Description: SCP-XXXX appears to be a regular sleeping mask with no abnormalities from typical sleeping masks. SCP-XXXX is a standard black sleeping mask that is constructed of cloth and other fabrics. SCP-XXXX contains tags in an unidentifiable language, however, due to the similarities to other clothing accessories, it's assumed the tags state standard cleaning procedures and details about the item.
SCP-XXXX has been observed to possess cognitive abilities that affect subjects within a 6m distance. A subject within SCP-XXXX’s range will begin to experience fatigue and express a desire to take a nap. Prolonged exposure to SCP-XXXX will cause subjects to feel extreme exhaustion and have an irresistible desire to sleep. At this state subjects will insist on sleeping while wearing SCP-XXXX and proceed to sleep on the nearest softest surface. If no soft like surface suitable for sleeping is available subjects will go through extreme lengths to find one and become very hostile towards anything that attempts to prevent them from sleeping.
Subjects will then proceed to sleep for an abnormal amount of time, around up to 12 hours with visual disturbances whilst sleeping, including violent spontaneous movements randomly throughout the duration of sleep. Subjects have also been observed to become deceased after experiencing immediate cardiac arrest. This occurs most frequently in subjects. When subjects awake they do so in an instantaneous matter with little or no signs beforehand. Subjects have been observed to awake as early as 4 hours after having fallen asleep. It is most common that individuals awaken or become deceased around the 8+ hour period from when subjects initially began sleeping. This however, widely varies among subjects.
Each subject that awakes reacts uniquely, all expressing severe anxiety, paranoia, fear, and distress. Subjects have also been known to [DATA EXPUNGED] immediately after awakening by [DATA EXPUNGED]. Subjects typically begin to explain what they dreamt of, all of them describing similarities including a tall dark humanoid figure that haunted them throughout the duration of their dream. This will be referred to SCP-XXXX-1 and is to be acknowledged as a part of SCP-XXXX.
SCP-XXXX-1 is a dark, tall, and slender humanoid creature. SCP-XXXX-1 appears to have a behavioral routine it follows when prey is introduced into its domain. As described by subjects, SCP-XXXX-1 will gradually appear to its prey in a stalking manner, SCP-XXXX-1 has also been reported to ’toy’ with its victems while hunting them. SCP-XXXX-1 appears to find pleasure in causing its victems to experience fear or ’utter horror’ as stated by subjects. Why this occurs or why it does this is unknown. It is still up to debate whether SCP-XXXX is a means of accessing SCP-XXXX-1’s world or if SCP-XXXX-1 lives inside the dream SCP-XXXX produces. The correlation between SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX is unknown.

█: Look, I understand that this has been very difficult for you but I need to you to please comply wit— (pauses) Have…you slept at all since then?
D-20976 moves around uncomfortably in his chair.
D-20976: (Sigh) No…no I haven’t. Every time I close my eyes I see it…just staring…watching (pauses) always. I…I can’t go back to sleep…what if it-
D-20976 pauses abruptly, gasping while jumping in his seat.
█: Its alright, clam down, calm down. I’m going to start asking you some questions. I need you to attempt to answer them with the best of your ability, and try not to leave out details.
█: What exactly happened when you began sleeping?
D-20976: (Deep breath) I…I remember going to sleep…then it almost felt like an instant. I woke up again, but I wasn’t were I was originally… it was someplace else. (/Pauses)) I…I was in a dark room-
█: Could you describe the room to me please?
D-20976: (Agitated sigh) It…it was just a regular square room…nothing special about it…except—
A brief moment of silence.
D-20976: Except one of the doors… one of them was closed, but…the other one…it, it wasn’t shut. (Pauses)) It was slightly open… it was dark…it was so dark. I thought the room I woke up in was dark…no, outside the room, it was so…much…darker. ((Pauses and sighs)).
█: Please, continue.
D-20976: I… I wasn’t sure what was going on, I thought it was a bad dream, so I kept trying to wake myself up but… but I never woke up… no matter how hard I tried. I didn’t know what to do… I just thought it was a really, really odd dream…I tried to go back to sleep and just ignore it. (Pauses).
D-20976: That…That was when.
█: Perhaps we could pick this up another time when you’ve gotten some rest and you’re ready to-
D-20976: No! No…you need to know about this thing, no one…no one else can go through this! (Pauses while clenching fist)) I’m, I’m sorry…I…let’s continue.
█: Alright then, as you were.
D-20976: (Sighs) Right. That…that was when it first appeared (tenses up)). I heard pounding… it was…it was running towards me…it was so loud, I could hear it echoing through my head (grows agitated). It just ran closer and closer! (pauses and sighs) It…it stopped, but I could hear it…it stopped directly at the door…I just watched and watched waiting for something to happen but it was so still for so long. It…it was the most terrified I ever been in my life. (Sighs).
█: I see, did you see the…creature or what was making the noise? As well what did you do next?
D-20976: No…it didn’t reveal itself to me yet. I…(stares above █ and pauses standing up) oh…my…god. It’s…it’s here—
█: What’s the matter? (Looks around the room) I don’t see anything.
D-20976: —(panicked) I…I can hear it! It’s running towards me! It’s there! It’s there!—

█: There’s nothing there let me go!
D-20976: (Stares directly at █) It, it doesn’t want me to tell! I, It’s coming for me! Please-
