SCP-8691-HE WHO CONQUERS INSANITY... (Splash_On_Paws)
rating: 0+x

Item #: SCP-8691

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: SCP 8691 is to be kept in a steel room, with a minimum of four (4) level 3 or above security personnel guarding all entrances. No persons shall be admitted into the room unless for testing or with approval from O5. SCP 8691 is to be kept in the same room as SCP 8690, as all attempts to separate them have caused personnel deaths or severe mental incapacitation.

Description: SCP 8691 is a leather-covered book with very little wear. Gold letters emblazoned on the cover, written in an ancient dialect similar to Latin, translate to “The one who conquers insanity…” On the back cover of the book, similar letters to the ones on the front are found, although unable to be translated.
SCP 8691 has been found to cause mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, mental deterioration, and other mental instability.

Addendum: 8691.1 - Effects
Personnel subject to the SCP’s effect have been shown to demonstrate behaviors of insanity, mental instability, anxiety, depression, and other associated behaviors. However, subjects with a relatively stable and strong mental capacity (SCP-8691-c) have been shown to tolerate these effects. Instead, they may experience dreams of SCP-8691-b, be plagued by thoughts of SCP-8691-b, and at the final stage, be teleported into SCP-8691-b. [SEE ADDENDUM 8691.2 FOR DETAILS]

Addendum: 8691.2 - SCP-8691-b
SCP-8691-b(Evil’s Haven) is a dimension only accessible through SCP 8690 or by touching SCP-8691-c(sometimes called “Conqueror”) when they are teleported to Evil’s Haven. SCP-8691-b has been described as a “fiery hellscape” as well as having been noted to contain all of the SCP-001 proposals.

Addendum: 8691.3 - Test Log
Test 1: June 1, █████
A middle-aged male with no known mental incapabilities and average mental strength is told to pick up SCP-8691.
Results:
The man feels nothing at first but then suffers a severe headache. Later, he begins to hallucinate and reports a “feeling of dread.” He ends up developing schizophrenia and dies (DATA EXPUNGED)

Test (2): June 26, █████
A teenager who is exceptionally smart and has strong mental capabilities is instructed to try to “talk” to SCP-8691.
Results:
The teen reports nothing, but then dreams of a “hellish dimension.” He is brought in for more testing a week later. Subject ends up teleporting to SCP-8691-b with a Level 4 researcher monitoring the room

Test 3: September 2, █████
An older woman is brought in.
Results:
Subject reports a headache right away, then later develops a strange rage that causes her to exhibit destructive behaviors. She is removed by security personnel, and later reports she “can’t think.”

Test 4: September 29, █████
A group of ten men and women are brought in
Results:
Each subject seems to be affected. Many have developed headaches and hallucinations. However, one subject in particular seems to have been able to withstand said effects, later being teleported into SCP-8691-b.

FURTHER TESTING HAS BEEN STOPPED BY O5 ORDER
