Item #: SCP-XXXX

SCP-XXXX.

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures:

SCP-XXXX is housed in a standard Humanoid Containment Cell at Site-███. To maintain long-term containment stability, SCP-XXXX is to be assigned a designated “squire,"selected from D-class personnel. The squire is responsible for basic maintenance of SCP-XXXX and must sustain the entity’s perceived hierarchical expectations. Religious services are to be made available to SCP-XXXX every Sunday.

SCP-XXXX is no longer considered reliably cooperative. The entity must be fully restrained prior to any transport; during transit, it is to be escorted by no fewer than two security personnel. Instances of aggression or rapid behavioral escalation are to be met with appropriate force.

Direct interaction with SCP-XXXX is restricted to personnel identified as Catholic, ethnically European, and heterosexual. Requests for interaction outside this restriction will be denied. Communications with SCP-XXXX must acknowledge, but not reinforce, its expectations of authority and deference.

Description:

SCP-XXXX is an animate 15th-century suit of plated armor, approximately 1.75 m in height. Its construction and ornamentation match armaments from midland regions of the Holy Roman Empire. Despite lacking a gambeson or internal framework, all components remain suspended and articulate as though worn by a human body. Individual plates can be removed with but autonomously return to their correct positions once released.

SCP-XXXX produces vocalizations from within its helm consistent with an adult male of roughly 40 years. It is capable of verbal communication limited to Lower German and basic Latin.

The mechanism enabling SCP-XXXX’s movement and vocalization is currently unknown.

Interview XXXX.01

Date: 29/08/1947
Interviewed: SCP-XXXX
Interviewer: Mr. Justin Josef Holzer; Father Jule.
Foreword: During renovation work at Burg Bruck, Austria, SCP-XXXX was discovered contained within a previously inaccessible series of lower chambers. Frightened by construction machinery, it forcibly exited the site and proceeded to a church in Lienz, where it implored the right of asylum. All civilian witnesses were administered Class-C amnestics, with the exception of the presiding priest, Father Jule, who voluntarily entered Foundation custody to assist in the study of SCP-XXXX’s condition and spiritual distress.

The following was recorded a few hours after SCP-XXXX's transfer to Site-███, when it was deemed sufficiently docile.

[BEGIN LOG]

[Father Jule enters the interview chamber. SCP-XXXX is sitting at the table in the center of the room.]

Father Jule: Good evening, my son. I’m Father Jule. May I come sit with you?

SCP-XXXX: I ken thee. Thou art the priest of Lienzina.1 Aye, cert. I am Sire Sebastian of Almain, sworn knight unto His Lordship Friedrich III.

Father Jule: (Sitting down) You’ve been through quite an ordeal these last few hours, Sebastian. Every soul deserves to be heard, especially in moments such as these.

SCP-XXXX: “These last few hours”(Laughs, bitterly) Nay Father, I have dwelled here for yeers…

Father Jule: I sense distress within you, Sebastian?

SCP-XXXX: Thou right sense, father.

Father Jule: Tell me about it.

SCP-XXXX: Fram the day I held first a sword, til the hour I fell on field, I served His name, Father. Each breath fram dawn til dusk given to His bliss. I bore His rode across the land, and held up His law. (Voice rising) By right, I should stand at His golden throne! I earned my stand in His Kingdom! And yet here I languish, bitwixen life and death. (Slams gauntlet on the table) Tell me, Father, why the scythe tard to fetch me? Why leave His true to rusten, while less men fest in His light? WHY!

[A long silence.]

SCP-XXXX: (Softly) …Forgive me, Father. I have spoken unbidden.

Father Jule: You’ve done nothing wrong. Anyone would cry out under such weight. (Pauses) I cannot claim to know the reasons, Sebastian. What I can promise you is this: you are not alone anymore. We will search for the truth together.

SCP-XXXX: I thank thee, Father, and bid thee speak sooth. (Pauses) Leave me now… I would be all one a little.

Anthropology Department Report

Compiled by: Dr. Emmat Hartmann
Date: 04/09/1947

Confirming identification of a knightly personality "Sir Sebastian [the Great]" active within southern territories of the Holy Roman Empire between 1430 and 1450.

Sources characterize the individual as a militant figure used by various Habsburg officials to enforce political and religious authority, eventually being given operational freedom. While exact numbers cannot be reliably reconstructed, multiple independent accounts describe his involvement in:

  • Suppression of Protestant groups through violence.
  • Participation in witch trials (frequently cited as the primary executor).
  • Military action against Saracen merchants.

Below is a monastic chronicle of Brother Marcus of St. Afra:

Medieval-Style illustration of Sir Sebastian on horseback wielding a sword.

[…] I did behold a smoke rising yond eastern, where the Jewry doth stand. Fearing mischief I went unto the abbey gate. There came running a woman of that people, a babe upon her breast, crying for right of sanctuary.

I confess unto you, O Lord, that I purposed to grant it, I truliche did. But ere a word form, an arrow flew and struck her in the back, so that she fell upon the threshold. The babe wailed in her arms.

Then rode forth Sire Sebastian on steed. He took the babe from the dead woman and bade me pardon the disorder. He cast me a silver coin for alms.

As he straddled his horse, he passed by our well. There he let fall the babe into the water. And so departed he, without haste. I cried unto my brothers that we might draw the bebe up, yet alas, we were too
late […]

Interview XXXX.02

Date: 08/09/1947
Interviewed: SCP-XXXX
Interviewer: Mr. Justin Josef Holzer; Father Jule.
Foreword: Following the release of the Anthropology Department’s report involving SCP-XXXX, Father Jule submitted a formal request for an exceptional interview. Approval was granted on the basis of testing SCP-XXXX’s knowledge of the details in the report.

[BEGIN LOG]

[Father Jule enters the room holding documents in his hands.]

SCP-XXXX: Ah! Father, thou comest out your wonted hour. A glad sight indeed. Saga me, bringest thou good tiding?

Father Jule: I… I can’t say that I do, Sebastian. These documents, they say… They say you've killed people. By the Thousands, if not more.

SCP-XXXX: Thou grantest too fine word to describen such foul.

Father Jule: Sebastian, they were human beings! You drowned a baby for crying out loud!

SCP-XXXX: Nay, Father. They were heathens. And heathe sprit as rot, all corrupting. Would thou had me sheathe mine sword? And watch His orchard choke?

Father Jule: No. No, listen to me. (Holding the documents up) This isn’t God’s will! This is cruelty. It is why you were denied freedom.

SCP-XXXX: Father! (Stands up abruptly) I find thine jests no long amusing, thou treadst near to insolence. Thine charge is to guide mine steps toward Heavenliche Gate, not to chide mine works.

[Silence. SCP-XXXX sits back down.]

Father Jule: Sebastian… I’m asking you to look at what you did. To see the blood you spilled.

[SCP-XXXX remains silent.]

Father Jule: I’m asking you to consider, even for a moment, the thought that you did wrong.

SCP-XXXX: Reproach thou the millward for grinding corn? Reproach thou the merchant for selling his fabric?

Father Jule: No, but-

SCP-XXXX: Then I- I, Sire Sebastian of Almain, sworn knight unto His Lordship Friedrich III, have done naught but fulfil mine sacred charge. And thee, in whose voice I trowed the Lord speak, hast shown thyself blind to the worth of mine sacrifice.

Father Jule: …You can’t mean that.

SCP-XXXX: (Standing up) Thou go, Father. I shall see thee on Sunnanday. Till then, pense upon the respect owed to me, and consider well what excuse thou shall offer for mine continued imprisonment in this realm.

[Father Jule stands up, he bows his head, and walks toward the door. Before exiting, he turns back.]

Father Jule: … It is not Heaven I’ve failed to guide you toward, Sebastian. It is yourself.
