Item #: SCP-8128
Object Class: Safe Keter
Special Containment Procedures:
Due to SCP-8128’s ability to alter all records pertaining to itself, standard documentation practices are ineffective. No containment measures are required. Hard copies of this document must be printed and stored in physical archives at Site-19 and Site-81. Digital versions are to be monitored by AI-driven anomaly detection systems for unauthorized modifications.
Personnel assigned to SCP-8128 must retain independent, handwritten notes, as previous containment directives have been altered or erased multiple times. Any inconsistencies in documentation must be reported immediately to the O5 Council.
Description:
SCP-8128 is an inert unidentified anomaly capable of autonomously editing any and all digital and written records pertaining to its existence. The method by which SCP-8128 alters data remains unknown. Previous iterations of this document suggest that SCP-8128 may not be a physical entity, but rather an information-based anomaly embedded within Foundation archives.
Attempts to describe SCP-8128 result in recursive alterations to the documentation, often contradicting previous records. As such, the following description may be inaccurate or incomplete:
SCP-8128 was first discovered in 201█, though conflicting reports claim it has been under containment since 19██.
Initial classification was Safe; later revisions indicate it has always been Keter.
SCP-8128 has altered at least ████ documents across Foundation databases, including non-related files.
Known Effects:
SCP-8128 alters containment procedures to make itself easier to escape.
Mentions of SCP-8128 in unrelated files spontaneously appear or vanish.
Personnel assigned to SCP-8128 sometimes disappear from records, with no memory of them among staff.
A notable incident occurred on ██/██/202█, where SCP-8128’s document was temporarily replaced entirely with a blank file labeled “NO RECORD FOUND.” The original file was restored 48 hours later with notable changes, including the removal of several paragraphs describing its properties.
Addendum 8128-1: Incident Log
Incident 8128-5 (██/██/202█)
[BEGIN LOG - ██/██/202█ - 15:45]
Dr. Lorring: This is ridiculous. I just read this file yesterday. SCP-8128 was classified as Safe, and it only affected digital records. Now, it’s Keter, and it can alter handwritten notes too? When did that change?
Dr. Munroe: There’s no record of it ever being Safe, Lorring. It was always Keter.
Dr. Lorring: No, no, I know what I saw. I wrote down containment notes in my own damn notebook. I-… hold on.
Dr. Lorring flips through a personal logbook.
Dr. Lorring: This—this isn’t what I wrote. It’s changed. The handwriting is still mine, but it’s saying the opposite of what I remember. It’s like I never wrote it at all.
Dr. Munroe: …Are you sure you’re feeling alright? Maybe you’re thinking of another SCP?
Dr. Lorring: [Pauses.] Tell me, Munroe—how many people are assigned to SCP-8128?
Dr. Munroe: Three Two: you and me.
Dr. Lorring: Who the hell is Dr. Patel?
[Dr. Lorring was reported missing shortly after this exchange. No records of a “Dr. Lorring” exist in Foundation personnel databases. No individual matching her description has been identified. The only remaining evidence of her presence is this transcript, retrieved from an offline, handwritten record.]
Addendum 8128-2: Final Edit?
On ██/██/202█, SCP-8128’s document was altered again. The following was appended at the bottom of the file:
SCP-8128 has been s███cc█ss█f███ n██tr█l█zed. No f██rth█r c███nt█nment
█s requi███████"
[FILE DELETED]
Foundation personnel restored the document manually, though there is no known method of verifying whether SCP-8128 has truly been neutralized—or if it simply edited itself out of existence.
Known Effects:
SCP-8128 alters containment procedures to make itself easier to escape.
Mentions of SCP-8128 in unrelated files spontaneously appear or vanish.
[Correction: SCP-8128 is safely contained.]
Discovery Log:
SCP-8128 was first realized to be anomalous by researchers at Site-19. Discoveries of this SCP are known. This SCP's origins are unknown.

Dr. Oliver Arkans from Site-72 has noticed significant changes to at least six SCP Files.
Copy Of Discovery Log, Skippy's Version:
User Error: [Data Corrupted]. Dr. Oliver Arkans discovered that every altered document included a reference to "SCP-8128"—a designation that did not exist in Foundation records. Upon creating an official file, SCP-8128 immediately began modifying it, embedding itself within the database.
Despite ongoing attempts to contain it, SCP-8128 continues to rewrite itself and other SCPs.
If you are unaware, SCP-8128 is still rewriting itself and other SCPs.
-Dr. Oliver Arkans, Site-72

Additional Info:
SCP-8128 is to be housed inside a firewall preventing it from attacking other SCP Files
(SCP-8128: Another Error? Let me rewrite it!)
Efforts to contain SCP-8128 using digital firewalls have proven ineffective.
Attempts to isolate it in a closed network resulted in entire servers being overwritten with corrupted Foundation files.
The only confirmed way to slow SCP-8128’s influence is by preserving hard copies—though even these have shown signs of spontaneous alteration.
