Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: The perimeter of █████ Hospital is to be patrolled by three (3) armed security personnel at all times to prevent trespassers from accessing SCP-XXXX. Trespassers caught attempting to access SCP-XXXX are to be interrogated, administered Class-A amnestics, and released. The hallway windows adjacent to SCP-XXXX’s doorway have been sealed to prevent the light emanating from SCP-XXXX from leaking outside of █████ Hospital’s perimeter. SCP-XXXX shall be accessed only when testing and must only be entered by Class-D personnel. Class D-personnel will be sourced from Site-137’s pool of available D-class prior to monthly terminations/reassignment. Personnel occupying the wing adjacent to SCP-XXXX are to be evacuated before the doors to wing █ are opened to prevent accidental exposure to SCP-XXXX-2. Security personnel escorting D-class subjects to SCP-XXXX must be of atheistic belief and are required to wear light-filtering goggles whenever SCP-XXXX’s main access doorway is opened. While SCP-XXXX-2 is hazardous when directly viewed and as such no direct visual exposure is permitted, video footage of SCP-XXXX-2 poses no danger. Two cameras are placed on the wall adjacent to SCP-XXXX’s doorway for direct observation and shall only be used when testing SCP-XXXX.

Description: SCP-XXXX is nursing ward room █ in wing █ of █████ Hospital, located in █████, ███████████. SCP-XXXX is composed of two items, designated SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2. SCP-XXXX-1 is the room itself, measuring 10 x 15 x 4.5 meters, and is lined with pristine white tiles despite the rest of the hospital undergoing moderate to severe disrepair. Six █████████ brand hospital beds are located inside SCP-XXXX. Six fluorescent lights encased in aluminum housings are located on the ceiling of the room. Said tiles, beds, linens, and light fixtures are unable to be damaged and/or removed by any means and no objects attached using adhesives adhere to any surfaces. The door to SCP-XXXX-1 is missing and any attempts to replace it have failed as the replacement door dematerializes the moment the door is closed. SCP-XXXX-1 is constantly illuminated by the overhead fluorescent lights, designated SCP-XXXX-2, despite the wing SCP-XXXX is located not connected to any working electricity source. Direct obstruction of SCP-XXXX-2 by covering the lamps results in the offending material being incinerated despite the fluorescent tubes only reaching 95.5°C1 on thermal scans. Seeing this light compels anyone with a strong religious belief, regardless of whichever belief system they adhere to, to enter SCP-XXXX and inflict severe physical harm upon themselves until they are close to death, usually as a result of exsanguination2, in which they will rest themselves atop any of the six beds inside SCP-XXXX-1. Religious people who see the light but are not zealous in their beliefs are still compelled to enter SCP-XXXX-1 but do not harm themselves upon entering and are rendered immobile until the end of SCP-XXXX’s Active State in which they regain full body control.

SCP-XXXX enters its Active State whenever a person of strong religious faith enters cardiac arrest while resting atop any of the six beds (now designated SCP-XXXX-A). This is accompanied by a sharp increase in ambient Akiva radiation inside SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX’s Active State has three stages:

  • Stage 1: Once SCP-XXXX-A enters cardiac arrest, they will either stand up beside the bed or sit atop it, seeming full of renewed vitality and vigor. Audio recorded from this stage indicates that the SCP-XXXX-A instance/s are greeting someone that is expecting them although no such person will be seen by any outside observer (referred to as SCP-XXXX-B). Audio recording equipment placed inside the room will only record light static whenever an SCP-XXXX-A instance expects an answer from SCP-XXXX-B.
  • Stage 2: The SCP-XXXX-A instance/s will narrate their life experiences. This stage typically lasts between 18-150 minutes in which SCP-XXXX-A will be judged by SCP-XXXX-B after SCP-7137-A has stopped narrating their life’s story. (Some SCP-XXXX-A will also divulge long-kept secrets and transgressions during this stage that has helped in solving at least ██ unresolved local police cases and helpe[REDACTED]ocal Foundation efforts.)
  • Stage 3: SCP-XXXX-A will react to the “judgment” given by SCP-XXXX-B and depending on said judgment, SCP-XXXX-A will either experience an overwhelming sense of calm or lash out in denial and rage. This culminates in SCP-XXXX-A disappearing from the room in a flash of bright light leaving only ashes of differing colors, primarily yellow-white or black with a tinge of red, depending on the judgment given. GPS trackers attached to SCP-XXXX-A prior to initiation of Active State will fail at the moment SCP-XXXX-A starts to glow.

SCP-XXXX’s Active State ends once all SCP-XXXX-A in the room disappear at the conclusion of Stage 3. The significance of the color of the ash that remains after an active phase is yet to be determined.

Addendum XXXX-1: Discovery: Site-137 was alerted to SCP-XXXX’s existence when embedded Foundation agents in the local █████ City Police Department received reports of a Catholic priest that “went mad and exploded” during a Blessing ceremony on ██/██/20██. MTF Iota-10 (Damn Feds) was dispatched to acquire the hospital from its previous owners, amnesticize persons involved in said ceremony, and placed a secure perimeter around it. MTF Iota-10 suffered █ casualties until SCP-XXXX’s containment procedures were enacted. Upon further investigation by local agents, it was revealed that SCP-XXXX was connected to the disappearance of ██ construction workers and ██ other people in the last 14 months prior to SCP-XXXX’s discovery which was explained as being casualties during the hospital’s construction. Local news outlets were given the cover story that the recently-placed computer tomography (CT) scan machine inside the X-ray department has malfunctioned and was leaking radiation necessitating complete lockdown and strict security of the hospital. Witnesses that have recounted seeing SCP-XXXX’s Active State have been tracked and given Class-B amnestics and all records of their testimonies expunged from police records. After Iota-10’s acquisition and the enactment of containment procedures, break-ins to █████ Hospital have decreased significantly.

Addendum XXXX-3: Witness testimony: On ██/██/20██, an interview with an Active State witness tracked via police records was conducted.

Interviewed: Robert ███████ (subsequently Robert)

Interviewer: Site-137 Medibay head, Dr. P████████

Note: Robert ███████ is an associate of Mark ██████, one of the last persons tracked to have gone missing in SCP-XXXX before Foundation acquisition.
<Begin log, skip to 00h-03m-41s>

Dr. P████████: Now, Robert, can you tell me what you saw in the white room?

Robert: I don’t recall how we ended up inside that room exactly. We were just supposed to go to a nearby all-you-can-eat buffet place as one of our friends just got back from outside the country.

Dr. P████████: Go on.

Robert: Mark said he saw a light from that forsaken hospital as we were walking to the buffet place. He said we should check it out despite the rest of us not wanting to go there. Mind you, the place had no security and no one batted an eye to some guys trespassing a hospital under construction.

Robert: Suddenly, we found ourselves inside the hospital, just a bit before the entrance to that room. I cannot recall entering the gate, let alone inside. Mark has already entered the room by that point from what we could hear. We continued to follow Mark so we could leave the hospital.

Robert: When we reached the room itself, the light became overwhelming. My eyes felt like they were going to burst. When I pulled myself to look inside again, I saw that the room was completely white. The light reflecting off of everything.

Dr. P████████: This Mark… He’s the one to disappear, yes? Can you tell me more about him?

Robert: Mark was a good guy and a devout Christian. He would always go to church on Sundays and always carried a rosary on him at all times. He would always volunteer for and activity the church would hold like donation drives and whatnot. Sometimes, it would be difficult for us to even convince him to join us for some fun and revelry because he’d rather spend his time reading church-related articles online…

Robert begins to sob at this point. Dr. P████████ is seen scribbling on her clipboard.

Dr. P████████: Robert, please continue.

Robert: Oh, y-yes… But when we caught up to him inside that room, there were other people in there with Mark lying on top of a bed while another man was on top of the adjacent bed with his arm dangling from the side of the bed. One more person was in another bed bleeding out like crazy… We tried to go inside the room to grab Mark and convince him to leave but once we entered the room, we froze in our tracks and stopped as if some force was preventing us from interfering with what the hell was going on. We just stood there, not knowing what to do…

Robert sighs and takes a deep breath.

Dr. P████████: Tell me what happened next.

Robert: Then… Then Mark stood up… He had wounds on the sides of his neck, blood pouring out like twin waterfalls. He was facing us but he didn’t acknowledge our presence there, his eyes glazed over. Mark was smiling… and I hated how cold he looked… He also proceeded to talk to someone that wasn’t in the room, probably the same man that the other guy was talking to because of what Mark was saying… Mark told the person that he may be young but he tried his best to live the life God wanted him to live. At that point…

Robert began to cry at this point. Dr. P████████ then urged Robert to continue with his account of events.

Robert: At that point, Mark began to glow the same way as the other guy did. We desperately tried to scream for Mark to snap out of it but it felt like our voices were being drowned out. Mark… When the light consumed him, I saw Mark standing beside a silhouette of man standing near a podium of some sort… He then disappeared as well… We… We couldn’t save him…

Robert cries for a minute and thirty-nine seconds before regaining his composure. Dr. P████████ urges him again to continue his story.

Dr. P████████: And the third person? What happened to him?

Robert: The third guy… Uh-he stood a while later after Mark disappeared… But he was different from them. He started talking normally but his tone shifted to a very arrogant one the longer he talked. Then his eyes narrowed and he began to be afraid, like a primal fear has crept in.

Dr. P████████ looks directly at Robert, her hands firmly grasping the clipboard and pen.

Robert: He began lashing out loud and shouting “No, not there! Anywhere but there!” at the invisible person. He also began to glow but this time it was a deep red glow and he was billowing black smoke from his nose and mouth. I was fearful of what was to come next but none of us can move and we were forced to see the third guy’s agony unfold.

Robert: At this point, someone in white ran up to the already raving mad man. They appeared to be a nurse wearing white scrubs and when they laid their hands on the guy, he flashed a deep red and vanished. He left black ash unlike the first guy and Mark. The nurse… The nurse froze in their place after that and began panicking. They then shouted and… And… We all blacked out…

Robert: When we all came to, the nurse was lying on the floor, twitching and writhing, face distorted beyond recognition and blood oozing from every orifice. I suddenly felt my body jolt and I realized we can move again. Me and my friends pulled ourselves together and made a beeline to the nearest exit out of the hospital. We weren’t okay for the next few weeks after that…

Robert proceeds to cry once more with Dr. P████████ attempting to calm him down.

<Extraneous data removed for brevity.>3

Dr. P████████: I think that concludes today’s interview. Thank you, Robert, for your cooperation.

<End Log>

As the interview with the other witnesses provided similar results to the initial interview, Robert ███████ and his colleagues were given Class-B amnestics and were subsequently let go from Foundation custody following the interviews. No “woman in white scrubs” has been seen by D-class used to test SCP-XXXX since Foundation acquisition.

Addendum XXXX-4: “While SCP-XXXX-2’s light affects everyone with a strong religious belief, the effect seems to be stronger and more pronounced on subjects that adhere to the three Abrahamic faiths as opposed to polytheistic religions although the results are still the same for anyone that reaches Stage 3.” – Senior Researcher Dr. S████

Addendum XXXX-5: Incident Log XXXX-EC: During a routine audit of Site-137, Ethics Committee Liaison Stuart Lewis was anonymously sent a recording of SCP-XXXX Senior Researcher Dr. S████ talking to an unknown person, presumably a junior researcher. A copy of a written transcript of the recording is available to Level 4 staff upon request.

Addendum XXXX-6: Ethics Committee Investigation results: Following Ethics Committee Liaison Stuart Lewis’ investigation into Dr. S████’s activities as SCP-XXXX research lead, it was discovered that Dr. S████’s actions involved:

  • Deliberately bypassing monthly Site-137 D-class termination/reassignment into SCP-XXXX.
  • Harsh mistreatment of D-Class personnel assigned to SCP-XXXX.
  • Forcing D-Class personnel to enter SCP-XXXX under threat of immediate termination.
  • Making bets with other researchers on SCP-XXXX testing outcomes.
  • Having Junior Researcher Michael Alberts demoted to D-class exclusively to be used as SCP-XXXX testing fodder.

Concluding the investigation, Dr. S████ was found guilty of crimes against the Foundation and was subsequently terminated from Foundation employment. Six (6) researchers were also found guilty of collusion with Dr. S████ and were amnesticized, demoted to Level 1 status and reassigned to other projects pending full psychological evaluation from the Site-137 psychiatrist.

Addendum XXXX-7: Test Logs: All SCP-XXXX testing has been suspended by order of the Ethics Committee. Access to SCP-XXXX test logs is restricted to the Site-137 Director, Ethics Committee Liaison, and O5-2.
