sublevel

The SCP-XXXX Sublevel in Site-93’s HCZ.

Special Containment Procedures:

SCP-XXXX instances are to be contained within a specially designed secure storage Sublevel within Site-93's Heavy Containment Zone. The Sublevel is to be constructed of reinforced concrete and fitted with soundproofing materials to minimize auditory stimuli. Access to the Sublevel is restricted to Level 4 personnel and above. Any breaches of SCP-XXXX are to be met with activation of containment protocol Gamma-6 (“Amnesia”). In the case that SCP-XXXX instances are found to have breached in mass quantities and have created large burrows in the facility, containment protocol Alpha-14 (“Dark Descent”) is to be activated, and Mobile Task Force unit Zeta-9 is to be dispatched into the burrows.

Additionally, an artificial biodome has been constructed within Site-93's Heavy Containment Zone to provide a controlled environment for SCP-XXXX instances 86 to 101. The biodome is equipped with reinforced steel walls and a soundproof dome roof to prevent breaches. Security personnel are stationed around the perimeter of the biodome to monitor for any unauthorized access or anomalous activity.

Personnel entering the Sublevel or the biodome must undergo thorough auditory and visual screening to ensure they do not inadvertently attract the attention of SCP-XXXX instances. In the event of a breach, containment teams equipped with tranquilizer firearms and sonic deterrent devices are to be deployed immediately to neutralize the threat.

wretch

An instance of SCP-XXXX in Site-93’s maintenance caverns during a breach.

Description:

SCP-XXXX refers to a species (214 instances at the time of this document) of humanoid creatures measuring approximately 2.5 meters in height. The creatures appear to be in a constant state of decay, with rotting flesh, exposed bones, and diseased skin covering their bodies. SCP-XXXX instances exhibit poor eyesight and rely primarily on sound to navigate their environment and locate prey.

The most distinctive feature of SCP-XXXX instances is their massive hands, each equipped with sharp claws capable of rending flesh and breaking through solid stone. The creatures walk on their knuckles, utilizing their claws to grip and tear at their surroundings as they move. SCP-XXXX instances demonstrate a preference for burrowing in stone and creating small tunnels where they can hide and ambush unsuspecting prey.

SCP-XXXX instances are highly territorial and aggressive, displaying a predatory behavior towards any living organisms that enter their vicinity. They emit low-frequency vocalizations to communicate with one another and coordinate group hunts. Despite their decaying appearance, SCP-XXXX instances possess remarkable strength and agility, making them formidable adversaries in combat situations.

SCP-XXXX was initially discovered following reports of mysterious disappearances in a remote mountainous region of Italy. Local authorities investigating the incidents encountered SCP-XXXX instances while conducting search and rescue operations, prompting the intervention of Foundation operatives. Mobile Task Force Zeta-9 ("Mole Rats") was deployed to the area, leading to the successful containment and retrieval of SCP-XXXX instances.

Addendum XXXX-1: Incident Logs

Incident XXXX-01:
Date: ██/██/20██
Description: During a routine security patrol of the biodome, a breach was detected in the northeast quadrant. Two SCP-XXXX instances were observed attempting to dig their way out of the biodome using their claws. Containment teams were dispatched to neutralize the threat and repair the breach. Casualties: 3 security personnel injured, 1 SCP-XXXX instance terminated.

Incident XXXX-02:
Date: ██/██/20██
Description: An unauthorized drone entered the airspace above the biodome, emitting high-frequency sound waves that attracted the attention of SCP-XXXX instances. The creatures attempted to breach the biodome roof in pursuit of the source of the sound. Security personnel intercepted the drone and neutralized it, averting a potential breach. Casualties: None.

Incident XXXX-03:
Date: ██/██/20██
Description: An unexpected seismic event occurred in the vicinity of Site-93, resulting in structural damage to the containment Sublevel housing SCP-XXXX instances. The breach triggered a mass escape of SCP-XXXX instances into Site-93's Heavy Containment Zone. Security personnel mobilized to contain the breach, resulting in a prolonged standoff with SCP-XXXX instances. Containment teams armed with tranquilizer firearms and sonic deterrent devices were deployed to neutralize the escaped instances and restore containment. Casualties: 7 security personnel injured, 5 SCP-XXXX instances terminated.

Addendum XXXX-2: Experiment Log

Experiment XXXX-01:
Date: ██/██/20██
Description: SCP-XXXX instances were exposed to varying frequencies of sound to assess their auditory sensitivity. Results indicated that SCP-XXXX instances are most responsive to frequencies between 50 Hz and 5000 Hz, with higher frequencies causing agitation and aggression.

Experiment XXXX-02:
Date: ██/██/20██
Description: SCP-XXXX instances were introduced to a simulated prey environment containing live rodents. Observations revealed that SCP-XXXX instances utilize a combination of echolocation and scent detection to locate and track prey. Once prey is detected, SCP-XXXX instances employ stealth tactics to ambush and capture their target.

Experiment XXXX-03:
Date: ██/██/20██
Description: SCP-XXXX instances were subjected to exposure to various chemical compounds to assess their olfactory sensitivity. Results indicated that SCP-XXXX instances possess an acute sense of smell, with a preference for organic matter and decaying material.

Experiment XXXX-04:
Date: ██/██/20██
Description: One SCP-XXXX instance was introduced to a controlled maze-like environment containing Class-D personnel. The instance was observed to stalk the test subjects while remaining out of their sight, and slowly using sound to make the subjects paranoid. Once they split up, the creature ambushed each Class-D until reaching the last one. The instance ignored stealth tactics for the last test subject, and rather simply gave chase.

Conclusion:

The mass breach incident underscored the inherent danger posed by SCP-XXXX instances and highlighted the necessity for enhanced containment protocols and structural reinforcements within Site-93's Heavy Containment Zone. Continued research and experimentation are imperative to further understand the biology and behavior of SCP-XXXX instances and develop effective containment measures to mitigate the risk of future breaches or containment failures. The vigilance and professionalism of Site-93 personnel remain paramount in ensuring the safety and security of the facility and surrounding areas.
