Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX is to be contained within a reinforced chamber measuring 5 meters by 5 meters at Site-93's Light Containment Zone. The chamber must be constructed with reinforced steel walls and equipped with surveillance cameras to monitor SCP-XXXX at all times. Access to SCP-XXXX's containment chamber is restricted to Level 3 personnel or above. The area of effect in SCP-XXXX's containment chamber is to be marked with caution tape to prevent accidental exposure to its anomalous effects.
Description:
SCP-XXXX is a standard street sign with the words "Stop here for a surprise!" written on it in bold red letters. An arrow beneath the text points to the right, indicating a specific area adjacent to the sign. However, this area is entirely invisible and intangible, moving in tandem with the sign's location.
When a person enters the invisible area indicated by SCP-XXXX's arrow, they will experience a completely random and unpredictable event. These events range from benign occurrences to potentially hazardous situations, with no discernible pattern or consistency. Examples of reported events include sudden changes in weather, spontaneous appearance of objects or entities, alterations to the surrounding environment, and anomalous phenomena manifesting in the vicinity.
Due to the unpredictable nature of SCP-XXXX's effects, containment procedures must be meticulously followed to prevent accidental exposure and potential breaches. Any personnel exposed to SCP-XXXX's anomalous effects must undergo thorough debriefing and psychological evaluation.
Addendum XXXX-1: Incident Report
During Experiment XXXX-12, D-8912 was instructed to enter the invisible area indicated by SCP-XXXX's arrow. Upon entering the designated space, D-8912 suddenly began exhibiting symptoms consistent with SCP-610 infection. Within minutes, D-8912 transformed into an instance of SCP-610, causing a containment breach and subsequent outbreak.
Security teams were deployed to contain the SCP-610 outbreak and retrieve SCP-XXXX. Following the incident, containment procedures were revised to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. Testing of SCP-XXXX is now restricted, with additional safety measures implemented to minimize risks.
Further research into the origins and nature of SCP-XXXX's anomalous effects is ongoing, with a focus on understanding the underlying mechanisms and mitigating potential hazards associated with its containment.
