This SCP must be contained in an Alcubierre Detention Matrix. The Detention Matrix creates a negative mass vacuum in between the SCP and the rest of reality, rendering it isolated. However, the distortion of space-time is highly costly, requiring exotic matter. Specifically, exotic matter with the properties necessary to actually warp space-time. This is yet to be found, and the technology of this caliber is thousands of years away. The only other way to secure oneself against its Subordination Radius is distance. The electrical interactions of machinery is collapsed by this, this thing. Humans are putty that it may mold. Nothing can stop it. God help us all.
Description:
SCP-001 (codename The Sycophant) was first discovered after an archaeological dig of the Chicxulub crater. Around 50 years ago, a team was dispatched to search for and identify possible anomalies derived from the meteor, hoping to find information about the origins of the meteor. Only recently, an anomaly was discovered. Instead, a small polyp that weighed about 7.3 kg with a diameter of about 9.4 inches was uncovered. This polyp had a thick clear membrane on the outside, and it was utterly immune to any bludgeoning or penetration. From underneath the membranous exterior, a faded green light emanated. It was later revealed that this organism emitted vibrations in a chaotic determination of frequency. Microscopic analysis Samples were taken, and after several failed tests it was determined that the basis of this organism was silicon, not carbon.
The scope of the properties of The Sycophant is endless, but SCP scientists have identified a principle that guides the abilities of this anomaly. SCP-001 corrupts stable systems into chaotic systems and is enriched by it. Several tests were performed (see addendum), and this hypothesis was confirmed. One of the most striking examples of this was the origin of its name. Scientists tasked with monitoring this SCP and being in close proximity were becoming noticeably neurotic, with diagnoses drastically off their baseline. Electroencephalograms were performed and the affected scientists had brain waves that were deteriorating into chaotic repetitions of frequencies. The previously stable scientists had rapidly declining mental states, despite their outward sedated mannerisms (hence the codename Sycophant).
Perhaps the most frightening implication of this SCP is its ability to torment reality. Previously, the laws of classical and quantum mechanics were thought definitive and absolute. Precedent is obliterated as this SCP defines what is and is not possible. When placed in close proximity with a decaying isotope of tritium, probability was misaligned (see addendum). The isotope decayed at random and chaotic intervals with random and chaotic percentages. Virtual particle exchanges were skewed, the square-cube law was off-kilter, everything was wrong. Expectations have now become a construct of the past. Even as I write this, my pathetic and insignificant humanity bleeds through. Nothing can fetter this parasite of cosmic proportions. I can feel its teeth gnawing on my beta waves, my motor cortex misfiring, my psyche decaying. The cruel purpose of existence is now apparent to me: bloodsport to this foul deity. My colleagues have been claimed and I am next. I fear for humanity…
Addendum:
Midnight Sonata Test:
One of the varieties of tests that this SCP underwent included playing music next to it. Midnight Sonata was played near this SCP, and after a period of 17 hours, an SCP scientist with perfect pitched reported an anomaly. The intonation of the notes in the music was alternating between intonations of A439.1, A44.1, so on and so forth. The pattern of this alternation was mapped and it was discovered that the previously stable system of sound waves was deteriorating into a chaotic procedure of intonations. The test was continued for another 58 hours, and the results demonstrated more and more outlying alternations. At the climax, the intonation had ranges of a hundred or more hertz in between each repetition. The pattern ended at 58:14:04 when the music stopped. There were no vibrations at that point. The polyp had corrupted the stable system into chaos and absorbed the ensuing instability. What else could this be applied to?
Authors Note:
The scientists responsible for the publication of the Midnight Sonata paper were discovered dead 2 weeks 3 days after the publishing date. The bodies of three were discovered by a janitor, as they were stuffed in a cleaning closet. The other two bodies were never found. An autopsy revealed that the three had high voltage electrodes embedded into their pineal gland. A lethal localized delivery of electrical current to the brain during deep brain stimulation was determined to be the cause of death.
