Special Containment Procedures: As direct containment of SCP-8534 is considered unfeasible at this time, a perimeter—designated Area-46—has been erected around its current habitation. The area is to be monitored using embedded seismic sensors and camouflaged surveillance cameras. Unauthorized entry shall be met with immediate detainment and the administering of Class-B amnestics. Routine patrols of at least two (2) guard personnel must redirect visitors away from the area under the pretense of an ecological reserve.
Direct interaction with SCP-8534 is restricted to Level 3 and above personnel, with prior approval from the Site Director. All personnel entering the cave system must strictly adhere to the following protocols:
- Undergo a rigorous aesthetic and hygienic screening. Aesthetic screenings must be conducted by historical anthropologists and art historians. Personnel with physical imperfections, disheveled attire, or strong body odors are prohibited from entry.
- Have one (1) guard personnel and at least one (1) designated gift-bearer with a pre-approved high quality item. These can range from rare fabrics, precious jewelry, to polished gemstones.
- Address the entity exclusively with honorifics such as "Queen Redalia" or "Your Majesty." SCP-8534-2A must be given similar deference.
- Class-C and above personnel must be screened for any signs of arachnophobia and relocated if need be.
- Avoid conversations regarding its origins, the Middle East, or scorpions.
Violation of or failure to comply with these protocols will result in the subsequent termination of the operation.
The nutritional demands of SCP-8534 and its swarm are to be met with an offering of six (6) live cattle and swine in eight (8) hour intervals. This is critical for reducing hunting activity. Requests for "special delicacies" must be immediately followed via the delivery of one (1) Class-D personnel exhibiting signs of intense arachnophobia.
Under no circumstances are personnel to capture or harm any SCP-8534-1 or SCP-8534-2 instances within the vicinity. Any who do so are considered lost and must be delivered to SCP-8534 directly to minimize casualties. Containment must instead focus on non-lethal methods such as the use of sonic disruptors and spraying of peppermint oil. In the case of a catastrophic containment breach, a scorched-earth policy is authorized.
Description: SCP-8534 is a sapient entity resembling a human-spider centauroid identifying as Redalia Anvurine. It possesses the upper-half of a woman of indeterminate ethnicity paired with the lower-half of a spider resembling no known species. Its full height is measured to be four (4) meters with a leg span of one-point-seven (1.7) meters. It is estimated to be at least one thousand (~1,000) years old.
SCP-8534 resides in a subterranean complex beneath the former village of ████ ███ in ██████, Brazil. Geological evidence shows that SCP-8534 migrated to its current habitat approximately eight hundred (~800) years ago. The tunnels are fully infested with spiders and webbing—both non-anomalous and anomalous.
A notable trait of SCP-8534 is its obsession for art, particularly textiles and weaving. It is capable of weaving intricate tapestries and garments with incredible dexterity. While generally hostile and predatory, SCP-8534 can be placated with the offering of exceptional gifts. It is highly intelligent and perceptive; it can easily spot the slightest shifts in body language, small blemishes, and minute ill-matched colors or textures. It is heavily advised to avoid offending SCP-8534 in any manner due to its notoriously capricious temper. (See Addendum 8534-C).
SCP-8534 exhibits remarkable physical strength, durability, and can move up to speeds of ███ ███████ █████-███(███) km/h despite its size. It can produce or project highly durable silk from its hands and spinneret. Webs woven from this silk are capable of trapping mass of up to fifty-eight (58) tons and emit subtle telepathic signals that induce a spectrum of emotional responses based on SCP-8534's intent. SCP-8534 can also create a specialized version of its silk capable of stalling and healing life-threatening injuries within hours. The entity's venom can be injected or sprayed from its mouth or lower fangs with effects ranging from corrosion, paralysis, to rapid necrosis.
SCP-8534 possesses a number of thaumaturgical abilities:
- A roughly twenty (~20) kilometer radius where spiders are completely subjugated to its will. Affected spiders become an extension of SCP-8534's senses and are intrinsically linked to its emotional state. Scorpions instinctually and frantically avoid this zone.
- It can asexually birth both known and novel species of spiders en masse. Subjugated instances and its direct progeny are designated SCP-8534-1.
- The ability to link to any item, location, or prayer dedicated to it in the world. These become a focus to SCP-8534's anomalous abilities. Such foci attract the attention and subsequent protection of nearby spiders and hostility of scorpions.
- Transformation of chosen human females into SCP-8534-2 instances or an already existing one into SCP-8534-2A. Transformation is exclusive to subjects it deems beautiful and artistically talented. These processes are still poorly understood and are under study.
- Cursing of subjects with SCP-8534-A. Recipients of this effect experience degraded physical appeal and will have nearby spiders actively hunt them down. This effect can only be dispelled upon SCP-8534's willing revocation.
- The bestowal of SCP-8534-B. Recipients of this effect experience enhanced physical appeal, increased artistic proficiency, and the ability to influence nearby spiders for a certain period.
- The ability to mentally dominate any SCP-8534-2 instances within a roughly twenty (~20) kilometer radius. Though, it rarely does this.
SCP-8534 is fiercely protective of any SCP-8534-1 or SCP-8534-2 instances. Acts of harm against its subjects will invite a disproportionate retaliatory response from the swarm and, in the case of SCP-8534-2 instances, SCP-8534 itself. (See Addendum 8534-D). It has a profound disdain for scorpions, aesthetic crudity, and poor craftsmanship. It will not hesitate to kill nearby scorpions (either directly or by proxy) and humans it deems "ugly."
