inability to speak back to SCP-5139, and had a cold wave of anxiety, and guilt rush over him

Overseer: "Dr. Ballantine, please exit SCP-5139's confinement suite."

[END LOG]

Closing Statement: Dr. Ballantine described a feeling of unworthiness, and the mental inability to re-enter SCP-5139's confinement chamber for a few weeks post-interview. He made a full recovery some weeks after, with counselling sessions thrice a week with Dr. Grayson.
