Dr. Oliver Arkans' Second Personal SCP File

Item #: SCP-173-J-2

Object Class: Euclid (Potentially Safe)

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-173-J-2 is to be contained inside a humanoid containment chamber at Site-42. The chamber is to furnished with a sincerely comfortable chair, a mirror and a plush toy of a lion (since SCP-173-J-2 seems to draw much comfort for it). It is advised that no personell, whatsoever, should stand close to SCP-173-J-2 for a long period of time since it makes unsettling "roaring" noises. This usually happens when you likely least expect it.

Though SCP-173-J-2 has been shown to be harmless at certain times, it is still advised that personell stand at least five (5) metres away from it. This is to avoid any potentially unwanted interaction or it's occasional, inexplicable bursts of loud, seemingly cartoonish, "roars." No other containment procedures have been required. This is because SCP-173-J-2 has shown no inclination toward its violent and destructive behaviour.

Note: Despite its similarity to SCP-173-J in appearance, it does not interact in the same way with people. Unlike SCP-173-J, which beheaves aggressively when unobserved, SCP-173-J-2 will remain motionless and unresponsive when under the direct observation of Foundation staff. However, it has been noticed that it engages and even playfully interacts with D-Class personell when they are introduced to its containment chamber.

Description: SCP-173-J-2 is a humanoid entity that clearly and closely resembles SCP-173-J and a more exaggerated apppearance. While SCP-173-J has a distinct feline face, SCP-173-J-2 has a lion-like face, featuring its oversixed, fluffy mane, a massive nose, and an expression that looks perpetually puzzled yet seemingly endearing. its eyes are large, round and strikingly cartoonish. Despite the intimidating nature of its appearance, SCP-173-J-2 behaves in a way that's more comical than threatening.

As with its predecessor, SCP-173-J-2 exhibits the unknown ability to move rapidly when unobserved, but usually this is accompanied by a "pounce", a low roar or an awkard meow, suggesting confusion on the subject at hand rather than aggression. SCP-173-J-2 does not exhibit any known ability to cause harm, though it does try to pounce on passing personell for reasons that remain unclear. its actions are believe dto be drieven from deep-seated desire towards attention and play, opposing to hosility.

A mirror was placed in SCP-173-J-2's containment chamber, as part of an initial test to observe the entity's behaviour. Contrary to expectations, it showed no reactin at all, to it's own reflection. It did not even attempt to whereas other animals might. Instead, it simply ignored the mirror entirely, possibly to busy attempted to adjust its mane, or at least pretending to be a lion in a very nonchalant and serious manner.

This further solidifies that its classification needs to be changed to Safe.

Discovery:

SCP-173-J-2 was discovered in Edinburgh, Scotland, on the 12/06/82, by the Foundation.

Addendum 3X81-B:
Dr. ███ has requested that the SCP Foundation look into developing a "Liontamer" training course,
to be able to properly interact with SCP-173-J-2. It is recommended that all staff personnel involved with the affairs of SCP-173-J-2, to be aware of its deep, complex emotional needs, including giving it a meal of steak twice a day, and being complimented on it's mane.
