Special containment procedures
Scp-8171, also known as The Oil Rig, cannot be contained as scp-8171 constantly moves. Tracking devices placed on the oil rig have failed to track scp-8171 movement. Instead, scp-8171 must be followed by a small fleet of 2 cruisers, 1 destroyer and 1 submarine. All ships must have constant radar and visual observation on the scp-8171 as scp-8171 can evade any modern warship radar and speed.
scp-8171 also is shrouded by a thick fog called scp-8171-1 making it hard to have visual and radio contact, scp personnel must use water and fogproof binoculars and marine thermal night vision to have visual contact on scp-8171. Under no circumstances must any ship, aircraft or humans have physical contact with scp-8171 to prevent it from consuming and releasing an EMP (Electromagnetic pulse). Warships must have EMP countermeasures and move as fast as possible to exit the 2-mile radius, only after 2 hours can the fleet follow scpP-8171. The fleet must have a 1-mile distance from scp-8171.
Scp-8171 must have a 2-mile “Restriction Zone” to ensure unauthorised aircraft or ships enter, ships or aircraft entering the zone must be given a warning. Any aircraft or ship refusing the warning must be terminated along with any survivors. All SOS signals from scp-8171 must be ignored and signal-blocked to ensure SOS does not reach any Coast Guard or nearby ships or aircraft.
If scp-8171 starts to shapeshift to its original form, Personnel on the Fleet must be reported to command at site-███.
⚠ WARNING: Under no circumstance should scp foundation personnel enter scp-8171-1 and/or scp-8171. Personnel being found disobeying policy will be TERMINATED. ⚠
Description:
Scp-8171 is an Oil Rig that does not belong to any country or corporation and has no name. Scp-8171 resembles a standard oil rig yet is constantly moving. Scp-8171 is considered a sentient being and consumes from aircraft, ships and humans.
Evidence indicates that scp-8171 is more than an oil rig and could potentially be an entity that is shapeshifted as an oil rig. Evidence such as roars, breathing within the structures and the need for consuming indicates that scp-8171 is alive. Drone footage within scp-8171 shows large organs at the lower levels of the rig, only 2 organs have been found one being a stomach organ but rather than break down food it stores it for later use and another unknown organ which is believed to take the nutrients from the food.
It is unknown if scp-8171 can be damaged with modern weaponry nor what is the original form of scp-8171. It is also unknown how scp-8171 has created and controls scp-8171-1.
Scp-8171 consumes by releasing highly concentrated Fluoroantimonic acid, depending on the size of the object the rate of consumption increases or decreases, for example, a human will take 5 minutes to burn and kill, then 3-4 minutes to consume while a metal large metal object will take 15 minutes to dissolve. Scp-8171 method of consuming ships is by using pipes and bridges to penetrate the ship and pull it within itself, this is where the entity pours Fluoroantimonic acid to cover the ship and dissolve it for consumption.
The primary reason for consumption is for survival, and converting the object to electric currents to release an EMP to capture and consume more prey. Once scp-8171 has finished consuming it releases a 2-mile EMP which stops all nearby vessels, when this happens scp-8171 moves at speeds up to 20 knots to consume the nearby vessels.
Scp-8171 origins are unknown, it was first cited and reported on 1/7/2012 by a group of oil rig workers on the oil rig Poseidon located in the North Sea which went missing 2 hours later due to a loss of contact most likely due to scp-8171-1. SCP-8171 was later found and spotted by a group of local fishermen on 2/7/2012 near the coast of Iceland. The fishermen heard an SOS signal coming from scp-8171 and attempted to come in contact with the Coast Guard, but due to them being within scp-8171-1 all attempts failed, and the group of fishermen went to provide help. When entering the rig, the group of fishermen attempted to find the workers but after an hour of searching no life was found.
The fishermen started to feel sudden pain in their legs when noticing the floor was oozing Fluoroantimonic acid which led to the fishermen's feet being chemically burned it was then reported during an interview that the entity started to attack the group by using the parts of the oil rig such as the pies, the group of fishermen are presumed to be chemically burned alive and then consumed by scp-8171. Two of the fishermen managed to escape scp-8171 by falling into the ocean below, they passed out and were found at the shoreline with scp-8171 disappeared. Out of the two survivors, only one survived.
An autopsy report done by scp personnel on the dead fishermen shows that the rate of burning done by the acid is 10x faster than normal, it can fully burn and kill the victim within 5 minutes. Chemical burn marks are found on the feet, hands, arms, inner and outer thighs, heavy burns on the left calf and mild burns on the right calf.
Scp personnel worked with the government of Iceland to cover up the incident. Personnel of the foundation located scp-81715 miles away site-███. The foundation personnel sends a team of scientists and MTF to research and secure scp-8171. The mission was a failure.
Addendum:
scp 8171 | also referred to as the FOG is a thick layer of fog that covers scp-8171 for 1 mile in all directions. When entering SCP-8171-1 the victim would be hit by heavy waves and rain, if in air winds up to 40 knots would hit the aircraft leading to major structural damage. Scp-8171-1 also prevents any signals entering or leaving other than the SOS signal from scp-8171. When the victim gets closer to scp-8171 the storm created by scp-8171-1 gets more violent, this is done to force the victim to seek safety at scp-8171 which will then lead to the suffering and ultimate demise of the victim. |

Interviewee: ██ ████████
Interviewer: Dr. ████████
Notes: The following interview is between ██ ████████ and Dr.████████ about the 2/7/2012 incident also known as the Fisherman incident.
[Begin log]
Dr. ████████ : Please introduce yourself.
██ ████████ : My… my name is ██ ████████.
Dr. ████████ : would you mind telling me what happened to you and your group on the 2nd of July 2012?
██ ████████ : I and my friends were going out fishing when we heard on the radio an SOS from the oil rig. By the time fog was covering us, we tried to contact the coast guard, but…
[At this point ██ ████████ was starting to hyperventilate and start to cry primarily due to post-traumatic stress disorder due to the incident.]
Dr. ████████ : please try to calm down, i understand it is hard, but we need to understand what happened on that day.
██ ████████ : I…I am sorry, *clears throat* since we didn’t get a response from the Coast Guard and the waves getting worse, we went to the rig to attempt the rescue ourselves. *Starts to take deep breaths*.
Dr. ████████ : it's alright take your time.
██ ████████ : we entered the fog and as we got closer the weather got worse and worse, it got to the point where we would have wave 40ft high waves crashing onto our boat, honestly, I don't know how we survived that part of the journey. After I believe it was 40 minutes of fighting with the waves we reached the rig and started to board it. *starts to sob*
Dr. ████████ : *gives a tissue* here please continue.
██ ████████ : we…um after we um boarded the rig we split up into 2 groups of 3 and explored the rig, we tried to find anybody but after almost 2 hours of searching we found nobody we met at the bridge near the lifeboats, that's when…
Dr. ████████ : that's when what?
██ ████████ : that's when my shoes started to melt. I…I know it sounds weird but our shoes started to melt and I…I could smell the rubber from the shoe, it was horrible.
Dr. ████████ : your shoes were melting? do you have them?
██ ████████ : um…yea, I have it *points at shoes* here.
Dr. ████████ : *picks up shoes* the sole is missing.
██ ████████ : Yeah whatever liquid was on the rig it melted my shoe and started burning my feet.
Dr. ████████ : I see, may I keep them?
██ ████████ : Sure go ahead.
Dr. ████████ : Thank you *clears throat* please continue.
Enier ████████ From there the rig started to attack us.
Dr. ████████ : Attack you?
██ ████████ : yea the pipes started to attack us…it pinned my friends and..and *covers the face and breathes heavily* I had to jump and escape I…I saw my friend ████████ jump with me but…but he…he fucking died. *sobs*
Dr. ████████ : I am sorry for the loss. I will end this interview now, thank you for your time.

Notes: The purpose of the test is to see the impact of scp-8171 on the human body. Personnel is a group of 3 men with a camera, flashlights and night vision to conduct the test. Personnel are transported to scp-8171 via a classified submarine. D-class personnel are not expected to survive.
Begin audio tape
(the tape starts as the personnel boards scp-8171)
D-2218: FUCKING HELL! we are thrown here and not even given some fucking raincoats.
D-1132: well look on the bright side we just need to take some footage and we can get out of here.
D-2218: Bright side my ass what is this place anyway?
D-4211: It's an oil rig.
D-1132: It doesn't matter just start that dam camera and let's explore this place, here take the night vision.
D-2218: yea yea whatever let's just do this shit.
(the D-class personnel starts to explore the upper decks of scp-8171)
D-2218: I AM SO GOD DAM WET!
D-1132: hey hold the camera straight.
D-2218: FUCK OF MAN THIS SHIT IS SO GOD DAM ASS.
D-4211: hey I think I found a do— *sound of metal crashing on the D-4211* AAAHHHHH FUCK HELP!
D-2218: HOLY SHIT.
D-1132: OH GOD.
D-4211: AH AH AHHH MY…MY FACE BURN AHHH ITS BURNING.
D-1132: SHIT HELP ME *starts to push the metal pipe on D-4211* GOD DAMMIT HELP ME!
D-4211: AH AHH ah ah—- *D-4211 dies from shock footage shows the speed of the acid burning the skin and tissues of his face*
D-2218: he's…he's dead ah, SHIT MY SHOES ARE FUCKING MELTING.
D-1132: let's get out of here. there is a door let go in there.
D-2218: NO LETS GO BACK TO SUB.
D-1132: THOSE BASTARDS LEFT US WE NEED TO FIND A COVER YOU IDIO— AHH AHAH MY FEET *slips* AHH I BURNING EVERYWHERE, ITS ON MY FACE I CAN'T SEE
(D-1132 gets up and stumbles towards railings over seeing the lower levels of the rig, the railing grab D-1132)
D-1132: WHAT THE FUCK, SOMETHING IS HOLD ME *the railing pulls D-1132 and he falls to the lower levels* HEELLLP MMEEE AHHHHHH *a loud thud can be heard*
D-2218: what is happening AH shit my feet it's burning.
(D-2218 starts to run back to the boarding area where he jumps of the ledge.)
End of audio tape
The test conducted was a success. No body was found of D-2218 but the recording and the audio tape were found near the shoreline of site-███ Video footage does help to give an idea of the effects of scp-8171, the speed of the killing and the consumption rate of scp-8171.
Zule-1 incident:
On 10/7/2012 a group of scp personnel including a researcher and a Task force █████ led by Dr.█████ attempted an aerial approach to scp-8171 by using a Sikorsky CH-53E Super Stallion. After entering scp-8171-1 the helicopter faced strong turbulence and crashed on scp-8171. It is unknown if there were survivors of the crash, but all attempts to rescue were cancelled due to the accident. It is presumed that Dr.█████ and any other personnel are dead. When rescue teams managed to board scp-8171 no bodies were found. 4 hours after the rescue teams returned to the site-███ the helicopter was consumed by scp-8171.
